In January We Were In The Middle Of Moving And Ren

In January we were in the middle of moving and renovating a new property, we needed a company that we could trust and rely on for quality and service. After reading all the glowing reviews on trustpiolt and visiting the showroom in Colchester Avenue I felt sure I had made the right choice, by choosing Sigma3 to design and fit our kitchen. We put our trust in their hands, unfortunately this turned out to be a huge mistake, and with regret. Everything has been so difficult with nearly 6 months of hassle, people coming back and forth to correct issues, which are still ongoing. Just wish I could upload images as I think you would think twice about using Sigma3. Firstly when it comes to appliances check and double check they are the right models that you were shown in the show room, before you sign any contracts. Know your sliding hinges from fixed, we were shown the tall fridge and freezer on fixed hinges but had the freezer on a fixed and fridge on sliding. The oven I asked for from the beginning was the one with the pyrolytic feature, the designer kept telling me the model quoted had this feature, only to find out on double checking with the project manager that it did not have that feature. Once you have signed contracts very difficult to get them to change as apparently its set in stone, regardless if it’s not your mistake. We have had to have the fitter back out numerous times to correct fitting problems. An end panel was jutting out from the wall 10mm where the wall was out and not picked up during the survey, they fitted a panel over the oven, with a raw edge, really unsightly. It took 3 visits to get the extractor fan fitted properly, Elica sleek which turns out to be extremely noisy. We had to have 6 front panels replaced because of bad paint finish and dents, inside cupboards lots of holes covered by stickers. Had a crack in the Silestone work top, even had problems registering the warranty of the worktop, Dessert Silver is not on the Cosentino website? High end prices with shoddy fit and end product, save your money and go to B&Q. I cannot believe all the issues that we have had after reading all these “glowing reviews”, what went so badly wrong Sigma3? Please read reviews on other platforms and do your research, would certainly not recommend this company under any circumstances.

Poor Service, Poor Quality

I bought a kitchen from County Kitchens (Sigma 3) back in 2007 and this year I will be replacing it but most definitely taking my business elsewhere. The whole experience was a catalogue of errors - with poor internal communication meaning my order was not processed resulting in an unexpected 4 week delay and meaning I had to arrange for my builders to return to site. Also being lied to by the installation manager as to why my delivery was late. The company's quality assurance process was terrible with faulty panels, wrong glass doors delivered, 1 unit handle rather than the 38 actually ordered, only 22 sets of fixing screws for the handles (when they finally arrived!), missing wire basket, missing end panels, wrong end panels, missing beech plate holder and pegs, missing plinth sealing strip, missing end panels, missing plate warming drawer, missing hot rod bars (took another 5 or 6 weeks to get all the missing bits apart from the hot rod bars - these never were provided). oh and being lied to by the installation manager - yes it wasn't just once. I wrote to the MD at the time - he promised to call me, never did but he did write back and admitted the errors were the fault of the company, offered me £200 compensation - on an £18,000 kitchen (units only not including fitting or appliances). I never received the compensation and put the whole thing down to experience and wrote it off.

However after 2 or 3 years of use I noticed that the "foil wrapped" beech finish on the doors was fading to a different colour to the door frames (going slightly pink) and a different colour to the end panels. So once where I had a uniform beech finish kitchen I now have 3 different shades of beech on the same units. This has become so irritating now that I am about to replace the entire kitchen - but I will certainly not be using County Kitchens again. Things may well have improved over the last few years but the desperately poor QA processes and awful level of customer service seemed pretty deeply ingrained all the way up to the MD - and the point of experience of course is not to make the same mistake twice......!

