Toofypegs - Temporary Repair Kit for Fillings and Crowns

Got this in good faith as we've moved & can't get a dental appointment with a new dentist one receptionist suggested i got a temporary filling kit but this one Toofypegs does not work on a front tooth. Just falls out.

A totally useless product.

It does not matter if the plastic filling is soaked in boiling water for five minutes. The plastic(?)gum that is supplied hardens befor you get a romote chance to get it to your damaged tooth.

The stuff reminds me of the used chewing gum found under school desks, only less maluable.

This product should never have been allowed to put on sale to the public. It is total rubbish.

If there was an option on this site to mark it at zero stars I would have done.

This should hen be banned for sale it is rubbish..even soaking for 2 min in hot water leaves you with piece hard plastic..shocked its allowed on sale under trading standards law...it does nothing...how can they sell this knowing it does not do what it should..can't contact them it seems

Followed the instructions to the letter, , I had lost a filling on a bank holiday and tooth was making my tongue sore. This product stuck to the teeth I bit down with, NOT where required. Tried several times. Worked in dentists for 15 years so know how to place a temporary filling. Will be asking for my money back and still have a hole and sore tongue!!! Product goes hard too quick, not leaving enough time to manipulate properly.

What it doesn't say on the packet, and what I am now reliably informed, is that it does not work where there is moisture. My filling came out, my dentist was on holiday, I wasn't in pain so no emergency appointment, but the NHS advice was to buy a temporary filling kit from a pharmacy. So, not much use then. A filling next to a gum, rule that out. A filling next to your cheek, rule that out too. Anywhere where, like me, you cannot get to, to thoroughly dry the area that the filling is to stick to, rule it out. If you ask me it's a very poor product and I took mine back to the shop with the receipt, told them what I think and why, and they gave me a full refund. It just added more distress to an already unpleasant and stressful experience

I've got a cavity and can't have my tooth removed as I've got high anxiety with needles and also pregnant, so they can't put me under to remove the tooth. I decided to get toofypegs just to see if it would work. The first 2 times I tried to insert it, it harden to fast, so, for the 3rd try I left it in the boiling water for 40-50 seconds. Its gone in and have had no problem with that tooth. Its only temp until I can get the tooth removed. The instructions are just a guide line

I followed the instructions to the later, filling stick would not soften enough to be pliable and hardened before I could get it to my mouth, tried the capsule again this set before able to apply,

Followed the instruction exactly for a filling. The stick wouldn't soften enough. After the second time in boiling water managed to get it in my tooth but it didn't feel like it was in properly. The next morning it came out as I was eating my breakfast. Waste of money. Buy Dentex instead. It's already made up and works properly

The first time I used Toofy pegs, it was a disaster! I couldn't get the dental filling to soften enough to mould. It would be soft enough for a few seconds but by the time I'd got it to my mouth and played around etc, it was hard and not sticking. I gave up but never threw the kit away 'just in case'.

This time my experience was much better but I think because I did things differently. I got everything ready, clean mouth, sterilised tools and washed hands etc. I used boiling water straight from the kettle as soon as it clicked off and submerged a fraction of the stick in a half filled dessert size bowl. It took a couple of go's but I managed to manipulate the shape, cut off excess, re soften and stick back in.

I would recommend using boiling water and a tool to remove the dental filling from the water and not your fingers! Obviously be careful not to burn yourself! I didn't find that the filling was too hot by the time I got it to my mouth. Before, those few seconds meant that it was too hard, this time it cooled just enough not to burn but still be malleable.

This was my experience. I wanted to share as I have read reviews of people having the same problem. My instructions told me to use hot but not boiling water. Personally that was no good for me. For the sake of health and safety, perhaps they are not supposed to recommend boiling water (??) and for disclaimer purposes - neither am I recommending it. However, personally, I found that it wouldn't work without. Take what you will from that statement.

I did the filling three hours ago and so far, so good. I have eaten a full meal - although I have been trying to chew on the other side. My 'filling' does not feel loose, nor does it feel completely secure. It feels as though it may hold for a couple of days or so.

I would be happy if this even held for two days! I am currently without a dentist and this will give me a chance to protect the tooth until I can get booked in, even if I had to keep re doing it.

I bought my Toofy pegs from Savers. I can't remember exactly but I think the kit was around £3.50. I'm fairly sure it was no more than £5.00, which, in my mind, makes it good value for money.I do think it would be more expensive elsewhere.

The filling isn't meant to be permanent, nor even anywhere near temporary' dentists filling, (which can actually last for several months) so I think we need to be reasonable in our expectations.

I would like to think that this would last a couple of days to possibly a week or two. I will update on my personal timeline.

I have no experience with the Toofy peg crown adhesive, although, according to other reviews, it seems this is more highly though of than the dental filling cement.

I hope this helps someone. I just wanted to share this review as I know how frightening it can be to find yourself in need of a filling with no available dentist.

PLEASE NOTE -If you are experiencing any throbbing pain, swelling or oozing from the tooth then Toofy pegs are not at all recommended. These are signs of a possibly infected/abscessed tooth and you need to deal with the infection before anything else. PLEASE ring for help and professional advice if this is the case. The sooner you act, the higher your chances are of saving the tooth. Also, if you cannot obtain antibiotics for any reason, please look up 'natural antibiotics' i.e garlic and other natural remedies. See what you think may work for you. Always look into interactions with present medications. Even herbal medicines can be dangerous when mixed with prescription medicines.

My dentist opened a molar to do root canal treatment, closed it with a temporary filling to allow time to heal. His temp filling fell out after 3 days so I used toofy pegs stick. When I returned to dentist he found the tooth had split vertically and had to be extracted. He said my temp filling had been too high so bite pressure was too strong for the tooth.

Dentist said it could be useful if applied more skilfully. He wants a sample so I am getting a friend to bring some from UK (I live in Turkey).
