Lovely Place To Live!

I have lived in this accommodation for my whole three years at university. It's a lovely and friendly place to live, with a great management team running it. The team are really helpful and keen to help if I've ever needed it.

I have a bronze room which is a great size, all rooms are ensuite too which is perfect. The maintenance team are good and fix any problems quickly. The accommation has security gaurds that work every night, so it feels like a safe place to be.

It's the perfect commute to university and takes me just over 10 minutes to walk. Supermarkets are within walking distance with Tesco express, Lidl, B and M, and home bargains practically on your doorstep. The accomadation is only about a 15 minute walk from the city centre too.

Brilliant Halls - Love It

Living at Europa is great. Both the kitchen and bedrooms are spacious and modern with a large 3/4 bed. It takes 15 minutes maximum to walk to uni (mount pleasant) and 10 to walk into town. Also, the staff are caring and very helpful with whatever is needed, hosting events throughout the year offering food and drink for any occasion. I have enjoyed it here so far with my great flatmates and living in a comfortable, homely room it can't get much better for me.

Happy Enough To Return For A Second Year

Writing as a parent of a student staying at Europa it is important to know our daughter was in good hands as many parents would. The move in day went well. The room clean only a couple of drawers needed cleaning and sofa seen better days but was replaced on request with a new one. The mattress also replaced an although clean wan not new but on request on the day was replaced with a new one and although slightly thin a mattress topper resolved this.

the girls had serious problems with one of the girls sharing the flat and staff and management were very supportive and helpfull and worked with the uni to sort this girl out which to we were grateful.

It is value for money when taking in considertion when renting a house you will share bathrooms ans a lottery as to what size room you get.

It Was Reasonable

The Room was dirty when I moved in and had to be scrubbed down before I could unpack

The bed is uncomfortable as hell, you can feel the springs coming through, although there is handy storage underneath it

There are fire alarms at the most awful times, this is down to people being idiots

There's a fair bit of noise inside and outside the building, especially in the early hours of the morning, I found myself being woken at least 4 nights a week by someone screaming and shouting outside and ringing the buzzer for our flat.

Theres very little security and staff after 6pm and the main gate is regularly left open

The internet is rubbish, although the provider do offer better internet for a fee.

Laundry is expensive (About £5 per load to wash and dry)

No cleaning equipment provided, but you can rent a hoover from the main office

The location is just ok, theres not much near Europa other than other student buildings and a few shops/takeaways

There is absolutely nowhere to park nearby, there is a car park, but it charges very high fees.

The building itself nice and is kept clean and the staff are nice and try their best to help

Theres instant hot water and a personal bathroom (if you pay extra).

The kitchen is quite large with many cupboards, an electric cooker, a large fridge.

There are sofas in the kitchen area that are very uncomfortable, theres a tv with freeview that cuts out every 10 minutes and doesnt work when the microwave is on.

Our microwave broke and was replaced promptly

Theres a common room that absolutely nobody uses, I go in there just to pick up my post

The flat is very warm a lot of the time, the windows only open an inch or two so its very hard to cool your room down

There are room inspections during the year where staff burst into your room before you have a chance to answer the door, which I thought was very rude.

I paid £115 a week for a 42 week contract, its expensive and University finished for me in April, contract is until the end of June.

Europa say the only way out of a contract is for someone to take it over from you. I couldnt find anyone that wanted a flat for 2/3 months and have been left paying for a flat that I dont live in.

I liked living at Europa, but I wouldn't live there again, its too standard for its high price, I'd rather get somewhere closer to the city.

I think a cheaper student accommodation could probably offer me the same things as Europa.

Insect Infestation Nightmare!!! And No Compensation

Although this particular Halls of Residence is placed in an ideal location for many students here in Liverpool, it does have many downsides. For a bronze en-suite (£5400 for 50 weeks) I feel as though I'm not getting any value for money. We have had our fair share of maintenance issues (Our TV didn't work for 3-4 weeks; our lights would go out regularly; our microwave and oven broke; we were out of hot water for over a week) all of them being repaired sooner or later however one issue that has really affected me and my flat mates is the insect infestation we have in our flat. Now I know what most people will think. We're students; we must be messy and unhygienic. Well no. Our flat is very clean and tidy which is why many of my friends have found it surprising that it's OUR flat that has been infested, and has been so for a good couple of months. What is really annoying is that when we first reported it, the reception staff didn't initially believe us, saying 'the cleaner hadn't seen anything when she was sent up'. After many photographs and videos which were taken as a means of evidence, and numerous emails being sent back and forth, they finally acknowledged it was a problem and sent a contractor up to spray down some residue (a long time after it had been reported). For this to happen successfully, we were told to evacuate our flat for two hours which was fairly inconvenient but nevertheless the issue had to be addressed. A week later and we are still finding these insects all over the place. They had infested both our kitchen and bedrooms and what was really concerning is that we would regularly find them in our dishes so we always had to wash ANY dish before we used it. We would find them in our cupboards and I was unfortunate enough to have found them in my cereal which to that I nearly vomited. The insects are still here after months of having moved in now. I myself found that it wouldn't be unreasonable to ask for compensation for our awful experience however that too was DENIED. Many students in Liverpool know that Europa is a fairly pleasant place to live in, it is aesthetically pleasing and provides a reasonable number of amenities, and however for the price I am paying, I feel I wasn't getting any value for money. I would NOT recommend living here at all. There are other student accommodations that are just as close to the universities as Europa and that will provide a better service without the huge expense.

We were out of hot water between the dates of 5th till the 13th of November according to your records. It’s not so much the maintenance issues that has concerned me; wherever you are you will get the odd break and leak; however it’s the fact that the bugs shouldn’t have been there in the first place. For the money we are paying, insects should not have been an issue and should’ve been dealt with before we had moved in. The fact that we are living with insects leads me to believe we are entitled to compensation because like I said, they shouldn’t have been there in the first place.

Having seen this review we would like to state that we deem this to be an unfair reflection of the actual events. The oven and Microwave were replaced within 24 hours of the issue being raised. There was a number of problems with the hot water and we had a number of contractors out to resolve the issue as soon as possible. We deem health and safety to be one of our main priorities and would never have left any flat completely without water for a week. Yes there have been issues with small bugs in one flat and we did take the issue seriously from the beginning, sending our own cleaners up to the flat multiple time and have taken the advice of pest control as to the best way to eliminate the problem. There have only been reports of a few bugs in one flat and is not a reflection of the entire Europa Property. We are extremely disappointed that you feel this way as we feel we have tried to resolve any issues as quickly as we possibly could. Thank You.
