AEG Lavamat-Turbo 16820

My Aeg lavamat washer dryer has just died. It’s 8 years old BUT has had fairly light use . I calculate that if I’d used it all year for just 3 days a week it would only have lasted 4.5 years!

When it worked no problems until a year ago when it started returning to beginning of a wash cycle when it should have turned itself off at end of program.

Now it’s completely dead, no lights nothing.

I did do my research and this machine had good reviews. Wish I’d checked out Samsung back then.

I’m not buying Aeg ever again… I’m going to try Samsung. Let’s hope it will be as good as my Samsung fridge which I love!

After a bit of research I settled on the AEG Lavamat Turbo as it had fairly good reviews. The washing machine worked great except for the vibrations during the spin cycle. The third month arrived and out of the blue the problems began, to date I have had a repairman out six times (cannot really call them engineers). You would expect the problems to be isolated to a certain system but they were not, we had problems with the drive belts, burnt out switches for the dryer, I was then told this model has a manufacturers defect with a wire that was to short and vibrated off when the machine was on spin cycle. The next problem started just yesterday, now the washer dryer floods up and overflows through the washing powder tray, after checking that there are no blockages all we can assume is that a flow switch of some sort has gone wrong but we will have to wait the two weeks it will take for the "Engineer" repairman to arrive. The next visit will be number seven so I reckon I have reason to be a bit irate at AEG.

I have an AEG Lavamat 16820. It has worked fine for the last 2 years I got it (used, came with the apartment).

Now last week the lock broke, meaning you cannot open the door normally. I called my usual technician (not AEG), he came yesterday and he couldn't dismount the door layers as they are glued together, I saw it myself. He took the door in his workshop and called me to tell me he still couldn't open it up. I called the AEG service and they told me the door is very easy to open up, juts unscrew the 6 screws, which is a false information. Finally I checked the Internet and I haven't found a single post of someone being able to take this door apart, NOT a Single POST. On the contrary lots of posts of people who Couldn't open it up at all.I am not sure what will finally happen but getting it repaired by AEG is not an option (just getting the guy here is more expensive than a new machine), changing the whole door would cost around 200€?

Result IF THE LOCK breaks on you, and this happens a lot, very often, check the post on the Internet YOU CAN THROW THE WHOLE THING TO THE GARBAGE because it obviously has been designed with this in mind.

My rating is not based on the qualities of the machine when it works but on the fact that with such a slight glitch it is good for the garbage.

I feel deceived and I am never going to buy anything from AEG again since they have so little respect for their clients.

I'm surprised at the two bad reviews. I got my AEG after a lot of research - it came second only to MIELE which was more than twice the price - in the Which report.

Its great, so quiet that I think its gone off - only the 1600 spin is noisy and that is for a short time only. I love it so far.

Our AEG Lavamat-Turbo 16820 produces awful vibrations - Bought through Sainsbury's and when we contacted then received extremely poor and rude customer service. AEG unhelpful too. Lost the best part of £450 as they were not even willing to send out an engineer to help. I would never deal with either company again.

Not sure if it is my washing liquid (ecover) or the machine but our clothes just don't get clean enough. Especially my one year old girls body suits. Its a shame because the features on this machine are great and the choices of cycles are numerous.

I've had this AEG Lavamat-Turbo 16820 just over a year and it works great. I've not had any problems with it (touch wood).
