Worked For 11 Years!

So it does makes some odds noises but you are warned about that in the description, but I've had mine for 11 years and can't believe it is still working.it does get a bit cold if you push things right up to the back but nothing significant and nothing broken etc. I guess the good teviews probably never make these sites and whilst I would agree it all feels a bit flimsy I can't really complain!

Not So Bad

We've had ours for 6 years or so much like many other reviewers. Nothing has broken, fallen off or needed replacing up to now. Now getting the icing up at the bottom issue. Also for some reason the freezer door handle fills up with condensation. Still does the job and wasn't ver y expensive so all in all not that unhappy.

Hotpoint Ffa97 Fridge/freezer Failings

Had this fridge freezer for 6 years, and kept in the garage so the burbling and noise hasn't been a problem.

I have never called out a service engineer to it, but have replaced both salad trays and all the freezer drawers, as well as the freezer fan unit. The plastic of the freezer wall is too thin, so when the drawers crack - as they will - the interior rails get damaged, so that the drawers aren't properly supported. The milk bottle drawer of the fridge broke a long time ago. The unit has iced up many times, and caused the fan to fail once. I'm currently trying to get the fridge to work at all - either the airways from the freezer are blocked with ice, or the air flap motor/sensor at the top of the fridge is broken. Sure, the fridge/freezer is large and stylish but the materials and build quality is very poor. Also, the airflow design is flawed - it has to be with so many people reporting the same fault. It is also true that most white goods manufacturers just want their products to last just beyond the statutory warranty period in order to sell new products or make more revenue from service. Be warned, don't buy Hotpoint.

Yes all the shelves on my door cracked and fell off and the salad drawers cracked within a year of purchase. Rubbish.

Had the same problems with plastic parts cracking and breaking on my ffa97.

how ever my f/f is in the kitchen. Was wondering if your other problems with ice, defrosting and airflow problems are due to fact that yours is kept in a garage? Most fridge freezers cannot cope with temperature extremes unless its a heated and insulated garage or you purchase a fridge freezer suitable for normal type garages. I puchased a beko which is designed for just such use and has been fantastic! Far better than the hotpoint.

Hotpoint Ffa97p Ultima

We bought ours 6yrs ago,and although its been very noisy from day one,it has always worked as it says in the instructions..Only started playing up in the last 6 months wher fridge is not cooling properly. After looking for faults on the internet,i removed cover at top of fridge [inside] to expose the flap [damper]and this was stuck in the closed positon,so stopping cold air from being passed into fridge from the freezer..Within an hour the fridge temp was at normal.I have got the flap taped in the open position and am waiting to see if this affects the running of the freezer..Apart from the noise it makes ,the ff has served us well, but I wouldn't buy another. On the other hand,we still have a hotpoint F/F that we bought 11yrs ago, that has never let us down, and that was a cheap one compared to ffa97p..

Absolute Pile Of Kak

have had this fridge freezer now around 5 years and have had the same issues with it as everyone else,i bought it to match the ultima washer i had,

light cover in fridge has never stayed on and constantly drops off, salad drawers cracked after a few months but i could live with that, all the freezer drawer back corners snapped off,and one drawer when openeing it the handle split it in,the main issue is the leaking,it has done this for as long as i can remember and freezes up so bad at the bottom of the freezer round the drain hole

i have pulled this out numerous times removed the panel defrosted the drain hole only for it to bunged up with ice again the next day and water all over the kitchen floor, the bottom drawer is now frozen solid and wont come out as i have tried to remove it to defrost again, and what has really annoyed me this morning is that it has actually pushed the drawer forward hence pushing against the freezer door,i get up this morning to find the freezer door slightly ajar and after doing my shop on saturday the whole contents of the freezer are mush! ,all the repairs say leave the freezer off overnight after defrosting it but how the hell is that possible when you always have food in a freezer,i dont know about anyone else but my freezer is never at the point where i can switch it off to reset,i thought i had it set at too low a temp causing it to frost up but its on -18 you cant have it any warmer than that, jusdging by the amount of people who have had issues with this it has to be a common problem and hotpoint should have done something about it,now if i want to replace my food im gonna have to put a claim on my house insurance and end up paying the first 100 quid which apart from putting my policy up next time just is not gonna be worth doing as there is probably about 150 quid worth of food in there so pay 100 to get 50 back just feels pointless i hate hotpoint!

Not Good At All

Very noisy, so noisy in fact that I have recorded it to play to the repair man when he arrives. It is still under 12 months warranty, but when you ring the repair centre they leave you holding for ages, and then try to put you off calling them out by telling you that if the appliance is not at fault you will be charged over £100 for the repair. Not good customer service and not a good product at all, NOT recommended!

Not A Bad Product

I must be one of the lucky ones I've had my fridge freezer about 6 years now and never had to defrost it once, admittedly the drawers are starting to crack but with the amount of use mine gets its not really surprising. Could probably do with a bigger fridge freezer but its adequate for a family of 4

"looks Good But Very Poor Quality"

I bought the Hotpoint FFA97 fridge/freezer roughly 6 years ago, but in the first 6 months of buying, the salad draws cracked. It makes banging and crashing noises which are so loud that in the middle of the night I have often thought someone was breaking into the house.

After 12 months all the freezer draws had started to crack and are now not useable. I looked into replacing them but it was really expensive.

Have now taken the draws out as they had become in useable and I kept catching my hand on them. So now have to stack the food in without the draws making what should be an easy task a living hell. I have now also lost the large door tray in the fridge which broke off as I went to place a pint of milk in it.

It was an expensive, looks great but the quality is poor. I would not recommend it to anyone and will never buy Hotpoint again.

The cost of replacing all the inside compartments I need comes to around £150.

Frost Free??? Poor Quality And Not As Advertised.

The freezer needs defrosting every 6 months, the drawers are week and crack easily. It got 1 star because it looks good, but unfortunately does not do as I would expect. By all means buy this frost free unit if you want frozen veg and salad, you want to defrost it at least twice a year and if you want ot buy new drawers. Unfortunately only found this out at end of warranty!!!
