I made the right choice when agent called me regarding my request for a painter and decorator. The ceiling in the kitchen had water damage, and in order to get the correct paint he took me to buy the right choice of primer and paint for the job without charging any extra. The rest of the kitchen was also painted and there was also some pointing and painting to be done in the living room with the help of his cousin. The work was clean and tidy and I am pleased with everything that took place. If there is any further work to be done in the future I will have no hesitation in calling him.

I have used rated people twice now and both transactions were trouble free..As a single woman living alone I did not want to use them at first because of security issues,and you are guided only by the recommendations given...I have been delighted by the standard reached in chimney repair and some kitchen fitting ..Both workers were diligent and honest also clean and pleasant...When the average builder will not reply to messages left on his mobile what else can people do to get one?.Nice to know there are some decent people left in the world!!

Let’s put it simple they really hate in replying to tradesmen especially when it comes to dealing with bogus leads etc .So rated people needs to work on those issues for the genuine traders .thats the only reason tradesmen have lost their interest in it .........

The person I dealt with did a wonderful job painting and decorating my living room last week. I found this gentleman to be hardworking, polite and true to his word. He removed an old fire place and installed a new one. He also painted the whole room and even fitted a couple of heavy curtain rails free of charge. I would use him again and would also recommend him to anyone looking for an honest and hardworking painter and decorator.

I was fleeced by a tradesman who overcharged me by hundreds of pounds so I left a negative review weeks ago. I've just checked his profile and he has 13 reviews posted, all of which are for 5 stars. My negative review has been deleted somehow.

Posting fake leads. When called out on it they refuse a refund. Only credit... to buy more fake leads!!

We had a new roof using Dudley and son, what a great experience, work was A1, very sociable very good price , no problems at all, always on time, and really hard working. Highly reccomended

Had some repointing done to the side of our house. The person I dealt with visited to send an estimate, then his man did the job. Very pleased with the work, everything left clean and tidy afterwards. He was good at communicating and prompt In his replies to queries. Have no hesitation in recommending him.

Use the yellow pages, or better still personal recommendations instead.

We used Rated People because of their claim that they perform various checks on tradesmen before promoting them. This is either patently untrue, or seriously flawed, as the tradesman we ended up with has a long history of CCJs stretching back over half a decade. We only found this out after having to take legal action against him to recover £2k for flawed work and dishonesty.

Rated People simply didn't want to know, and evaded answering my specific question as to what went wrong with their vetting.

Instead they simply repeated stock answers amounting to 'buyer beware' (something which has only recently become a theme on their website - beyond the small print), and refused to accept any responsibility for the issue.

Scanning social media (and this review site), I am not alone in my experience. Indeed, their business model is predicated on selling leads to traders, us poor mugs as householders are not their concern - and they illustrate this by treating us with contempt.

They NOW provide detailed advice on checking out potential tradesmen. If you have to take such steps to protect yourself, you might as well use Yellow Pages to find a local company. You'll get the same result.
