Tesco Doing The Right Thing For Their Customers

We were due to have our kitchen fitted by Tesco Kitchen/Mark Two at the beginning of July. The kitchen was delivered, the fitters failed to turn up on two occasions.

There followed many fraught and stressful months of attempts to either get our money back or get the kitchen fitted. We involved the Furniture Ombudsman and the CEO of Tesco.

Finally after about five "personal/dedicated" co-ordinators at Mark Two; four named kitchen fitters; and many months of lies and mis-truths, we finally had a confirmed fitting date.

This turned out to be just three days after Tesco Kitchen went to the wall.

Consequently we had to pay for the fitter ourselves. (He was absolutely brilliant and we do not know what we would have done without him). We also had to source and buy new worktops (those supplied were damaged) and new upstands (those supplied did not match the finish/colour of the worktops). In addition we had to dispose of our old kitchen.

Do not worry say Tesco - they are going to "do the right thing and make sure none of their customers are out of pocket".

We were told to send the invoices to them and we would be repaid by cheque within 10 working days.

Sixteen days later, upon our enquiry, we are told to send them our bank details and we will be repaid by BACS within 10 working days.

Lets face it - they are just delaying and we will not be getting the money back.

Thanks Tesco!

Cooker That Doesn't Stay Alight

I arranged, on behalf of my elderly mother, for her to have a new kitchen. Chose Tesco as was quite happy with their plans. The kitchen was installed in October as planned and finished on time.I have to say the fitter did an excellent job. The only problem is, when trying to ignite the new cooker it does not stay lit. The company who issued the warranty did not turn up for a prearranged appointment so my mother is having to use her microwave which is not suitable to cook other foods in her freezer. I have to continue the fight for her.

Fitters Are Taken For A Ride

Kitchen fitters have finished high quality installations and have received no payment for these installations. They still have to pay wages and running costs for the business. They do not want to leave customers high and dry but cannot work for free.

Ceased Trading?

What's the point in having a guarantee of 20 years when they pull the plug on the business?

Original install shocking.

Tesco Kitchen Problems

Below is from the Tesco kitchen web site before they closed it, if you are having problems give them a ring.

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM TESCO STORES LIMITED

We are currently in discussions with Mark Two Distributors Limited, the company which runs our kitchen and bathroom fitting business about how we work with them in the future. We are committed to ensuring we do the right thing for customers and will be contacting them to discuss the options available to them.

Tesco,,, Morally Incorrect

Tesco have taken the money from thousands of people without a hope of getting anything back. Just weeks before Christmas Their Customers have been left without a kitchen or bathroom or even running water as they pull the plug on their kitchens and bathrooms installations. It looks like Tesco expect their customers to cook the Turkey on the Barbecue this Christmas.

Avoid shopping here and this Company Like Ebola.... Every Little helps!!

Awful Company! Free Fitting?? Nope! No Morrals!

No longer trading! Thousands of customers out of pocket, some with half finished installation and without gas, electricity etc weeks before Christmas. Hard earned cash lost! Designers, fitters not being paid, they do not care! This is not Mark Two this is Tesco having no Morrals and cutting all ties and contracts with Mark Two and all customers.

Don't even use Tesco stores, show them they can't mess with people's lives!! "Every little helps"!

Absolute Joke.

All going fine last week until the fitters walked out monday saying they have not been paid and that Tesco Kitchens are no more.

£10k of hard saved money now wasted as we are left with an unusable half finished kitchen and a ripped out en-suite with no idea what will happen, if the work will be completed. We can't afford new people to finish the job!

All we are told is to wait for an 'announcement' tomorrow, probably denying any blame.

'Every little helps' indeed. :(

Q&A

lisagrantham

Bought kitchen May 2014 all great and very happy with our kitchen.

The laminante/glossy covering for the doors/drawers has started to come away, where do we stand with the guarantee? Can you advise on how to fix this before it becomes more serious.

Many thanks

canhamphillip

Please Help. I had a kitchen installed by Tescos back in 2013 and I now find that the 2 sink plug inserts are starting to deteriorate. I find that Mark 2 has gone into administration and Tescos have now closed their kitchen and Bathroom sales rendering their 25 year guarantee worthless. This is typical of the big corporate businesses punishing the "little guy" after they have spent their hard earned cash it is a case of "I'm okay Jack I got your money".

Ideally I would like these 2 inserts sent to me for free but I haven't got a cat in hells chance so perhaps one of you might be able to let me know where I can buy these sink traps? Thank you for reading this and I would like an answer

Regards

p.s I am on a low income and therefore didn't want to ring the 0845 number

Debreger

Had our kitchen installed 2014 ,just before the withdrawal of Tesco`s input ,which I believe was the downfall of Mark11.

