Worked One Time

Wanted to get a better machine than the chinese junk and was willing to spend more (in this case, a -lot- more), to get one. This machine literally chopped one onion and then stopped. That was it, it died right then and there. Williams Sonoma was great and took it back no questions asked. All in all, it was pretty massive and the plastic parts seemed fairly heavy duty. The three switches on the front panel were sloppy though, and had a very cheap feel to them. Too bad none of the American companies have the guts to build anything any more. Oh, well, I guess it's back to the knives.

I have same problems with rust spots on the blades. The company refuses to replace it (new product, less than a year !!)

Problems Within 10 Days Of Purchase

After many years of delaying this purchase due to the hefty price we finally took the plunge. Within 10 days of purchase the plastic spindle started to chaff which results in the blade spinning in an oblong manner. Heard that people used Magimix machines for decades so pretty surprised.

We had not done heavy loads, just slicing and chopping, mainly onions and tomatoes.

So What!? This is the whole point. All food processors are not built like they used to be. My Kenwood food processor is 25 years old & still going but the new ones made with a different Parent Company are rubbish.

Handle Spring Rusts So Looks Dirty, Blade Stripped By Bread

Although powerful and quiet it does not chop all the vegetable leaving big chunks that fall into the main mixture. The handle is impossible to keep clean and stains over time looking dirty from rusty spring. Spare parts expensive like new blade £30 needed after stripped by bread dough. Previous food processor I had lasted 20 years this has lasted 4 years expensive too.

Now very happy with 30 year old kenwood machine - with metal parts !!! to cope with dough. I was given this by mother in law who used it when her children were young too. cost 0 - value 10 out of 10 and easy to clean.

Magimix 4200

I have had this item for just over 3 years and have just run out of the guarantee period. Initially, I found it was difficult to use but I did get used to it.

Problems have been:

-Small inner bowls spill over when in use...very messy.

-Large bowl leaks when blending soups.

-The egg whisk is rubbish - you can't make a homogenous meringue!

However all this could be forgiven if it was a durable product, which you would expect by the expensive price and the brand name. The spindle has flaked off, and so I now cannot use the product (even though the motor still works). I have noticed that this seems to be a common problem from the reviews. I would NOT buy this product again or recommend it to others... DO NOT BUY as it is NOT VALUE for money.

I've Only Had This For 12 Months And Has Hardly Ev

I've only had this for 12 months and has hardly ever been used. The spindle is flaking off and the machine is useless as it is unable to spin.

The customer service is terrible. They advise that the machine should not be running more than 30 seconds, not even at intervals. Beats me how they can market this product as a heavyweight. If you want to make dough go with a proper dough maker.

It Is A Robust Machine For Chopping And Cutting ,

It is a robust machine for chopping and cutting , but it is not a user friendly apparatus for mixing and or dough making. Many of the recipes in the accomanying book are untested and frankly are not worth using, refer to a good cookery book instead. The service standards of Magimix in UK are appalling - 3 months for a cutter disk!. Would I buy again? For cutting and chopping yes for anything else no.

I'm Not Keen On This Product Because There's No Va

I'm not keen on this product because there's no variable speed, you just have either on, or off.

My previous processor - a Braun, was brilliant because it had 12 speeds, so if you needed to fold something in gently you could. The Magimix just does everything at full pelt.

Luckily, I didn't buy mine, a friend lent me hers to see if I liked it and I don't.

My Experience Using The Magimix 4200xl For Their O

My experience using the Magimix 4200XL for their own pastry recipe has been a disaster on the two times I've tried. On both occasions the dough blade inside collar has been stripped and it's become jammed on the machine motor shaft. And no we didn't overload the machine, alter the recipe or overrun the timings.......it was all exactly to the Magimix recipe instructions both times.

Magimix email help has been prompt and apologetic, but the fact is the machine fails and damages the machine when pastry making. Now it seems the nylon motor shaft needs to be replaced.....the Magimix response after viewing emailed photo's of the shaft and dough blade inner collar.

Magimix now tell me as the machine is not in the UK my guarantee null and void, so another disappointment. In other respects the machine has worked OK, but were now reluctant to make it work hard for fear of damaging any other attachment blade collars. In my opinion the hype & promotion that Magimix is durable, tough and capable of hard work is in reality a myth.

For the record, the machine is in Malaysia. I bought the machine Cheltenham UK in late 2008 while on holiday, having it shipped over to me in Malaysia June 2009.
