Wonky Worktop And Wonky Units
Purchased a kitchen in 2018. Did not leave a review as I forgot and have just found the review request. 6 years later ????
Anyway. 6 years down the line and even at the time I had issues with the fitting.
In hindsight, I hugely regret having chosen ikea to supply and install the kitchen.
The worktops are not level, so rises up by about 20° as one gets to the end. We have quite a long worktop. Maybe 3mtrs.
The in built dishwasher and washing unuts are all wonky, and they always have been.
The inbuilt fridge and freezer were wonky and when I complained they couldnt see the issue. And worst of all the installation team left the worktop hanging off the side wall, so it was protruding out. When I complained to ikea kitchen they made out there was nothing wrong and it standard. How is having a worktop sticking out beyond a surface normal ???? it was eventually put right.
But avoid. Worst experience ever

Unbelievably Awful Customer Service Experience!
Paid for the 'professional' kitchen planning service as we had no idea about all the technical specs and wanted to get everything right fit etc. Paid for the 'in house' service which cost £20, to be refunded when you actually order your kitchen. This took several phone calls (often over an hour wait) and emails to action, alarm bells begin to ring but I've already signed up for the installation so try to be hopeful. Deliveries arrive, installer and team arrive and are really decent hardworking guys, fit everything great and note that a few items supposedly delivered are in fact missing and therefore remedial work will need to be done. And here's where the problems start...
Ikea was notified of this straight after installation finished in the first week of Nov, missing parts were delivered in between, but still waiting nearly 2 months to be finished. I've lost track of the emails and hours on the phone, customer service is absolutely APPALLING - all auto reply then a different person who asks for all the details all over again as they haven't read your previous 18 messages or case history - there is NO continuity or tracking of a case. When I phoned and was insistent, the advisor was all very nice but again had no clue what I was on about so I had to explain every aspect all over again, then they would fob me off with promising to make a note of escalating it to a 'case worker', which actually NEVER happens! When I eventually did get email replies they were rude and arrogant in tone and always put the blame on me! A seemingly small issue which I thought would be resolved easily has taken over hours of my life and caused much undue stress. A kitchen part that was part of their professional planning service doesn't fit or work as intended but they are not taking any responsibility for this point, saying that as it was installed correctly they wont offer a refund.
I am taking the case through Resolver Uk and the Ombudsman and I honestly feel enraged at the crappest 'lack - of - customer service' experience I have ever encountered. You might be lucky and not have to go through the post sales/installation rigmarole (as I'm happy with the actual units/look), if you do you'll need nerves of steel and tranquilisers to get through it! My advice - pay more and go through a proper kitchen specialist who value their customers.

Generally Good But Some Weak Points.
I'm currently fitting an IKEA kitchen myself. With half the room complete already, I feel I can comment. Personally I've not struggled with the instructions, the only exception being the drawers, which appear to provide completely incorrect instructions which if followed will ensure your drawers will most likely NOT fit in the cabinet as planned.
Beyond that, the legs provided with the flatpacks are absolutely useless and prone to cracking and breaking with shocking ease. To illustrate, we managed to snap three, whilst pushing them in or trying to slide a cabinet with the legs in place. Don't. They provide absolutely no assurance they are fit for purpose.
The rest however seems sturdy and looks good. For the price, they are competitive too. Their order list has of course landed us with several bits we don't need or want, which we'll be returning to the store.

Broken Kitchen Hinges Replaced.
10 years ago I installed our Ikea kitchen, no problem until recently a hinge broke. Searched Internet could not find a replacement. Phoned customer services Ikea in UK. They said the new hinges would arrive 7-14 days from Germany which they did. All free of charge very impressed only fair to post a review when things go well. Thank you Ikea.

Shocking Ikea Kitchen Services
What can I say!! Complete shambles and unbelievably poor from start to finish. If I could go back I would never have considered using Ikea Birmingham for my new kitchen. Wrong plans, wrong deliveries, missing products, broken and damaged and non existent customer services or aftersales. Ikea kitchen services, steer clear. At minimum incompetent, at most dangerous practices to your kitchen facilities, verging on the unlawful that they are allowed to continue selling and fitting kitchens reading some of the other reviews.

Bad Sale Staff
Had an appointment at 12.30pm in croydon ikea kitchens and the salesperson was not there. I was told his name and he was in the canteen. After asking again where he is, he turned up as 12.48pm with no apology and a doppy smirk on his face asking if I was the appointment, so I said yes at 12.30pm. He ushered me to a seat and I said no apology for being and his reply was sorry in a dulcet tone. I decided that I would take my money elsewhere with employees who are courtesy and turn up on time.

