Expected More From A John Lewis Product

Design wise it looks nice and the stainless steel jug fitted with the rest of our appliances in our kitchen.

That said, it does have some serious design flaws.

No hot plate means the first cup is hot, but subsequent cups we had to microwave to get to a hot temperature.Difficult to use the jug to fill the machine as the lid doesn't open enough, also the lid will leak any residual water when you open it to fill it. The jug itself has annoying habit of leaking water out of the machine you're trying to fill the machine from the jug. Finally, if you don't get the jug back into the machine, just right it leaks the brewed coffee onto your work top. This was especially annoying when it did this once with the white vinegar water solution used to clean it,

Having read a few other reviews, we never had a problem with a plastic taste and makes nice coffee, just a shame about all the other usage problems we experienced with it.

Rubbish this coffee machine if you follow the instructions and warm the jug with hot water provides hot coffee for a good three hours after first brewing. The only comment I would make is that it has been difficult to get new filters when required. There is no problem opening the top provided there are no obstructions in the way like the bottom of the wall cupboard.

We had a temporary issue with leakage but once cleaned thoroughly there problem didn't exist. We found that running hot water through the filter lid made a difference as the grains of coffee didn't get a chance to solidify and block the flow then.

I would give it 9/10 for service

Hi We Have Bought The Dcc1150jlu John Lewis Coffee

Hi we have bought the DCC1150JLU john lewis coffee machine but accidentally threw out the instructions! Could anyone out there advise how we get it to work as we can't get the coffee to pour from the filter into the jug! Thanks.

You have to put the lid back on the jug to get the coffee to flow from the filter into the jug. Simple when you know how!

Try this, it seems to be the same machine. :)

Dcc1150jlu Jl Coffee Maker Having Read The Re

DCC1150JLU JL Coffee Maker

Having read the reviews before checking this out in store, I have to say this is (in my opinion) a very good machine. Compared to the other filter makers, this machine has a very good feel and top build quality, the jug is solid and nice to hold. Looks good too. Auto setting works a treat.

I was concerned that my coffee would not be hot enough. However I've not had any issues, and John Lewis said they would allow me to return the machine if I wasn't 100% happy. This is apparently a cuisinart machine made under JL brand name. This machine does have a hot plate, but it switches off once the coffee is brewed. I've not had any issues with the coffee being tainted. There is a lengthy set of instructions to follow on first use, regarding setting the charcoal filter up, and I also brewed a full jug without any coffee. There is a button to press to ensure the jug is properly heated if you make 1-4 cups. All in all this machine makes a lovely cup of coffee, and Ive used cafetieres, Stove top espresso machines and filter machines recently. Remember to swirl the jug before pouring as the stronger coffee is sitting at the bottom.

Lets be realistic, coffee standing on a hot plate all morning, is stewed and dire. Coffee is brewed at 90c for a top taste, it is a heat sensitive beverage (That's why hot milk is preferred over cold when serving it up) ; and the thermally insulated jug used here would appear to be a great solution to keeping your coffee hot and delicious. JL give a 2 year guarantee too. Thoroughly recommended.

Don't Buy This Machine. Just Don't. I'm On My Seco

Don't buy this machine. Just don't. I'm on my second machine and both have produced undrinkable coffee. I've run the latest one 1-2 a day for a month and still the coffee is tainted with a chemical taste. It is undrinkable and not what I expected from John Lewis for £60. Avoid at all costs. I've tried everything to get rid of the taste from bicarb to White vinegar and nothing works. I'm returning to get a refund

I Bought This Coffee Maker Because Of The Stainles

I bought this coffee maker because of the stainless steel carafe! i didn't realise there was no hotplate! it does not keep the coffee hot enough! i didn't want to break another glass carafe so this was the choice,

i washed it all out at first use but the first coffee was tainted! it is a great disappointment, shame really at £60

Dont Buy This!! Thought I'd Spend A Bit More And G

Dont buy this!! Thought I'd spend a bit more and get a good quality coffee maker so usually can't go wrong with JL. This is very badly designed. It is so lightweight that when you put the jug back or take it out of the appliance the whole machine slides away across the worktop! There are only 2 tiny plastic pads on the base and even with 4 it wouldn't hold it still. There was a horrible plastic smell/ taste from the appliance which contaminated the coffee. The stainless steel jug kept coffee piping hot which was great but was difficult to pour and very heavy when empty. I took it back to the store and was given a refund but told that it wasn't their policy to do so since it had been used and had been on display in the store. It took about an hour to repackage it - a total waste of time and effort. Poor design John Lewis - all in all VERY DISAPPOINTING!

The Fact That This Coffee Maker Has A Timer Swung

The fact that this coffee maker has a timer swung it for me when looking for a new machine. However, the machine doesn't have a hotplate, but uses a thermos-style jug to keep the coffee warm. Well, that's the theory. The coffee starts to cool very quickly, and a second cup 10 minutes after is lukewarm. It helps keep the coffee warm if the thermos is filled with hot water for 5 minutes before brewing, but that means the timer can't be used. A waste of £60 - don't buy! I intend to look for a hotplate coffee maker with a timer: does anyone know of one?

How do I clean this product? The cleaning light is flashing.

coffeekid1958

Works only intermittently - light goes on as normal but sometimes its just dead and others it works fine. Any idea what is wrong?
