Rock Solid For Years

We've had our W487 WPS for just over 14 years. Its sadly dead ( along with a blu-ray play, computer, dish washer and cooktop) after our house was struck by lightning. It washed clothes better than any previous machine we'd owned or used and had been fault free up until its death. Its extremely quiet and smooth, even when running a full speed 1800 rpm spin. Our experience with service from Miele over the years has been pretty good. turning up on time and giving good advice and quality repairs.. We bought it original for the 95 degree cycle, the high spin speed, washing drum honeycomb design and water efficiency and all of those features have been great over the years. I'll definitely be buying a Miele replacement without hesitation.

Anything Else Is A Compromise.... Yeah Indeed

After 14 years of use I must say it's a precious solid machine!!! I live in Greece that's why I haven't ever wanted a dryer so,I rarely used spin speeds above 900rpm ! , altough i have bought it due to its high-end motor (1800rpm). Some years ago I have been told that by using spin speeds below 1000rpm increases the longievity of the machine -true story indeed-.

I paid 1650€ on 2003 but it worthed every cent!

Happy I finally found a website to share my experience. Thanks

I Bought My Miele W487 Because I Live In A Flat An

i bought my miele w487 because i live in a flat and i work shifts so i wanted a quiet washing machine that i could come in from work, and put my work clothes in, turn it on and go to bed and not be woken up by the machine. i am so pleased with it, its the quietest machine iv ever owned.

it has every program you ll ever need, you can choose long or short programs depending on your needs.

the machine was very heavy so was awkward to get into place but thats only done once - so i didnt mind but it goes to show how solidly built this machine is! - amazing. it also has to be carefully levelled once in place - this took a little time, but it runs so smooth and quietly it was time well spent. mi

mine has the 10 year guarantee that was offered at the time of purchase but iv never needed it.

i am delighted with my washer and would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of buying one. quiet, reliable, solidly made and easy to use.

Miele W487wps To Last For 20 Years?? This Is One O

Miele W487WPS to last for 20 years?? This is one of the worst product I have ever had. Took forever to wash a load, noisy, expensive and unreliable. I will pick any brand above Miele. The phrase 'Made in Germany' is such a myth!

All German made products are low in quality and high in price. A recent review from Drivetimes of the New York times has rated Mercesdes Benz & BMW the top 2 most unreliable cars! They are made in Germany! Funny that. Germany Quality?? Or is it more like German arrogance!

Owned product for under a month? I smell a rat as a Miele has at least a two year guarantee- mine a has five year one. Some details of its failures would be informative and how the company responded.

Or just possibly this is an antagonistic, made-up review from a competitor? As for noisy and taking too long, my experience with my Miele is the exact opposite compared with previous cheaper machines- maybe you have not levelled it properly for instance, or have not removed the transit bolts- did you actually read the instructions?

well the miele w487 wps is my second miele washer(i bought my first miele washer when i was 19 years old, second hand from my grandmother). The first miele never failed, rally never until it was just over 24 years old. For almost 11 years i have the w487 wps, it was made for the future: 1800 rpm , the panels from the machine are made from anemal(can't rust), stainless steel tub!!! The whole machine is made from heavy materials which last and last . You can slam the door ,its made from steel and very thick glass, its an intillegent washer too. the machinekwows how much weight you put in and so how much wather it should use and how much time it needs to wash. It is a fast machine 1:26 h for a 95 degrees celcius wash. It is quiet 39 db for wash 60 db for spin at 1800 rpm .

This miele never broke down so far and did a lot of washings already (family of 6).

That is such a load of rubbish. Miele are still a family business in Germany, they make appliances to a quality NOT a price. I have personal seen machines that were over 30 years old and still going strong.Made in Germany is not a myth,,try the quality of "made in Italy"..then you can complain!!

adamhornsby

Miele unreliable eh? Lets turn to super duper Indesit, Hotpoint, Beko and Servis then, because they are so damn reliable. No, I don't think they are.

Dr X

I can understand that the machine isn't great, but tarring all German manufacturers with the same brush is just plain ignorant.

For instance, have you ever tried an age washing machine? They're now owned by Electrolux and still made in Germany. Theoretically for people like this reviewer that would put people right off, but fact is they don't go wrong...