The "woeful Every Day"
Nightmare from Start to finish. Want a new kitchen?... go else where! IKEA is now a shambles. I had had two kitchens from them previously, all good. This time, repeatedly got the ordering wrong. IKS, who you deal with after design are incompetent. No one calls you back. I have lost count of the hours/weeks/months spent waiting on the phone. Kitchen loaded and unloaded 3 times and delivered to my flat wrongly. Fitting got put back and had to be fitted whilst on holiday. Constant calls from the fitter as more items discovered. Frustration so bad that I ended up under the doctor and seeing a therapist. Complaints are best submitted after the fitting is complete, they'll tell you. These are then ignored. Mine was submitted 4 months ago. If you chase it up, they'll tell you that someone will call you back...they will not! Avoid at all costs

Two Stools Three Deliveries Within 2 Hours
I order two bar stools along with covers to be delivered to my home address. I got a delivery slot from DPD the day before then work up to what appeared to be an earlier slot for the same day. DPD rang the bell and left by the time my husband got to the door. He found two covers and no stools. Having called Ikea i was informed that the order had been split - really two covers couldn't fit in the van with the stools, they fold into not much more than A 4 size. Not very efficient and certainly not helping reduce a carbon foot print. Within two hours one stool was delivered, when questioned the driver said we delivered the 2nd one to your neighbour earlier. It turns out that two stools and two small covers were delivered in three vans over a two hour period. What a waste of time manpower forget helping the environment. ALso not once was I advised that this order would be split so was left running round trying to find out what was happening with my order. Come on Ikea where's the customer service

Everyone Avoid
It’s hard to put into words how to describe the absolutely shocking experience we have had with Ikea - if you could see that state of our kitchen because of missing parts and how they have let us you’d be shocked! We ordered in march, booked instal for July and it was November till the fitters turned up.
Kitchen delivery sent to wrong address, taken away, dumped in the depot where items were lost and resold!!!! and redelivered 3 weeks later with half the stock missing. No work tips, no appliances, not cupboard doors, just some shells, a tap and some handles.
It took 2 weeks of battling with IKEA to get any appliances sent out upon which they charged us an extra £1500! On top of the fully paid kitchen which we did on finance with the threat if we didn’t they could come and take everything away … even though we’d had our old kitchen removed by ikea services meaning we would have been left with nothing.
We are now 3 weeks later and we have half a kitchen, no worktops and our fitters are leaving to go on annual leave till January - I use the kitchen for my business which means I’m weeks out of earning in the toughest time we’ve ever experienced in our lives financially.
The customer service has been the worst I have ever experienced with no one knowing how to proceed and everyone giving us different answers with our communication and now our emails are being ignored.
They owe us lots of money, lots of missing parts and all work and communication on their side has stopped - it’s left us up the … creek without a paddle
Do not use IKEA for your kitchen, they really are the worst I’ve ever experienced.
Customer service training and project management training wouldn’t go a miss … IKEA are far from the reputable company they would like to portray.

Ikea Said It’s Not Ikea Problem
I designed the kitchen using IKEA kitchen service at Warrington, the design team did a good work and provided me quote for the kitchen items, together with charges for installations. As the design is good and the quote is acceptable, then we proceed to arrange pre-installation inspection. The installer visited our property then said we need to add more sockets in order to use the cooker, washing machine, etc. The installer said he will arrange electrician to install the socket with an additional charge. We received the quote and found it to be reasonable, then we made order accordingly. Goods, were delivered on time, and everything looks normal at this stage.
Then installer come over and start doing installation, it’s quick, just go everything done on day 2 and asked me to sign the completion form. When I check the installation, it’s really done, but without the installation of those required new sockets. So the kitchen looks ok and all electric appliances are not connected to electricity. The installer said sockets installation is out of IKEA service contract. I immediacy go to Warrington store to try to make a complaint, but the Kitchen team said socket matters are not relevant to IKEA, I need to talk to the installer.
The kitchen is installed, and it is not not easy to install those sockets behind those cabinets. Service is really crazy and I am struggling how to work out the damage control for the rubbish work done.
Hope this can help someone who is thinking of using IKEA kitchen service, and my suggestion is definitely not go, otherwise you will be another victim like me and other reviewers here.
Q&A
I have a concern about the humidity/water at the area around the sink and how resistant the Ikea materials could be. Any advice?
Please could anyone help me? I'm trying to find the name of the company who fitted my Ikea kitchen last month. I paid for the Ikea installation, and the man who came out from Hull, East Yorks, but I don't know the name of his company, and I need to speak to him/them about some shelves which he still needs to fit. Thanks so much,
It's honestly so easy you could do it yourself, that's the beauty of Ikea
Does anyone have a problem with the fitters Southampton Ikea use?
If any kitchen fitter has an issue fitting Ikea kitchen's then they should be looking for another day job. Fitting Ikea kitchens is almost child's play it's the easiest kitchens to fit in the market other than those that are pre-made. I've not used Southampton fitters but in London the kitchen fitters had my kitchen fitted within the space of a few hours (it's that easy). Anyone who comes and takes a look at our kitchen and its quality think it's from some a bespoke kitchen retailer and their jaws drop when i tell them it's from Ikea and almost pass out when i tell them the price :-)
