AEG Favorit 86070Vi

This must be the worst dishwasher in the world. It doesn't dry properly, the design of the plate supports is poor, cups or glasses fall over. No matter which setting is used items are always wet, DO NOT BUY

The most annoying problem about this machine are the collapsible plate racks at the back. Given the size they are clearly meant for standard dinner plates but when loaded up the plates hit the top of the rota blade. My plates are basic dinner size so this is obviously a design fault, I use the front plate rack instead but this is too small and the dinner plates roll out, also when the tablet is released into the machine it sticks to the plate at the front preventing full cleaning of all crockery. I have to open the door when the machine has moved onto the main wash to ensure the tablet goes into the bottom of the machine. I also frequently put two good quality all in one tablets in to ensure thorough cleaning as otherwise there are still stains in the cups etc. The dryer is a waste of time and energy, it simply doesn't dry any better than leaving the crockery in to dry itself. I switch the machine off as soon as soon as it has finished the hot rinse. On the plus side it has a classy interior, a lot of money to pay for that though.

Broke after 2 years of 4 times a week use. Cost to repair £175. AEG not interested in taking down any sort of complaint and completely wash hands of any problems. DO NOT BUY

We are fortunate to have room for 2 dishwashers.Every one in family avoids the AEG even though it costs twice the price of our other machine. What more is there to be said - avoid AEG.

Problems - needs to run at max setting to clean properly, erratic drying and layout of racks poor for UK use.

Only good thing is it is relatively quiet.

had this model of AEG d/w about 4 or 5 years in total, first one broke completely after just over 2 yrs. offered discount off replacement, only went for this option 'cos knew it would fit in space. the 4th cutlery basket has just given up the ghost, limped along with it tied together with wire, cutlery drops through broken plastic and stops arms rotating. DONT BUY AEG complete over priced rubbish. our Bosch d/w lasted 12 years on one basket and then was passed on to a friend who used it for a couple of years.

I think the £298 price is wrong, we paid a lot more than that for ours, and it is worth much more than that, the price I think is around £700. I have seen the cheaper dishwashers for £250 and I would suggest you save yourself the hassle, as this is brilliant. We have never had a dishwasher before, so having the AEG Favorit 86070Vi installed was a novelty, and the idea of having clean dishes done for you is something you wonder why you never had a dishwasher before. The appliance was easy to install, with a Aquastop valve on the end, that cuts off the water supply if there is a leak, which is good peace of mind. The dishwasher is rock solid, very high quality and sturdy. We had a odd problem of the door not balancing correctly, but once we had the kitchen frontal fitted, it balances smoothly. The door is not stiff to open, and is easy to open and close. The racks are dark grey and look smarter than the awful white ones, these too are easy to pull out and push in and very sturdy. My only nitpick with the baskets is that they could be better designed, with better flexibility, but still we manage to fit everything in, even the steamer bowls and every pan, especially after a Sunday dinner. The top basket is height adjustable on one side, shame it isn't adjustable on both, but having this gives you flexibility so that you can put small plates and pan lids in the top rather than below. The cutlery basket could be a bit bigger, but fits snug in the lower rack. The fixed plate racks can be annoying, sometimes plates have seemed to roll out of them. The rack as two rows of folding plate holders, not that you would need to wash so many plates. Folded down, there is plenty of room for pans and bowls. The wine glass holder in the top rack is annoying, not very good when you want to load cups, but you can remove it quite simply. The filter is easy to clean and remove. Once you have put your detergent in, switch the machine on, and press the programme that is all there is to operating the machine. We use Morrisons 5-1 tablets, and there is a special function button to optomise the tablets efficiency, and dishes come out really clean and sparkly, even glasses and cutlery. We use the automatic programme which senses the dirtiness of the load and alters everything about the programme to suit, such as the water consumption, temperature and time. The machine is relatively quiet, and a handy red light comes on at the bottom of the door to remind you its switched on, we had to keep going back to it, just to make sure it was working! It is excellent, and well recommended, it has the performance and reliability you would expect from AEG and does not disappoint.
