Very Poor Quality Cooker!
I have had this cooker for about 10 years and it has broken down many times. At present, the bottom fan oven makes a deafening noise. An engineer has just been and gone, unable to fix it. The front panel is very difficult to clean. Unbelievably, the temperature numbers printed around the knobs actually rub off if you rub too hard with a cleaning cloth, so you are left having to guess at what temperature you have set your oven. The knobs themselves are cheap and plasticky and very hard to clean. I am amazed to see this cooker is still on sale. It's such a poor design. I would never buy another smeg product. My smeg dishwasher was an even worse buy ..

Needs Lots Of Spares
Purchased the oven 7 years ago, have gone through 3 main oven elements 1 thermostat two oven switches and a controll box. All at own expense. Thought I was just unlucky but would appear there are others, Oven runs at least 20-30 C above what you have requested, which is probably why it burns out elements so often. Easy to clean, Every part available and not difficult to change, outer surface of doors stays cool so great if small children in house. Started to buy Miele appliances after this and they are all simply outstanding, worth the extra money.
A Dreadful Cooker
Avoid this cooker. Very unreliable.Poor quality parts used to build the cooker. For example the selector switches are made of plastic not ceramic. This means that they can burn out with the oven heat! Our cooker has had the oven element the thermostat and the oven switch replaced. All at our own cost. The main oven never worked properly from new it runs too hot.So you cannot cook certain recipes. I will never buy any Smeg appliances.

All Style, No Substance.
I bought this cooker six years ago and have already spent over £200 on four seperate repairs. All out of warranty of course. Now the element of the top oven has blown, so more expense and trouble. It may look good but in my opinion it's total junk. I'd never buy a Smeg product again.

Really Pleased At This Cooker. It Looks Stylish An
Really pleased at this cooker. It looks stylish and cooks well.
Ignore previous coments on the controls getting hot- if you grill with the door closed, like the instruction manual says, the stainless steel controls will stay cool.
Even the door glass is cool when cooking with both ovens on- a real benefit if you have kids.
In hind sight I'd rather have waited and bought the new gloss black model.
The cast iron pan supports are really solid and the flame failure safety device on the burners are good for peace of mind incase the flame goes out, as the gas will cut off.
All in all- well worth the money!

The Knobs Get Hot When The Grill Is On Cause You H
The knobs get hot when the grill is on cause you have to keep the door open and the transfers on the front of the cooker with burner information and grill info come off within a year .Looks untidy very quickly .The gaskets also need replacing once a year .
Try grilling with the door closed. That's what the instruction manual says.
it's got a great cooling system, that's why it has stainless steel controls, unlike other cookers.
This cooling fan won't work if you have the door open.
U'll also find ur kids ( if u have any) will never burn them selves on the glass- bonus !

I Would Advise Anyone Against Buying A Smeg Produc
I would advise anyone against buying a SMEG product. Our SUK62MFX5 looks OK but the element fails and the seals are poor. I was very disappointed with this product as I assumed that by investing a bit more I would have been reassured with quality. Not so.

Don't buy this Smeg SUK62MFX5 - unless you have a 50mm gap at each side for clearance. We were unaware of this requirement until the fitter came - by which time our old cooker had been taken away. A lot of hassle organising another cooker, delivery, uplift, fitting etc. which could have been avoided if this had been pointed out at the time of buying it.

Grill Took Ages To Heat From First Purchase. Smeg
Grill took ages to heat from first purchase. Smeg Oven now 2 years old (cost almost £1000 new) and Fan oven is knackered. Looks like cooling fan, or stat, but regardless, SMEG won't even entertain idea of fixing it for us.
Atrocious, disinterested customer service. Appalling lack of sympathy or tact.
Example - contact their Technical dept online (instant messaging support). Very slow responses from operator - awful grammar and manner. Asked what might be wrong - wouldn't say; just recommended an engineer (who costs a fortune). Asked whether they might be able to help diagnose problem online, answer: No.
