I Avoid The Hotpoint Brand Now.

Yes it smells. Tried everything; hot washes, washing machine cleaners, checking the hoses. No success. Leaving the door open is a must! The BIGGEST PROBLEM is the way it knots everything together. If it has arms or legs it is going to be knotted. Shirts are a nightmare. They come out in one big matted ball and it isn't a case of just separating them, I literally have to unknot them! I have tried different wash programs and I have even buttoned up the shirts and turned them inside out so the sleeves are inside. Very, very annoying. It makes ironing them harder too!

Nice Machine

iv had my machine for about 4yrs it has been very reliable, clothes do get smelly if left in the machigne over night but not after a few hrs like some peoples, i havnt ever had a mildew problem either and i also have never needed to put it on a boil wash to clean the machine. i love the child lock which stops my daughter changing the program half way through and i love how u can stop it when u like if u forget to put something in.

Never Again !!!!

We bought ours about 18 months ago and have nothing but problems, like others mildew is a huge problem and also socks/underwear managing to escape the drum and end up in the pump, the machine has been apart approximately 10 times to remove items etc and now today is the final straw with the door seal coming away when on a wash !! We have always bought Hotpoints and have never had a problem until now and after this experience, never again !!!

Haved Loved And Hated It At The Same Time!

My Aqualtis looks like it has finally reached the end of its life after 4 years. At first I was very pleased with the machine - it was super silent, in fact I had to keep checking that I have actually turned it on. It has a very large drum which is obviously great if you have a family. Now for the bad points. Yes, the smell. I've never owned such a smelly machine. Hotpoint very kindly told me I needed to purchase their cleaning sachets, at a cost of £25 for two boxes. This does not help, in fact I think the machine is even smellier after using them. Then there's the mould, even with the door and detergent drawer left open when not in use, you will get mould, which is very difficult to remove. My other gripe is the useless wool wash - from day 1, my washing has come out covered in a slimy residue where I suspect the rinse/spin cycle is flawed. No matter where you put the detergent and whatever you use, the same problem occurs. Hotpoint of course denied any design fault. Now, just after 4 years after buying the machine, it has become extremely noisy on the spin cycles, especially the 1400 spin, accompanied by a slight knocking noise. I didn't take out extended warranty, but as it's still covered for parts decided to book a call out. Hotpoint's website is extremely misleading, stating service call out from "just" £85. However, be warned that, according to Hotpoint, this is for "small items" and a call out will actually cost £40 x 3 installments = £120, or "their most popular option" which will cover me for this repair (big of them, plus anything else for 1 year) £11.99 x 12 installments which is £179.88!! Needless to say, a new machine is definitely in the pipeline. Overall, this machine does have some good features, and some bad features, but is clearly not built to last

Small amendment - 1 year cover to cover this repair and anything else for one year - £14.99 a month, not £11.99 per month, for 12 months. Sorry for typo!

I Also Have The Problem Of The Smell, It Absolutly

i also have the problem of the smell, it absolutly stinks, i do a boil wash at least once a week anyway and the machine is still really smelly, hotpoint dont want to know about the problem, so if you are thinking about buying this wasing machine, think again. apart from the smell it washes alright, but you have to be at home when you do your washing as when the wash has finished you have to take the laundry straight out of the drum otherwise it will stink and have to be washed again.

As With Other People, I Have Had A Problem With Ba

As with other people, I have had a problem with bad smells in the washing machine (Aqualtis). In fact, this happened in the first year and an engineer was called out and suggested I moved to a powder detergent (Ariel) rather than a liquid. He down loaded some latest software, I moved to a powder detergent. Several years down the line, I still have problems with it despite putting it on regular hot washes, putting bicarbonate of soda and bleach through it. No one else seems to have this issue, and I never thought it was the model of washing machine, until I read these reviews. I would not recommed this washing machine on this basis. I have put value for money at 2 starts on the basis that you don't get a clean wash due to the smells.

Had This Hotpoint Aqualtis Aqxxf149 Since It Was N

Had this Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXF149 since it was new to the market, no problems except with mildew on the door seal, even though we never shut the door when its not in use, however this could be down to us not using the boil setting from time to time.

Never give any problems, does what it says on the tin

The Hotpoint Aqualtis Aqxxf149 Is Super Silent In

The Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXF149 is super silent in use - cant hear the machine washing - spin cycles are very quiet - wash results comparable to Miele machines. Quick wash is brilliant. Machine can be paused and the door can be opened after the cycle has commenced for that sock you dropped on the stairs..... Child lock and delay start are useful features. Large wash bag provided for duvets / pillows. Spin speed of 1400rmp appears more efficient than other machies of similar speed - reducing drying times. Good variety of programs and options such as extra rinse, variable temp and spin speed. generally a good all rounder! The drum door opens really wide. Have had the machine for two years, used it every other day - no problems - brilliant wash results. Energy efficient machine. Funky new design....

After 18 Months, The Pump On My Hotpoint Aqualtis

After 18 months, the pump on my Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXF149 stopped and it look a very reliable local repair company a long time to source the new part.

Three months later, the whole thing has conked out after behaving erratically, refusing to switch off, putting the child lock on itself, etc.

Reading the other postings, having tried a selection of different wash cycles, detergents and fabric conditioners, I have now finally worked out what the mildew smell is!
