Recommended For Beginners, Though Not As Easy To Clean

The Great:

It's a good juicer, easy to use, does a good job very well on hard fruit and veg such as apples, pears, and carrots. Quality materials, sturdy build, and not as noisy as thought.

The not-that-great:

Not that easy to clean as on commercials. The fruit leftover doesn't all go into the canister, and you need to clean everything right after juicing otherwise it gets stuck there. It only takes 2-3 minutes though.

Also it's not so great on the softer or smaller fruit like plums or grapes, and you'd get better orange juice from a citrus juicer.

You have to drink the juice fresh, otherwise it goes oxidised after a while, but that's the case with all this type of centrifugal juicers.

The guy who designed this should go to the top of the class. Easy to use and easy to clean. I'm not normally fond of gadgets but this is brilliant.

I Gave This Philips Hr1861 Pro Juicer As A Gift To

I gave this Philips HR1861 Pro juicer as a gift to my wife, concious that she is not as fond of gadgets as I am but the fact is that we both love it.

The juicer, which I bought at John Lewis to the same prices as many of the internet stores comes with the juice-master book by Jason Vale. If you look beyond the fact that the book is undoubtedly sponsored by Philips there are some very interesting recipees in here.

Anyways the juicer: It is made of brushed aluminium and thus matches our Siemens / Porsche kettle and toaster very well. I'd say it is the most stylish juicer out there.

The detachable parts that all go in the dishwasher are solid and easy to remove and refit. If anything the spinning filter can be a bit difficult to get out but that is just if I should mention something.

The leftover fruit in the pulp container seems very dry and schredded so it appears to me it is really doing the best to get all the juices out.

The motor is reasonably quiet until it gets hold of e.g. a pip, which sounds nasty - then I am getting all worried about this wonderful gadgets well being but it just throws it into the pip container.

This Juicer Is Great, It's Easy To Clean If You Cl

This juicer is great, it's easy to clean if you clean it straight after use, just don't leave it. All the parts come apart easily. I read somewhere that people find it hard to get the cutting blade out, but if you remove the whole shoot the blades come with it. It even comes with a book to tell you ways to make loads of drinks.

I Use My Philips Hr1861 Pro Juicer 2- 3 Times A Da

I use my Philips HR1861 Pro juicer 2- 3 times a day and its fantastic, before this model i had a Jack LaLanne juicer which was good but didn't get as much juice out of fruit and veg as the Philips does. It's so easy to clean as well either in the sink or in the dishwasher.

We Have Had The Philips Hr1861 Pro Juicer For Arou

We have had the Philips HR1861 Pro Juicer for around 9 months. My wife used it daily for some weeks. It has not been used for months now, and I consider we are food-health conscious people. I tried to use it myself a few times in this last week, to take advantage of the quantity of apples in the garden. I am far from impressed. The assembly is fussy and illogical. The cutter refuses to be disabled by hand, and needs 2 screwdrivers (or spoon handles) to lever it out. Cleaning is a nightmare. It takes a full 10 minutes to disassemble, empty and then wash and rinse every piece.

The design team should be shot, or even better, be made to clean one every day for a month. And I say this as an engineer who does know something about functional design.

Mammyg - sssshhhh ! You have added nothing worthy of note.

Overall it sounds a better juicer than the Matstone which I was interested in buying.

mammyg

I cannot help but notice that it was his wife that used it for a few weeks, and then the juicer was not used for months. If they are that health concious it would be used every day as is mine . By the way I live on my own. As an engineer did he actually read the instruction book, also another point you never start a sentence with and !!

leelondon

I honestly believe you are using a differnt juicer! If there is one thing i would say about this juicer is the desgin is brilliant. the pulp collector comes out and slots in almost like magic. And as the other commenter said, lift the under the spout and under the plastic casing on the opposite side from the spout, the whole things lifts out with hardly any force! rinse everything under the tap and put in the dishwasher, so easy! The dsiegn is cool, i find the pulp isnt as dry as it should be

wannabe12

If you just put one finger under the spout and one on the back of the juice collector section and then pull up the whole part comes up easily along with the filter inside it, soooo easy no need for spoons or screwdrivers.
