broke down at least 10 times.... each time more expensive then last....

I purchased this washer in 2005, it is a pain, the worst for getting clothes clean, tub had to be replaced before 5 years old, not the "mother" board is out. The only way to get any water into the clothes to even mix with the detergent is to run every load on bulky items. This was the most expensive washer I ever purchased and the worst I ever bought. It takes 68 - 70 minutes to run a load, not economical at all.

Nothing is good about this Neptune TL machine. Within months the bleach and fabric softener dispensers failed, and have never worked despite cleaning and repairs. The noise from the very first wash cycle has been hideous. Clothes come out tied in knots and wrinkled horribly and even my steam dryer can't get the easiest fabrics even semi wrinkle free. Because clothes become knotted so badly with other pieces T-shirts get stretched to the next larger size. (Not a joke.) Very expensive machine has required hundreds of dollars in repairs after a dime became lodged in the mechanism. The repairman said, and I quote, "I'll see you again if you keep this machine".

I will never trust Maytag again nor the consumer review magazine. As with cars those guys are bought and paid for.

I waned to buy a machine from a reputable American company, not even sure they are American any longer, but will not due so again.

Finally you don't buy a washer because of it's looks but this thing is downright ugly and appears to be a model from the '50s.

Worked good for about 5 years then clutch went and I replaced it and it tested fine. We installed it upstairs it worked for one wash and then the tub seal went out and then the motor control board went out. We had a hard time getting the washer in service mode to drain. I don't even want to mess with this thing I will get a new washer and have pay sears to haul it away. Piece of Garbage.

I bought this unit for my wife in 2005 because this is the one she wanted. After a year the control panel went out and the service tech came and replace the $90 part plus a $65 install fee. It ran great for another 5 years before the same contol board gave out but this time I purchase another part online and replaced it myself. It's now 2012 and still running strong, no odor, noise, nothing. Would purchase another but by the time this one dies it will not be available.

I am a disabled Vet. Most folks know it takes months and sometimes years to be approved for and recieve your disability compensation. So when I finally recieved my back dated compensation, I was very happy to pay bills. After I was caught up on everything, I saved enough money to go shopping and buy any washer and dryer I wanted, and sooo desperately needed! My wife and I have 8 children between us, 6 full time. We needed the biggest, most relieable, and most energy efficient washer and dryer on the market. My plan was to go buy the LG front loading washer and dryer with all the bells and whistles. Well next thing I know, a Maytag Rep happen to be in the store while I was there. So the store salesmen, and the Maytag Rep, ambushed me and talked me into the

We paid almost $900.00 for this (then) high rated Neptune TL To Loading Washer 7 years ago. THE WASHER DOES NOT GET CLOTHES CLEAN & TWISTS THEM ALL TOGETHER. Very noicy and last week the dc msg comes on during last spin cycle stopping the water from discharging. Like other reviews, the machine smells like mold and the clothes smell as well. The customer service rep on phone was no help at all. Wish we had spent half the price on a reliable Kenmore. The really great part is customer is left with a wet load of final rinse, tangled clothes THAT ARE NOT CLEAN. Machine discharges final rinse water only if machine is empty otherwise it stops working at final rince stating dc (off balance). Will never buy another Maytag product. Should be recalled.

I bought this unit used but less than 1 yr old. It came with dryer also. I did get about 2 1/2 years of use. Although, I did have errors such as -dc, fl, uc, or something of the like. It stopped working when the lid would not lock or unlock. something that simple. Why does it even need to lock. Anyway the part to replace the faulty lock was $60.00. $60.00! For a lock. Well, after I finally found the part. I needed a washer and the laundry mat was getting expensive. So, we bought the part. I'm installing it tonight. Hopefully this works.

This is the worst washing machine ever built. Mine recently broke after it just stopped spinning while washing. The repair man said it need a new circuit panel or something like that, but that was my ticket to freedom. I can't wait to get my new washer and dump this POS.

My husband bought me this Maytag Neptune top load washer when he retired to replace my 20 year old Kenmore Elite ,Big Mistake i have had nothing but problems with this washer have had the repairman out to house many times. The last just before the warrenty ran out , it kept stopping in middle of cycle code dc . Guy told me washer was fine just needed to have a large load to work , hah , joke , so i stuff it now husband and son-in-law rebalanced it on normal washer makes it through the cycle (this is after four years of stopping in middle of it ) but at the end of this cycle clothes are all knotted together,I'am seriously thinking of just purchasing a cheap one to replace this one .