I had cause to contact Tesco`s about the Kitchen ,and was told that they were setting up a customer service special unit ,for any problems and to carry on with the Guarantees/Warranties ,for the future Unfortunately I can`t find any details of this in my paperwork ,but I think if you contact their Customer Service ,they could put you in the right direction , think it was a 0800 number.

Hope you get sorted , Debreger

I had a Tesco kitchen installed in 2013. For the past few months the kitchen tap has come loose and now you can spin it round making it difficult to direct the flow of water. I remember that this kitchen has a 25 year warranty. How do I get this fault remedied?

PurplePony

We had a problem with one of the hinges on a kitchen cabinet, they wouldn't come out and fix it, as they said it wasn't really covered by the warranty (?), but as a goodwill gesture they sent a replacement. So my reply would have been to take a photo and email it to Mark Two...BUT, having just read the announcement at the top that they are no longer trading, this might be a fruitless exercise. However you might still want to get in touch with TESCO and see what they say? I'm not sure where it leaves everyone regarding warranties and guarantees when they are no longer trading

detox

Who stands behind the 25 year guarantee now Tesco Kitchens do not exist???

Mark2 are only distributors???

LornaJaneno1

Seems there wont be ..

At the moment all accounts have been frozen .

Some work is half completed some like mine has had all payment taken and no start date.

No fitters or workers are being payed .

Tesco has frozen everything.

I've contacted watchdog suggest you all do the same.

Hopefully I will get a refund but at the moment who knows may have lost it all..,

Chose tesco as I thought it was a secure brand.,

How wrong could I have been ....

Tsvetana

I am trying to find some prices on the website, but nothing there. Can somebody tell how much for a middle size kitchen,or for a oven, something?

Thanks

Pavia

Hiya. I was given all prices when I had a face-to-face visit / quote. Mine is a year old and cost £7k. It was the most expensive range though (Pavia) but I really wanted that one!! I had a built in hob, oven, extractor, sink. I have 13 cupboard units.

linoandmaggie

I had a kitchen fitted 3 months ago. Every time I use one particular electric socket the electricity power goes off. Why is this happening? Each time the fuse box trips over and I have to go up on a ladder to switch the fuse box back again.

crossfig

Do get an electrician to rewire this as soon as possible. There should be no danger, as this is precisely why the circuit is tripped. Try not to use this socket until it is fixed. Do get a receipt for the works and get this back from Tesco. TESCO SHOULD PROVIDE you with an electrical certificate, if they did any electrical work to your property.

susansamjj

I would like to know why Tesco don't check up on peoples satisfaction? I would like to know why 3 months ago we payed £20,000 for a kitchen, we had no appliances apart from a range which has problems with the knobs getting so hot they burn you every time the oven is on. The only appliance we had was the dishwasher which was free.

So we payed £20,000 for some cupboards? They made a big mess of our walls and the plastering job they done was a mess. The tiles are not flush and where they put electrical points there are some gaps. One electrical socket only has one screw that is fitted to the wall the other screw isn't attached to anything, I have been in contact with them and we have had excuse after excuse the last excuse was yesterday when we were told they had to update our phone numbers, our phone numbers hadn't changed! I'm sick of their excuses and their cheap shoddy workmanship. If the problems aren't sorted out iI am going to report it to trading standards.

susansamjj

hi, yer i payed with my barclays debit card. so i do have the proof how much i payed and who to, once they have your money they don't care. every couple of days i'm getting a phone call to tell me they are going to sort it out but the kitchen fitter is on another job, this is what they are telling me, but i think it's just to shut me up, time will tell, i use to shop with tescos and spend a lot of money every week, i have since changed where i shop, because i feel tescos has an obligation to their customers. it's their loss at the end of the day. i won't stop nagging them until they have put it right. thank you all for youe answers.

KarenKharfa

I asked how can I remove the drawers? They are not on runners and the draw does not tilt up or down as they are on long metal rails. How can I remove them from these rails?

Ahans

Assuming they are the sane design as mine, the rails have an "L" profile and there are screws which go into the bottom side of the draw, undoing these should release the draw from the rails.

KarenKharfa

How can I remove my drawer as something has dropped behind it which I need to get to?

imcpu2

Usually this is just a question of pulling the draw out as far as it will go then tilting upwards so that the roller disengages from the cabinet. Gently pull out. Be careful if the draw is full it will be heavy.

Brownsuga1

How long does it take from ordering a Mark Two kitchen to getting it fitted?

Marion Coombes Shrubb

My experience was that I ordered and paid deposit mid January and the kitchen installation was from 24th - 28th February - less than 5 weeks. We emptied out the old kitchen one weekend and put things back in new kitchen the following weekend.
