If I Could Give It No Stars I Would! Extremely Rude Owner!

Rang the riding school today to enquire as to whether they had any horses for loan. I was met with an immediate no, is that all.’ (from the person who is apparently the owner). I knew this wasn’t true as I have a friend who loans two of their riding school horses, which at this point I mentioned. Her reply was ‘yeah, but we don’t just loan them out to anybody. Thanks, bye.’

I don’t think anybody has successfully convinced me that I don’t like them within less than a 30 second phone call. And I’m not just anybody - I’m a BHS stage 2 qualified instructor and have previously had ex-racehorses and backed horses of my own but, she didn’t even give me the chance to explain that.

I’ve worked at ALOT of riding schools and your business WILL FAIL if you treat all your customers and staff as you have treated me. Believe me, I’ve seen it happen countless times!I don’t understand why people feel the need to be rude to others because for a start you have no idea who you are talking to and the influence they may have in the horse world...

I have also looked at other reviews that specifically call out the owner on her rudeness and have seen no replies to these reviews which is extremely poor and shows how uncaring her attitude is, hopefully she’ll start caring when her poor treatment of people is reflected in her profits.

I Am Very Disappointed With This Riding Establish

I am very disappointed with this riding establishment,"Is reddish vale riding school only interested in making money? and not interested in teaching I hope not.My daughter has been attending the walk outs, for some weeks and still hasn't been given the correct aids for walk trot halt etc.stirrups are never the correct length "pulling the rains hard is not the correct instruction to halt" just one of many examples, I appreciate it's only a half an hour but this could be made fun and exciting so much valued instruction could be given in such a short time, and it would be helpful if pupils are categorized in accordance to ability,(not sure if the owner is aware of this)and there is never a lesson plan.On happy note the farm is well kept and animals are happy and living in a city it's an asset to have such a lovely place to attend and bring joy to many.

Don't Waste Your Time Here! Awful Riding School

My daughter was on 'walk outs' for over a year before she could start proper lessons, which didn't involve much teaching. She learned more in her first few lessons at Glen Jakes than in the 5 years here. The lessons were very repetitive; walking and trotting, and the hack outs involved walking around busy roads (not in the nearby countryside). She only occasionally cantered and jumping was never an option. Staff were extremely rude and unhelpful, using phones during lessons, not making an effort to speak to anyone in the lesson. Once my daughter was shouted at for not holding her reins properly. In 3 years, no one had told her how to hold them. I don't know how they can call themselves a riding school since they don't teach people how to ride. I would recommend Glen Jakes to anyone rather than this place.

Don't Waste Or Time/money!!!!!

Where do I start... Rode/worked here for a year. Riding lesson very dull and repetitive, horses very safe. Owner Jill is horrible and only cares about the money, poor children have to work 8:00-3:00 no payment involved. Staff very snobby (except from Jess and some leaders) and unhelpful. If you want to learn to ride properly go to glen jakes. Noting more to say but a complete waste of time-don't bother going here unless you want to become a prissy rider. They do "loan" horses which means you can pay £20 a week for your child to look after their horse and have the life sucked out them.

Bens 2nd Birthday

We had a lovely day at the farm, my grandson's 2nd Birthday, we were in a party of 13 adults and 3 children. The kids and adults had a great time seeing the animals etc.It was great until luchtime, we went to the cafe, and ordered 5 separate orders, ours being the first.WE were told it would be a 30 minute wait, no problem we said. Ours was number 71, they called 65, then 72, then 73, i went to the counter after a 45 minute wait, and the young lady said it would be coming ours must be a large order, it was 3 items. They then called 74, i went up again to the counter to be told we had, had our order !!!!! it was now an hour since we ordered. One young lady said i put some sandwiches on your table, yes that was order 72.We were by then very hungry and very annoyed. Most of our party had finished eating by then.THEY HAD LOST OUR ORDER,we were then told we could have a refund or they would start to cook our order but we didnt want to wait another hour. The young girls never even said sorry, and made us feel like we were trying it on.I was very upset so went to see the lady in charge, she was lovely and said sorry, and offered to the food for free, which we declined, as we had by then had a mars bar. The farm as I said is lovely the cafe needs more staff.

Don't Waste Your Money

The only decent advice I can give you, is not to go here. The owner of the farm is ridiculously rude, ignorant, has no manners or proffesionalism and profit evidently comes above the welfare of the horses and the staff and also her customers. She was often patronising and rude. The horses are very much over worked, not very well looked after, and are often very tired and grumpy which is noticeable. The whole riding school is practically run by children who are way too young. They also are very overworked and this often results in them being tired, grouchy and not very willing to talk to and teach the children they are leading. They have also lashed out at the horses as a result of this. Taking my daughter to this farm has been a very bad experience and the staff have often been very rude to myself and my children and the whole time we were rushed around. Overall, a waste of money. A waste of time. Just AWFUL!

Brilliant Riding School

I have tried many riding schools to get my daughters into horseriding, and none is more suited to us than Reddish Vale Farm! My daughters ride at Reddish Vale and have now become obssessed with the world of horses and ponies! My eldest(13) rides a named Dennis and my youngest(4) rides a little pony named Presious. My four year old is constantly talking about her leader who she thinks the world of and my 13 year old keeps begging me to buy her a pony!

The horses are all very spoilt and clearly well looked after. The stables I have noticed are always clean and tidy and the horses are well mannered, not like some from other riding schools we have visited recently. The leaders are fantastic and are always talking to the riders. Most of them are young however they know what they are doing and are very helpful and always smiling, not at all rude as some reviews have mentioned. My neice also rides at Reddish vale, she has special needs and the leaders take extra special care and talk to her every week, they are fantastic with dealing with her!

I would recommend this farm to anybody looking to find somewhere to start horse riding!!!

What level of stable management do you need to loan a horse? How much would it be to loan? How many days a week would I have to go to the farm and what level of riding do I need to loan?
