Redundancy For Profit... Mongrels!
I was a dedicated Krups man for 15 years...NO MORE!
I have a new XP51 I purchased in Thailand... What apiece of garbage! .. frother breaks every 10-12 coffees...totally useless... It appears that the plastic screw in to the metal join is soft plastic and simply fractures under any heat.
The agent in Thailand doesnt care (like 90% of Thai business) and sent one replacement...it broke in 10-12 coffees. No answering phones or emails about a refund....NOW THE MACHINE HAS BURNT ME... but they are not interested.
I email Krups international ..no reply...dropped an email to the web master... nothing...
This useless machine made about 25 coffees... thats 400 baht or $12 per coffee and crapped itself... so here it is...KRUPS IS RUBBISH!
Well done KRUPS... you spend 15 years building a loyal customer and stuff it in six months... I have had a SAECO at work for 3 years ...perfect and now a Gaggia at home...also perfect.

This Was Our Third And Final Krups Machine. The Or
This was our third AND FINAL Krups machine. The original and best died when the bottom of the box we were moving it in fell out and it smashed on the floor :(. This one leaked into the bottom tray from new and the extent of the leakage increased over time until finally, it must have blown its gasket (see other reviews) and leaked 100%, no longer capable of producing coffee or steam. It would not have been so bad had the float in the tray actually worked and given us imminent warning that a flood was about to occur.
The steam nozzle was almost useless as a milk frother - for this to be effective, the heating element has to be on all the time, as with our previous two Krups models. From the start, the machine vibrated so much that it was necessary to hold the small espresso cups to prevent them from being shaken away from the coffee being dispensed.
The hard plastic (bakelite?) handle on the filter holder cracked when knocking out the used coffee grounds and thereafter would only stay on when wedged into place with a match stick. On one occasion it fell off under the vibration of the machine, rolled off the worktop onto the floor and broke in half - needing to be super-glued back together. Why did they use such a brittle material for the handle?
All in all, a tiresome product full of design flaws that was tolerated rather than appreciated. The contrast between it and our new Gaggia machine could hardly be greater.
i agree with the comments above \. i have had 2krups machines in 2 years and i had the same problems as the above the leakage . i was thinking of getting my 3rd but since reading the comments above i have change my mind . i thought i was over using it but have realised its not just the ones i have bought other people have the same problem \. its the machine
we have one as well, infact, its our second.. The first one basically blew up! The second one now wont let the steamer work.
Im so mad as it was over £100.
trying to get a hold of KRUPS is impossible too.So now looking for new coffee machine, which WONT be a KRUPS!

I Bought My Krups Xp4020 Espresso Machine & Coffee
I bought my Krups XP4020 Espresso Machine & Coffee Maker a couple of years ago and for a while I loved it. I only use it for espresso and it seemed to do a good job. But now the filter basket leaks steam and hot water badly; and although I've changed the gasket it remains unusable. I've read around the internet and this seems to be a common problem. So never again Krups...

Sorry But My Krups Xp4020 Espresso Machine & Coffe
Sorry but my Krups XP4020 Espresso Machine & Coffee Maker was a complete disaster. I think it might have been the gasket that went (the main brewing area?) It only lasted under a year and when I contacted Krups they said I had no comeback because I bought it from Ebay beware! Am a bit peeved.

Avoid This Krups Xp4020 If You Like Good Cappuccin
Avoid this Krups XP4020 if you like good cappuccinos, as the milk frother loses steam flow part way through the frothing process. This is due to the delayed response of the thermostat, so boiler is late switching on as the temperatue falls. The milk froth consistency is therefore poor - not a dense creamy froth. But good for espresso coffees. I took mine straight back to Lewis's.

This Is My Second Krups Xp4020 (the First One Went
This is my second Krups XP4020 (the first one went back to the shop within a week as the gasket died!) and the last! It's slow to heat up, you have to sit and watch it, whilst turning the knob various times in order to get to the heat stage you want; the frother nozzle pops off into the milk jug often, because it over-pressurises, sometimes it 'thinks' it's at temperature, then it changes its mind and just delivers brown water.
Spend a few quid extra, I wish I would have done in the first place. Gladly my beloved shares my coffee related frustrations and has promised me/us a new machine imminently :0 so I'm off to buy a Gaggia!

Like Other Reviews I Agree Its Noisy But So Is A K
Like other reviews i agree its noisy but so is a kettle or the tefal quick cup. To produce boiling water that fast i think that its going to be noisy. I wouldn't say it vibrates like other review stated and you certainly don't need to hold the cup! I think for the price this is a very nice piece of kit that does the job in hand.
