Hammerite Spray Paint

I’ve been using Hammerite products for many years, and always found them to be good quality, long lasting and good value. The only issue I ever encountered was applying it to intricately shaped items, such as fences and gates. All is solved with a spray can! I now always use a spray can, a cardboard back stop mask, and always get great results, with little mess and in a fraction of the time compared to a brush. I would always recommend really agitating the can, and even letting it sit in a bowl of warm water for a while on very cold days. Don’t apply it too heavily, just use multiple coats and build up your finish. It has good coverage, and there’s very little waste. I always loosen any obviously flaking or damaged corroded metalwork first, and I give these areas a rub with a wire brush, but the adherence of the Hammerite spray tins to normal metalworking is very good. I find it best to leave it a few minutes between coats, and try to get the spray applied from various angles, with the adjustable nozzle being really useful. I recommend spray Hammerite to all my friends and none have ever gone back to brushes!
