Worked for a few years, then the fridge periodically stopped working because of ice building around the fan. This necessitated frequent defrosting, and a waste of food time and time again. Also very noisy.

Compressor Knackered After 4 Years
I bought this in 2009 and the compressor is now shot 4 years later. Same problems as the reviews above: blows fuses frequently but irregularly. Got to the point last week when I replaced the fuse 4 times, so time for a new fridge. I think 4 years life span is extremely poor for an appliance that costs hundreds of pounds. I'll be avoiding Hotpoint appliances in the future - I think they're built in Poland nowadays.
A number of people have mentioned the noise of the compressor, but I must admit this has never bothered me. It's definitely audible however, and I'd imagine it's at the top of the decible range for a fridge freezer (50db+).
Other than that it's been great. If you're buying this second hand, avoid.

We purchased this fridge 3 years ago and have had problems in the last 12 months. It is by far the noisiest fridge I have ever known but in the last year it has stopped working on numerous occasions. Each time we have only realised this when opening the fridge and realising the light wasn't on and the temperature soon plummets afterwards. I checked the plug first assuming it was a fuse issue and when I replaced the fuse and plugged it in the fridge came back to life. Fast forward 1 hour, excessive popping noises and off it went again, we repeated this process numerous times before it stopped switching itself off. After that no problems for 4 months and then one morning we found the same problem had occured. We managed to get it working again and no problems for months until today when it has gone off again. I have found that removing the fuse from the plug and then putting it back in seems to get it to work, sometimes for a matter of minutes and sometimes for months. I have just looked online for problem solving and having read these reveiws don't feel assured that asking for an engineer would do anything other than cost us money. Disappointing as the fridge looks good, is spacious and reasonably priced.I would not recommend this fridge to anyone it's really not worth the hassle and I will certainly be doing my homework before purchasing my next one.
Avoid Hotpoint Products Made In Poland - They Are Useless!
My mother bought this a couple of years ago. It is soooooo noisey when the door is closed - a fan inside sounds like a jet engine taking off and clicks on/off every 30 minutes or so. Most other frostfree's rarely cycle this internal fan, so why does this happen on Hotpoint? She asked me to find another to buy, as this rubbish keeps her awake at night (upstairs and you can still hear it!)
Wouldn't bother calling out Hotpoint out - just look at their reputation on these reviews and others.

What A Load Of Junk.
Since buying this poor excuse for a fridge freezer, we have had nothing but problems with. The last 'fix' required a circuit board. The 'engineer' from Hotpont manged to fit the wrong one so had to come back to fix it properly. It's now gone again so into the skip with it.
My question is why on earth does a basic fridge freezer need a circuit board? It does nothing more than any other fridge freezer that I've owned. The thermostat is all that's required. Obviously the circuit board is to stop owners repairing it themselves. In the past I've repaired numerous fridges with a simple thermostst replacement.
I used to really rate Hotpoint but they have gone VERY downhill. Will never buy another.

Warning - Fridge Stops Working , Which Really Mean
Warning - fridge stops working , which really means you need to switch it off and defrost the freezer. Not good for a frost-free freezer. And boy is it noisy. It sounds like someone using a power tool to take tiles off a wall.

Bought from a local trusted supplier but this is a mistake. The constant compressor/fan noise with the door shut is very intrusive. The refrigerator part has just stopped cooling. apparently because something in the freezer may be iced up! What a crazy, illogical control system.

I Bought This Fridge Freezer As It Was Recommended
I bought this fridge freezer as it was recommended by my local electrical shop. I was looking for another brand but they said they were having reliability problems with that brand since they had transferred production from Germany to Poland so recommended the Hotpoint Future Frost Free FF175B. Thirteen months from new, it was warmer in the fridge than in my kitchen. I rang Hotpoint and they sold me an expensive extended warranty, the technician duly arrived and left it worse than it had been but he assured me it would get better after a couple of hours, by which time he would be long gone. It didn't. Another technician arrived a few days later replaced something, de-frosted it and asked me "You haven't been opening the door have you?" I replied "I thought that was the best way to get the food in!"
I have now discovered that if you de-frost (frost free?)it every 2 to 3 months it is ok. It warns you when it needs done by the temperature in the fridge going up to about 15 degrees C !!
If I had known that this "quality" "frost free" fridge freezer would be this bad I would have never bought it. Can't wait to get rid of it.
Same problem with my one. I defrosted it every four months for two years and have finally given up and got myself a new fridge freezer. I will never buy another Hotpoint appliance again!
I have had the same problem.I have been offered a replacement, only trouble is it is the same model

If this is an American made product...we need to get out our wallets because we are sure going to need to bail them out. But this product is probably only distributed to poor people. No one in their right mind would purchase this product. This product is maybe only sold to poor people.I am poor and I dislike it very much. The landlord provided it as a replacement for the real frig I use to have in the apartment. I am sure the landlord does not own a hotpoint anything! If someone gives you a hotpoint anything they probably don't like YOU! at all!
