Moddershall Oaks Health Spa, Staffordshire

MY DAUGHTER SPENT £50 ON A PACKAGE FOR MOTHERS DAY FOR ME. IT INCLOUDED US BOTH HAVING SHELAC NAILS AND A DRINK. THE FIRST APPOINTMENT HAD TO BE CANCELLED. WE WENT RECENTLY AND WERE REALLY DISAPPOINTED. WE NEVER GOT THE DRINK AND THE SHELAC NAIL TREATMENT IS APPAULING. WE BOTH HAD FRENCH POLISH AND ON BOTH OF US THE ACTUAL WHITE WAS LUMPY - NOT SMOOTH AT ALL. AFTER 48 HRS THEY HAD STARTED TO PEEL AND CHIP. AT THE TIME I HAD TO TELL THE THERAPIST TO SEAL MY LEFT HAND AS SHE FORGOT!! I DID SEND AN E MAIL BUT HAVEN'T HAD A RESPONSE. WONT BE GOING AGAIN. FEEL FOR MY DAUGHTER AS SHE IS A STUDENT AND SAVED UP HARD FOR THE £50

We stayed here in Feb 2011. We enjoyed our stay, but felt it lacked something. Robes were available but no slippers. I forgot footwear for the spa so had to walk around bearfoot all dsy. Towels are kept at reception, they should be near the pool/changing areas. The bedrooms were really nicely decorated, but the heat throughout the night was unbearable. No ventilation/air conditioning. I was awake nearly the whole night as it was too hot, even with the heating off. I complained to reception and the girl just said ok i'll let maintanance know! "did u use the fan!" - no apology!! this really spoilt my stay as i then needed to sleep all day, totally exhausted.(not what you want from a Spa day!

The food is amazing there, very good quality so do go for the food but dont stay over until they have fitted air con!! I have emailed the manager to tell him of my dissappointment and have not had a reply!

Booked Sunday lunch in the restaurant to celebrate a 21st birthday. The service was appalling and staff inattentive. Our table was booked for 1.30pm and we were still eating at 4.00pm whilst staff cleared the tables around us! Other diners, who were obviously residents, arrived after us and left hours before! Most of our party enjoyed their food but the vegetarian option of roast vegetables and pasta was almost inedible. Some of the dishes we ordered failed to rrive. The lovely setting was the only redeeming feature of this place. We would not recommend the restaurant and in future will go elsewhere our custom is valued.

I stayed for one night at Moddershall Oaks with my two sisters, Mum and sister in law. We had a lovely time there. The grounds were beautiful to walk around, rooms were perfectly decorated and the food was the best I've ever had(and I eat out regularly). We arrived early morning and stayed in our dressing gowns all day (including over lunch) which was really relaxing. I had a lovely facial treatment and went to a wonderfully relaxing yoga session staring into a candle's flame. The spa facilities were lovely, and we didn't have the same experience as others here who said that it was over crowded - it wasn't like that at all when we went (on a Monday). We went back to our rooms and dressed for dinner, everyone ordered something different, and all commented how tasty it was. I had the lamb and it was perfect. Breakfast was perfect too, the sausages are something special (I think everything is locally sourced, but I'm not sure). I know I'm going on a bit about the food, but I think it's worth saying because it can make or break a stay. Our room had a Jacuzzi outside, which we all had a go in (even though it was freezing outside!). It was great fun. I will certainly be returning, a lovely break from work and motherhood!

Since my first review, I have been invited back to Moddershall Oaks as compensation for the over booking. Hopefully this time we will be able to fully enjoy the facilities.

You walked miles from rooms to spa to bar so never rested really.

Rooms nicely decorated but bathrooms really disappointing and only a patio door in room for ventilation so hot at night - no windows.

Spa area satisfactory, just nothing special and you had to get dressed really to go to bar therefore never bothered to get 'free coffee and teas'.

Treatment area not quiet so you could hear what was going on outside treatment area, some treatments not what was stated in brochure and quality of work not great by staff although they were friendly.

Rooms had hottub outside them which was a nice touch.

We were disappointed by the pool area and steam/sauna rooms as these were small and overcrowded by what seemed like a lot of other spa guests and member of Moddershall Oaks.

We arrived just after half past nine and after a short tour, got changed into our swimwear. We attempted to enter the pool area, however this proved unsuccessful as there was hardly any space with the other spa guests and also an aqua aerobics class. The steam room, sauna room and hydro pool were also full. So we decided on to get a drink from the bar first and try again later.

After the aqua aerobics class we attempted again to use the pool but were unsuccessful again, as the facilities were very busy, so we decided to take a walk in the grounds as we were lucky with the weather.

After the walk, we decided to wait for our lunch in the bar area and I have to say that this was the best part of the day. The food, was wonderful and desserts were to die for.

After lunch, my mother and I tried again to use the pool facilities, but they were again really busy that we felt uncomfortable that we decided at 1pm to completely give up on this spa day and head home, despite the fact that we were able to use the facilities all day.
