Works Great In Small Kitchens.

Works great in small kitchens because of it is higher than a normal fridge but a lot slimmer. It's offered in many great colors… also a very pretty white. It's one of the only refrigerators with pretty sides. Looks authentically vintage.

Good Looking Rubbish

The Fab32 looks great, and that's all I have good to say about it.

It just doesn't work as it should. Condensation and uneven temperatures cause my food to go off very quickly.

It also needs to have more weight in the base, the centre of gravity is way too high and it rocks a bit just opening it. I've gotten out the spirit level and made sure it is correctly positioned but it is still wobbly.

The layout is dumb, the crisper drawer scrapes the base of the fridge and the bottom freezer drawer jams and is a total nuisance. I honestly wish you hadn't bothered with the egg tray; it's so useless as to be practically an insult. Where are you even supposed to put it?

Far and away the worst fridge I've ever bought - and the most expensive - its performance is so poor it's practically false advertising to call it a fridge.

I'm sending it back, so I cannot comment on the durability but I wouldn't hold much hope.

Faulty Freezer Door.

the retro smeg has a design fault ie freezer door. mine broke after a 6 months, currently on my third one, which are very expensive to replace, smeg know this is a design error but undeterred choose to ignore the millions of complaints, don't buy waste of money. Style over substance.

It's All About The Name!...

After saving up for this fridge/freezer (FAB32YAZ £1,300) to go with my new kitchen 3 years ago, I can safely say I'm 100% disappointed with it.

All 3 freezer drawer fronts have snapped and broken, it's freezes up so easily and often, it has no auto defrost.

The top shelf in the fridge broke and I got covered in yogurts when opening the door one day. It's constantly wet under the salad drawers at the bottom... The drainage hole seems to block up easily.

When I spoke to a customer service representative her reply was that I shouldn't over load the shelves and it was general wear and tear of the fridge! It's 3 years old!! I have a 2nd fridge & freezer in my garage of a much cheaper make which are over 10 years old and still in perfect working order.

The only positive thing I like about this product, is the colour and style ... A nice pale blue which receives lots of compliments... Until I tell them how rubbish made it all is!

I wished I had know about this cheaply made poorly designed product before I wasted my money... As Smeg don't want to know about the things that go wrong.

I waited in a queue for 20 minutes awaiting to order numerous spare parts for it (which are extortionately priced). I wonder why??

Yes... Because a high numberSmeg appliances are breaking and require spare parts.

Warning... Don't be drawn in by the name because that's all it is....

Lulled By Looks

I am so disappointed with my Smeg FAB32QR fridge freezer which I bought 5 years ago for over £1200. The capacity is so limited that I had to buy a back up fridge to keep in the shed, I have had to replace endless handles, drawer fronts and trays which crack and crumble and the freezer door seal (never having sealed terribly well has now split and is riddled with mould and I cannot find a replacement as the model seems to be discontinued rendering a 5 year old fridge virtually useless.

I feel stupidly seduced and will not make that mistake again.

A Different Experience - Touch Wood.

I have had a FAB32 for 10 years with none of the problems encountered by the other reviewers. The seal to the freezer section has finally perished but what do you expect after 10 years? I can fix the seal with some silicone. No need to buy a new door.

Good looking, but very poor value for money. The door seal does not make contact in one corner, the seal and then the door was replaced but the problem remains. Service was a real struggle, had to haggle for every call out, in contrast to the excellent service from Neff and Miele for our other appliances. The build and material quality is poor, worse than our previous fridge which was a quarter of the price. Screws fall out, bits break. There is permanent wetness at the back (common) and it requires defrosting regularly. And the capacity is less than it looks because the door is so thick.

Costly Rubbish Quality

Saved up for a great looking fridge freezer. That I got.

However, it has broken down 4 times. Each time it involves loosing food in it. An average of 10 days to get it repaired. I took an extra policy out with Homeserve for insurance repairs which is something you really do need with this freezer. It is not a great service though. You have to wait for a repair gent to actually turn up and then assess the problem. Send for a part if needed - another week and then wait for him to fit you in to do the actual repair.

Why does such an expensive item with such a good name of Smeg keep breaking down? We had compressors, leaks from the pipes at the back. Today we think it is the thermostat.

So as beautiful as it is I would say do not waste your hardearned cash on it. Do not forget having to be available for them to come to your house as aswell, at least 1 repair will be over 3 days.

Victory For Style Over Performance

50's look with 50's technology. Freezer door seal lasted about 6 months so freezer constantly icing up( no auto defrost naturally). Can you buy a new door seal? no of course not you have to buy a replacement door at £400+

Now compressor for freezer has packed up which means it is not economic to repair and can gladlt be consigned to the skip

only scores 1 star because of ease of use- you have to open a door! and style which I guess is what sucks the punters in.

Poor Door Seals.

The seals do not touch the fridge all the way around as it shrinks in the top corner. Presuming this is what is causing the condensation.

Had door replaced and the same thing happened. Reported it again and engineer did not turn up. Top shelf in freezer broke and screw holding it in fell out.

The skin over the fridge is coming away slightly which I can live with but it shouldn't be coming away.

Looks fantastic though but I am not convinced that this is the fridge that has been tested to last for 15 years as the website suggests.

Trying to get a refund which is a bit of a nightmare. Am sorry I was seduced by the looks but that's not the first time being seduced by looks has cost me a lot of money and heartache.
