No Problems For 12 Years
Wow reading these reviews I realise how lucky Ive been.
Had mine for 12 years with no problems until last week when I came home to a flooded kitchen and a sink full of water not draining away. I think its now time to replace it.

Great Washer Dryer...
We have had our machine for 7 going on 8 years now. We have had an engineer come our once for the thermostat, but I thinkl that was possible overuse when baby arrived and I used washable nappies!
But after 4 years on and a family of three, plus washing of dog bedding I cannot fault this machine. It has done us justice. And we were told sometime ago that most washing machines/washer dryers are only built to last for approximately 5yrs so this one is going strong.
I am online today to buy a new drum paddle as one has gone. But given that we have had it for so long it's no wonder. And the £8 to buy one and replace it myself is far cheaper than buying another washing machine.
No complaints here. Only gripe is the dryer is quite noisy and takes a long time. But given that this is a washer dryer I know from previous experience that it is normally a longer drying time with a combined unit.
Would highly recommend. And we ae more than happy with this machine.

Fine
I was surprised to read some of the negative reviews on here, have had my machine for some years now and all is fine. It can be a little bit noisy on the spin, but it's only for a few minutes and probably sounds worse as I'm on a second floor apartment. Washes well, spins well. Good value for money.

Dryer Sometimes Stops And Lights Wont Stop Flashing.
when i start using the dryer, after a minute or so, it stops, the lights on the buttons flash quickly and i cant switch it off by the on off button. the only way i'm able to switch it off is by the main point. it doesn't happen regular though and only started in the last few months after 5yrs, but i would like to know why this happens?
the falshing is a fault code you need a hotpoint engineer to check it out

Causes More Stress Than Anything Else In My Life.
Do not buy this washing machine. It is unreliable and not fit for purpose.
I live in a shared house and this is the washing machine that is doing duty for the whole house. It is in no way up to the job. In the six months I have been here it has broken down twice, refusing to drain, and frequently does not dry clothes properly. It is very noisy - especially when you put it on 'fast spin', which is the only way to squeeze some of the water out so that your clothes are not sopping wet.
The first time, I thought maybe I could have a look at the filter and fix it myself - we all know coins, socks, etc. sometimes get trapped in the filters of washers and dryers. Forget it. This machine is completely closed, with no user-servicable parts and no access to the filter. You will be calling out an engineer every couple of months just to remove trapped items. Plus, in attempting to move it, I managed to dig up the linoleum in our kitchen, which my housemates were thrilled about.
Today, the kitchen flooded because the machine refused to drain. I suspect that again a sock or other item has worked its way into the mechanism of the machine. I have traipsed all the way to the laundrette with a heavy sodden pile of washing only to find that the place was closed - cue traipsing all the way back. I am now soggy, late for work, and have a bunch of clothes that are drip drying onto my laminate flooring.
The Hotpoint Aquarius WD440 is an horrific machine. If you like wet clothes, a damp house, stress, and spending money on engineers, go ahead and buy it.

I Have Had The Hotpoint Aquarius 5+5kg Wd440 For 3
I have had the Hotpoint Aquarius 5+5kg wd440 for 3 1/2 years, and we haven't (touch wood) had any problems with it! The dryer isn't great, but I thought was the case with most washer/dryers...??? I just thought I'd share a positive view as ppl mostly like to complain and rarely say much when it's praise about something.
Now I've done this it will break..lol

We've Owned This Machine For 6 Years. In That Time
We've owned this machine for 6 years. In that time it has failed 8 times. Door lock, new drum, new circuit boards, new motor, new support blocks, new support springs, blocked filters, 2 floods and most recently it now needs a new power board. Will now be replaced with a different brand.
Hotpoint service engineers are good when they eventually arrive but they usually take about a week to come and hardly ever have the part required which then takes another week. When you have children and are washing every other day this is unacceptable. Would not recommend Hotpoint or this model to anyone.

Had Mine For About 3 Years And Had Problems The Fi
Had mine for about 3 years and had problems the first time about 5 months after we bought it when a hose inside was rubbing against the concrete around the drum. Hot point replaced the hose and cable tied it back. Then a few weeks ago we started getting water all over from the washer, closer inspection revealed that yet another hose, this time the waist hose had been rubbing against the machine casing and had split, easy problem to fix with a new pipe but now the door will lock but the door lock light goes off immediately and wont start the wash/Dry cycle. I presume it may be the door lock censer.
I would advise again Hoover Washing machines as well.

This Washer Dryer(wd440 Polar) Has A Very Signific
This washer dryer(wd440 polar) has a very significant fault but to be honest as just a washer i never had a problem but when it came to drying about once every 6 months the heater box, fan and thermo switch assembly had to be replaced due to the brass collet holding the fan to the motor shaft was brass so as brass has a higher rate of expansion of that of steel over time as heat had an effect and the fan simply fell off the motor shaft if this has happened to yours you will see white powder on the door seal as the nylon fan grinds down in the heater box i owned this machine for 2 years whilst it was still under guarantee when the engineer on his last visit informed me it was about £200 to fix out of warranty with fitting i spent a little money on a bosch washer dryer and that's great

Don't Touch This Machine - Now 3 Years Old, And On
Don't touch this machine - now 3 years old, and on my 8th repair call out - 2 new circuit boards, new heater lement, fluff jams upo the works, but it needds a service engineer to clear the filters.
Q&A
Is it worth buying a 3 year old w/d 5kg Hotpoint?
Is this a reliable w/d? Is it an A or B rating to run eg economical?
