Review Of Maybelline
Honestly, Great Lash by Maybelline is THE best mascara I've ever used. I am 54 years old, and for over 25 years I have been using Great Lash!!! Works at an outstanding price every time for length and volume! I will purchase at least three whenever I see Great Lash on sale, because I'm not sure how long Maybelline will keep this product around!!!!

Don't Try It!
I have gone without mascara for about a year, just because I liked the look without mascara. Bought the "brownish-black" and suffered horrible puffy, itchy, red eyes after one use! There is seriously something wrong with this product! I look like I've been on a week-long alcohol bender followed by 3 nights of Steel Magnolias!!
It's too bad because it goes on great and looks great until you want to dig your eyes out.

Beautiful Eyelashes!
I have been using Maybelline Mascara for years. And any time I tried something else I realized that I DO love Maybelline and I still use this mascara, being very pleased. It goes on easily and does not flake. And it makes my eye lashes look full, thick, long and separated. It is easy to remove and doesn't irritate my eyes.

Now I Know...
So I have been using this product for a long, long, time and used to swear by it based on the results it gave me! It gave me the best volume and length than any other high dollar mascara out there! It did straighten them out a bit but I combined the mascara with eyelash curler and my lashes were perfect EVERYTIME. The brush on this product is awesome but that is ALL I miss about it.
Looking back, my eyes have been bothering me for about as long as I have been using Great Lash. I wouldn't say they ever got puffy or swollen or flakey but it was definitely miserable. Walking into a store where they have AC blowing directly on me or any kind of change in lighting really, REALLY, made my eyes so sensitive. I just assumed it was all of the pollen and what not, that Texas is known for, as I have never really had an allergic reaction to anything before. I did also notice that after a few months, while removing my mascara at night a few of my lashes would pull out as well!
I never thought to pinpoint my mascara as the contributing factor and obviously continued usage which is probably not a good thing! As I read everyone's reviews on this product, I can see I'm not the only one! Now that I have switched mascaras (currently using MAYBELLINE collassal lash) my eyes feel SO much better! How miserable I was though for all of those months just to find out it was one of my favorite makeup products! Please, please spend an extra $2 and by a different mascara! It makes such a difference. If you like the brand, buy the one I mentioned above! It does wonders for my lashes AND my eye health!!!
Itchy Puffy Stings
OMG..i thought i was the only one till i found these reviews .Let me just say i have been wearing makeup forever and love makeup and have never been sensitive/ allergic to anything a day in my life ..so i bought this mascara because it was cheap and i just switched from wearing black mascara to brown so just wanted to try how brown mascara would look on me.. and think i wore it years ago when i first started wearing makeup well let me just say the worst mistake ever the brown mascara color looked fantastic but the mascara made my eyes puffy -ITCHY- the next day after wearing it this is a terrible product for maybelline ive used many maybelline mascaras and have always loved them but this one should be discontinued its the worst thing that have happened to my eyelids ever ! now i have to wait till my eyes stop itching and stinging till i can wear my makeup boo you suck great lash number one mascara i think not !
OMG ..WOW seriously that is so horrible ..im so sorry to hear that i hope your doing better now LIND95..but yeah this seems very common i still cant believe that this happened to me since im so not an allergy prone person ,,I CANT BELIEVE THIS STUFF IS STILL ON THE MARKET !!
My eyes got better after a week now im using Cover Girl lashblast Volume..no problems and i can usually always use any mascara cheap or not and never had the reasction i did with this stuff.
Good luck i hope your better now and if not it will get better in time just dont use any makeup till you feel it not itching anymore.
I usually use Cover Girl mascara but decided to purchase Maybeline Great lash instead, big mistake. This horrible stuff made my eyelid itch like crazy. I woke up the following day in horror when I looked in the mirror and saw that my eyelids and eyes were swollen red and puffy. I looked as if I had been badly beaten in the face. The following day I started getting this yellowish discharge all over my eyelids and had to see a doctor and was told I had a case of pink eye. Never again will I trust any of Maybelines cosmetics. I had only used this mascara one time and ended up with two infected eyes.

Swollen Puffy Eyes
i have thrown this mascara in the bin, it has made me feel so ill . All around my eyes have puffed up and the skin has gone dry and flakey . I have also suffered headaches and had pains behind my eyes it has been terrible. I bought it because I thought it was a good make at an affordable price but would never use it again .
I had exactly the same from Maybelline's falsies mascara. The allergic reaction developed in to an infection. I'm now 6 weeks down the line and my eyes aren't better, even after various over the counter treatments, and strong antibiotics and steroid cream from the doctor. Wont be using any of their mascaras ever again!
Now Allergic To Great Lash After Using It For Many Years.
I am now allergic to Great Lash after using it for many years. Maybelline, you have recently changed your formula, giving me an allergic reaction of severe itchiness, redness and puffiness. I will never use this product again. I tried two newly opened tubes of mascara and had the same reaction twice. Never again.

Sensitization
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one, but I had used this mascara for years and developed an allergy to it. Now if I use it even once my eyelids immediately get red, itchy, and puffy. I looked online and it said it may be the shellac ingredient. I use Almay now as it is hypoallergenic. I would rather go without makeup than use this product again.
I know it's "affordable" but I would also add that it's very wet and takes awhile to dry which I don't like either.
Allergic Reaction
red swollen eyelids - I checked whether it was my daughter's cat, or nail varnish etc. but today I confirmed it is definitely this mascara. I don't wear eye shadow or eye liner so not those. I only hope I can still wear other types of mascara. (PS other Maybelline mascara's like 'colossal' have also caused reactions.

Itchy Swollen Eyes
This mascara SUCKS. My eyes were so swollen today that I couldn't hardly open them, this mascara made my eyes super itchy and red and it was awful, how has this product not been recalled yet?!?! Something in the formula is setting everyone off and making everyone's eyes itch! I know two other people who had the same problem! Take this stuff off the shelves before someone goes blind!
I just came back from the doctors, after spending $75 for a cortizone shot after suffering the same swollen itchy eye symptoms. Only thing that changed over the past 10 days was that I purchased Greatlash mascara.
I have thown it out and will find one that is hypoallergenic!
I've used Maybelline since. . .forever. I'm a former store and runway model. I've never, ever had a reaction until I used the latest Great Lash brownish black mascara. So disappointing. I've always had compliments on my eyes, but there certainly would have been only, "What happened to your swollen eyelids?" comments after I applied that mascara. Bausch and Lomb Lotemax, a prescription for blepharitis (allergic reaction of eyelids) got rid of it in 8 hours. Sheesh! I hope Maybelline corrects this immediately.