Didn't Stand The Test Of Time

My original kitchen was 20 years old and still as good as new, but dated. We chose sigma 3 for our new kitchen 12 years ago. After 2 years one of the plinths became warped, and the door of the integrated dishwasher started peeling. They said they would under the guarantee send replacements but we would need to pay for a fitter. We had all our appliances from them. The rangemaster cooker grill went, the chrome rail started peeling and one of the knobs became loose. The dishwasher packed in and we had to replace the washing machine - all before the kitchen was 3 years old. The designer put glass doors next to the cooker which constantly get greasy. The kitchen that cost us nearly £12k 12 years ago is now totally shabby and needs replacing. You would have expected a better lifespan from it. I won't be going back for my new kitchen

Wish We Hadn't Bothered

We chose Sigma3 to supply and install our new kitchen as we were looking for a no hassle installation after having other building work carried out, leaving us without a kitchen for more than three weeks by the time the new kitchen was due to be installed. Also my wife worked with the wife of one of the directors of the company and we got a small discount off the price. All good we thought. How wrong could we have been!!

We visited the Culverhouse Cross showroom in Cardiff in September of 2014, and after a very pleasant experience with the deign process, a deposit was paid. All measurements were then checked, the balance paid for the supply of the kitchen (you have to pay for the supply of your kitchen in full prior to delivery only leaving the installation cost to be paid directly to one of their recommended, self employed fitters) and all was delivered for a start in the first week in Deceember 2014. Up to that point, everything was carried out efficiently and without a hitch, talk about getting lulled into a false sense of security!

The week of the installation arrived and we were excited at the prospect of having our dream kitchen fitted. We arrived home after the first day of the fit and were shocked and disappointed at the way some of the units had been fitted. We were also horrified at the way several of the units had been hacked about. The fitter had very roughly cut away the back of one of the base units to provide an infill strip, despite us paying a fortune for extra panels for this purpose. And the holes cut for the plumbing and drainage beggerd belief!!.

My wife phoned the Installation Manager (RL) to express our concern at the quality of work and to ask if he could call the following morning. After a great deal of insistance on our part, he finally agreed. When he arrived we explained our concerns and told him that we expected the problems to be rectified before any further work was carried out and covered up the problems. He said that this was an accepted method of installation, which we disagreed with. What we didn't expect next was his rude, arrogant and appauling attitude. He clearly didn't like being questioned, and seemed only concerned at the impact on the fitter not for the concerns for the customers. I thought that as the Installation Manager, he was responsible for managing the installation, beleive me, he did nothing to manage the situation or the installation.

Replacement panels were ordered and fitted which sorted out the original problems, but the issues of workmanship didn't end there....three attempts to mitre a worktop and still not perfect, other worktops poorly cut and having to be re-cut, the fitter claiming we had an existing leak in our utility room after he drilled through a pipe, incorrect check of measurements by Installation Manager, resulting in a pelment not able to be fitted correctly, I could go on. After another complain to Sigma, the work was eventually rectified before Christmas except for the utility sink which was damaged when had to be re-fitted. I must point out that after the initial problems, the fitter made every effort to rectify the unsatisfactory work and was even left by Sigma3 to order the replacement sink which was finally installed at the end of January 2015. More than I could say for Sigma3 and its staff.

We did e-mail Sigma3 a couple of times prior to the work being fully completed, and the only further communication we had with the Installation Manger (RL) was a poor response to one e-mail making excuses for the way he had dealt with things.but nothing more to make sure the work had been completed to our satisfaction. Quite appauling and very poor customer service for a kitchen that cost over £9,000!

Out of the blue we then received a call fom Sigma3 to arrange for the Cardiff Showroom Manager(CM), to visit our home and to speak to us. At the time of his visit he seemed very interested. He said he would investigate our claims, speak to the people involved, and let us know the outcome, a response we have never received, so again simply paying lip service to our complaint.

The most disappointing thing throughout this whole process is that the company owner (BL) was copied in to all our e-mail communications. As well as receiving nothing from the showroom and installation staff, we have also received nothing form the owner of Sigma3(BL), clearly condoning the poor level of customer service dished out by his staff.

The most recent communication we had with Sigma3 was from Customer Services Manager(CM) who said he was completely unaware of our problems and did apologise. He said he would write to Showroom Manager(CM) asking him to provide us with the reply we were promised, but once again nothing!

This is by no means the full list of issues, We don't think there is space or time to go into everything, but even after only 5 months since completion there are several problems which have croppeded up, intermitant problem with the dishwasher door catching on the plinth, end of tap starting to fall apart , dripping tap, microwave vibrates after prolonged use. God help us how things will be in a year or two!