My Experience With My 3 Months Old Miele W487wps W

My experience with my 3 months old Miele W487WPS washing machine was not good at all. It took Miele a full month to finally accept that they did not know what was wrong with the washing machine. Once I contacted Miele for an engineer it took an average of a week waiting with no working washing machine to have a visit. They do not let you know the time they are coming till the evening before (after 5 pm), not giving you any other option other than to ask for a whole morning off work. It took Miele 4 visits to accept that the machine needed changing. In every visit the engineer changed a different piece but he did not know the fault. I felt as if they were experimenting with my washing machine, but not repairing it. To finally have a new machine delivered is even worse as they only tell you the day and not even if it will be morning or afternoon till the day before, with the problems that this causes having to rearrange meetings at work and taking again time off work. All this was even more frustrating considering that I live about 15' from the Miele factory in Abingdon. They just did not want to help. At no point did they know the cause of the problem with the washing machine and for a month I had to go to my friend's house to do my washing.

I am not going to buy any more Miele electrical goods, as with the money from this washing machine I could buy 4 or 5 cheap ones at my local shop, so when they fail I could have another delivered at a time that is good for me. From Miele I was expecting not only a good washing machine but also a good service and I do not think the service I received justified the price of their electrical goods. The worst thing was that I had to use 3 half days of my holidays to have that sorted and I think this is VERY EXPENSIVE and unacceptable for a company proud of they "forever better" philosophy. Beautiful machine , but not worthy of their reputation.

Unreliable? One machine doesn't make a company unreliable, considering Miele have a very low failure rate. So tell me, an Indesit is more reliable is it?

Somehow, I don't reckon so.

Miele W487wps Washing Machines Are Designed To Las

Miele W487WPS washing machines are designed to last 20 years of use and a lot are still going after 30. This is down to the legendary German build-quality. You might think, what is the point in paying a lot of money for a washing machine, well the first time you use this washing machine you will be amazed at the wash performance and with this washing machine having a 1800rpm spin the clothes are hardly damp.

Also, have a look at the work that has just went into the door on this washing machine. You can see that this will take years and years of slamming and opening. I would reccomend visiting the Miele web site at www.miele.co.uk and see all the features that they have on. One of the features that I find useful is the light that comes on when you switch the washing machine on and the light also comes on when you are emptying it. You will never leave another sock in the washing machine again.

How many British-built washing machines last that long? I had a Hotpoint washing machine previous to this and I had it 8 years and in that time it had broke down 6 times, ranging from buttons sticking in when it was only a month old, new door catches after 2 years, set after set of brushes and then finally the plastic casing where the draw sits had cracked, causing water to leak all over the kitchen.

With the Miele W487WPS, the motor in it has not got brushes in it so it will never need a set of brushes bought for it. At the time when I purchased the Miele, there was a promotion on from Miele for a free 10 year parts and labour warranty (that is having faith in the quality of these washing machines). I would reccomend anyone who wants probably the best washing machines you can buy, then you should buy this, you won't be disapointed.

whitegoodsman, the machine was 3 months old. Legally, yes the retailer should offer an exchange or refund within a reasonable period of time, if the product is unsatisfactory. However, unless in exceptional circumstances, in retail, it is widely accepted that 28 days is a reasonable amount of time, and therefore most retailers interpretation of a reasonable period of time is 28 days, which legally has to be displayed or stated at time of purchase. After the reasonable period of time has expired, like it had, the customer is entitled to a repair, or an exchange should the product be unrepairable under warranty, provided the product has failed due to a manufacturing fault. However, this is where it gets difficult, because virtually all manufacturers will require the appliance to be inspected by their engineer before authorising any repair or exchange, because a minority of consumers will and have consistently abused manufacturers warranties trying to claim for damage they have caused.

All things said, a good retailer like an independent business would take it up with Miele to move things along should there be any problems, as they rely on their reputation. However, don't expect much help from your chain stores like Comet and Currys, because let's face it, if you went there because of price, it's not surprising you won't get any help.

whitegoodsman

hi, why didnt you take this problem up with the retailer they sould have exchanged for you
