We Are Pleased With Our Mira Excel Bath And Shower

We are pleased with our Mira Excel Bath and Shower Mixer. Great build and finish and unique solution to not having the normal bath taps and, coupled to a Salamander pump it works very well. The only downside is after use the unit drips for approximately half and hour which I feel very sure is the residual water in the hose and shower head. I have emailed the manufacturer and received a not very prompt reply from one of their service advisors with a not very convincing diagnosis that it was residual pressure in the pipe lines - as a retired aircraft engineer frankly was just a lot of tosh. I failed to see how in a gravity fed water tank open to the atmosphere residual pressure would last half an hour. To reduce the drip time, I remove the shower head from the riser rail and let hang downwards thereby reducing the amount of water in the pipe. This (dripping)may not be the case for all Excel units - we were just unlucky with one of the internal components. See also review for the related Excel mixer tap which retains water after use and spookily releases that water (approx 20ml)30 seconds later.

Recently Got This Mira Excel Ev Thermostatic Showe

Recently got this Mira Excel EV Thermostatic shower. We have a history with Mira. We bought our first Mira Excel shower over 12 years ago when we had new central heating and a combi boiler fitted. It never let us down (until last week) and apart from having to replace the aforementioned plastic blanking plug a few times, it has given faultless service.

However last week, we called the Mira engineer in to 'service' it and see why we were getting lukewarm showers. He diagnosed it needed a new cartridge but at a cost of over £200 fitted, said we may like to consider replacing it with a new one which carries a 5 year gurantee. He charged us less than £20 for the call out and he even removed the old unit to leave us ready for fitting the replacement. (You can read my review about Plumbworld eleswhere on this site.) The new shower is now fully installed and working beautifully. Mira showers are a cut above most other brands when it comes to design and operation and are well worth the premium price. Mind you, bought at discount online, this is actually a very reasonably priced product.

I have a Mira Excel EV surface mounted thermo shower installed October 2012. Recently it has been cutting off when I turn the control to a cooler temperature. Is this a major problem or can I fix easily?
