Karcher Window Cleaner

Bought a WV50 in 2014 after hearing reports what a great labour saving device it is, well... it certainly is! Windows are sparkling after a few minutes instead of hours of polishing with window leather, spray and newspaper. However, after 3 years hard use the motor became noisy and cut out after starting even on full charge. After dismantling discovered that the fan end bearing had worn away. As others have said it is not possible to buy a new motor but what you can do is buy a similar sized motor and change the metal body which contains the bearing. I bought a DC motor off Ebay for £2.55 and swapped the body over. It is now working perfectly again. The motor body size you need is 35mm x 25mm x 17mm doesn't matter about voltage (mine was 12V) as you will reuse the original rotor.

This was a bad experience for me. The first one I bought had a major problem with the switch within 3 weeks. The good news was that B & Q refunded me with no quibbles and so I bought a replacement at the same time thinking that my luck wouldn't fail me a second time. This one lasted just under twelve months and, low and behold, exactly the same thing happened with the switch. B & Q refunded again but then I decided enough was enough. I contacted Karcher to explain - I might as well have talked to the wall.

My 1st Karcher window cleaner failed after around 4 years use, it kept turning itself on when not in use and I got no help from Karcher customer services. As a result I purchased a new Karcher Window Cleaner (WV60) which has failed after 11 months of use.

I have a walk in shower and use it to clean the glass and Aqua panels on a daily basis. About month ago it started making a very loud noise when operating, sounded like a jet engine. Later on it would cut out then restart by itself for a 5 second burst then shut down again, then repeat and repeat. As all the internals are in an enclosed unit and I did not want to take it all apart, I have had to but the item in the garage so that I can't hear the sporadic tuning itself on and off.

My impression was that Karcher were the leaders in this type of equipment but twice bitten I fear they are not and am searching for an alternative manufacturer.

If you look at other review sites you will find other disappointed customers having experienced various faults.

Have tried so many "wonder" window cleaning products which generally leave streaks on the window. This one does a great and quick job as long as you don't pull it over the window surface too quickly. Also excellent at removing condensation after a frosty night. You may need the smaller head option if you have small window lights

I love this gadget. It makes cleaning glass so much quicker. There are no streaks and the charge lasts for hours. I bought mine from Tesco with some vouchers so am doubly happy.

Really worth the money if you have lots of windows and need to get them perfect.

After years of wiping condensation from our windows during the winter months, a painstaking but necessary business, I discovered the Karcher Window Vac. I knew that Karcher products had a good reputation so I purchased this device. I did feel that it was a tad expensive but on first use this concern simply did not matter any more. This is an efficient, time-saving product which is a joy to use. Windows cleared in no time! Use on shower doors too! And tiles! With the Karcher Window Vac condensation simply disappears!

If I do have a gripe it is that the resevoir is small and soon fills and that when it is nearing full capacity rotating the product onto its side (which sometimes is necessary) causes some leakage. You will probably have to recharge the battery every day but obviously this depends on the number of windows that you have. If you have lots of windows then you probably have an expensive house and so employ a domestic assitant (cleaner)so I would urge you to buy her/him one.

Definitely worth purchasing unless you enjoy wiping and wringing, wiping and wringing, wiping and wringing...

I bought a refurbished product for half the price of a brand new one, and it was well worth it. I could not tell the difference and the product itself is exceptionally useful. I do not know of anything similar available from any other manufacturer.

This is a must have item.cleans tiles from condensation also windows,cleans windows inside and out, streak free,there are two sizes of rubber blade for all sizes of window pane.I use a small plant sprayer with a weak mix of washing liquid and water,work over window with a PLASTIC scourer and vac off with the Karcher.

I have found this so useful, not just for windows of all sizes but also tiles, shower screens. Just slosh water, not hot; on the window or whatever, then vaccum clean and dry with the window vac. no window cleaning solution is necessary , just water with a squirt of detergent. One charge will clean windows for about 20 minutes. So much quicker, to finish you usually need to wipe along the bottom of the window with a cloth to soak up any residue. saves cleaners and time.
