Poor Quality Expensive Product

This is my second Gaggia machine. The first (Gaggia Classic) lasted over 6 years, the new Baby Gaggia didn't last a year. Poor quality product throughout. Coffee never seems hot. Constantly leaking water and now machine is so hot I can't turn the handle to steam milk. Does this have anything to do with Phillips taking over Gaggia and the product being downgraded. At a little under £200 I was expecting far more. The customer service desk was helpful to a point but as its now out of guarantee they don't want to know and I feel disappointed. Next machine will be cheap and cheerful and if it only last 12 months then so be it but it won't have cost as much

Worked Really Well For The First Week Until We Too

Worked really well for the first week until we took the the filter pod out to wash it. After that, it spurts out coffee sideways. Whatever we've done to sort this

I've Had The Baby 'doser' Class Now For Over 3 Yea

I've had the Baby 'Doser' class now for over 3 years. Not a single problem with is since I bought it online.

Great coffee**, it looks great and has given me no trouble.

**If you use good quality coffee - I use Lavazza Grand Espresso beans - with a appropriate grind size. If you're getting your own grinder expect to spend over £100 to get a good, consistent grind - otherwise, stick to pre-ground coffee.

The 'gunge' that another reviewer encountered is the gunge that he/she should have been cleaning out regularly. I think maintenance was overlooked by this reviewer - it only takes a half hour once per month depending on how often you use the machine. Descaling is not enough and maintenance instructions are provided.

Overall very happy with my Gaggia Baby 'D'(Doser)

After A Great Deal Of Research And Looking Into A

After a great deal of research and looking into a variety of makes, we opted for the Baby Gaggia - not the cheapest by some way but hughly recommended by an assistant who helped us in a John Lewis store. She also suggested we buy Illy coffee which we did from our local Sainsburys.

The machine wasn't too difficult to use but spurts out coffee whilst it is pouring down into the cups. We have returned one machine so far and am going back to John Lewis today to return for a 2nd time and to get a replacement. Hopefully 3rd time lucky, if not we will opt for another make.

By the way Illy coffee is fantastic.

Hi

I just bought a Baby Class as well and had exactly the same thing. That was until we realised you have to put the small rubber grommit that is supplied with the machine into the coffee holder before attaching it to the machine. That stops all the coffee spurting up the walls like we had yesterday!!!

My only problem now is a faulty steamer button which doesn't seem to want to stay pressed down!!!! Grrrrr

It Makes Great Coffee But The Steam Button Failed

It makes great coffee BUT the steam button failed after 2 weeks so that machine was replaced by the retailer. Now after a further 2 months the steam button on the new machine has failed. We are waiting for this one to be collected we will get a refund and buy another brand.

After Just Ten Months Of Use, My Machine ( Gaggia

After just ten months of use, my machine ( Gaggia Baby Class ) has appeared to have died. Upon contacting Gaggia for advice I was told to take various parts off. Having complied, I was surprised to find large amounts of gunge that were very difficult to remove and this in spite of regular descaling. My machine is still non-functioning and I shall not be purchasing another by this manufacturer

I Have Had To Return My Gaggia Baby Twice In The F

I have had to return my Gaggia Baby twice in the first year for repair to switches (on/off and steam), which began by arcing and finally stopped working. The machine is ok for espresso, but poor for cappuccino.

The Gaggia Baby Is A Good Looking, Sturdy And Vers

The Gaggia Baby is a good looking, sturdy and versatile espresso machine which gives good pump pressure, holds a lot of water, and gets up to temperature fast.

This is the 2nd time in a year that I've had to return the Baby for repair to the switches. The steam is also inadequate and I'm really disappointed. I think Gaggia is overrated (and overpriced) outside Italy (They hardly use them there). I also think its boiler is aluminium rather than stainless steel (anyone for Alzheimer's?), but I can't tell unless I dismantle it. I'm changing to a Saeco Magic Capp as it seems to offer a far better cappuccino.