It is clear from some of the previous reviews that Sigma3 is capable of providing a good service, but that appears to be when everything goes to plan and there are no problems. When things do go wrong and need a little more effort, they really haven't got a clue, beleive me!!! I really wish we hadn't bothered.

I think it's a pity that the review centre asks not to include the employees name, what so people don't see a pattern in the problems??

Would I recommend Sigma3, NO, Would I use Sigma3 again, definately not

Total Disappointment

We went to Sigma on recommendation, even used the same designer. Once they have your money the customer service is zero. We hoped to have our kitchen before Christmas but having been messed about so much by Sigma We didn't have it. We waited over 6 weeks for a quote from their first builder even then we didn't get an electric quote. .We gave up and found our own builder, who found the measurements on the plans were wrong. We have been told items are no longer available and other stores tell us they. They tell us the memo's are confusing and will send emails and don't. We have a corner unit which can't be used, maybe we could put tins of tomatoes in ....definatley not pans. We are still waiting for these design issues to be resolved and still have no kitchen...........

Do They Want Business ?

My wife and I Want to replace our old kitchen with total new refit and requested a design review via County Kitchen web site . We have a budget of around £25,000.00. After 1 week , we had heard nothing , therefore , we drove over to Horsham, to our nearest showroom .This is a distance of around 18 miles. We explained our requirements to them and he said he would phone later in week to discuss further. Following week , he telephoned and I requested that we have a home visit between 07th Feb to 14th Feb as we were both off work for 1 week. He told us this would not be a problem and said he would contact us nearer the dates to arrange exact time and date of visit. That was the last we heard from County Kitchens and it will be the last they hear from us.

They must be doing well if they can turn down business.

New Kitchen In Apartment

Moved into apartment in July and completely gutted it. Went to sigma3 as they supplied kitchen in old house. We wanted something different, as the apartment was small and integrated with the living room. From the outset we were completely taken with our designer Martin who did everything he could to find a design that worked. Eventually he came up with a design that fitted perfectly with our needs and all appliances were outstanding.

We now have a kitchen that works well for us and will last for years. From start to Finnish from the kitchen fitter to  the electricians and james the builder all were professional and most importantly on time and never let us down.

I would definitely recommend Sigma if you want a job doing well

Excellent Kitchen, Outstanding Service

I now have a new kitchen, designed and fitted by the County Kitchen Team (Sigma 3) in Guildford. The product speaks for itself the build quality is excellent. What you can't see is the service both before, during design & installation phases and after sales. My experience has been of an outstanding and highly professional team in the Guildford showroom that also extends out to the kitchen fitter. The design met all of my requirements and expectations, the designer's patience and attention to my ever changing requirements made for an extremely stress free experience (at least for me !)Everything was completed on time and to a very high standard. I can not praise enough the quality of the people working at the Guildford showroom they were professional, friendly flexible and creative. I have recomended Sigma 3 to many other people.

Q&A

Coughlan

Has anyone else experienced a problem with the kitchen unit doors from Sigma 3 delaminating? A number of my doors have had the foils ( gloss cover fitted over the MDF door) peel off and in one case split.

Is this common fault and why does it happen?

Jim8443

I have a complaint about my newly fitted kitchen. How do I complain to them?

Ifajobsworthdoing

The one good thing about Sigma is that if you have a complaint you can just ring them up and you will be dealt with politely and your commplaint will be acted upon. If its the fifth time with problems things go very slowly tho. But they still don't argue with you which is good.

anjh

They have had 3 bad reviews to do with doors warping and bad fitters. What area is that in? Is it in all areas as fitting is not cheap?

Ifajobsworthdoing

Latest Sigma contracted fitters are in Swansea. Yep, latest! Issues are still on going after more than a year. Have now attempted to email the Chief Exec and the Marketing Director with photo attachments of the latest issue.

Sigma3 would do so much better if they monitored the quality of the work done on their behalf and check that it's suitable for purpose. As it is you are left alone.

Still feeling very unlucky.
