Promised Much But Delivers Little!

Unfortunately what promised to be a great experience has been let down by poor sourcing of product and a generally confused idea about what they want to be.

Approaching the building, which is a timber clad affair, you get the impression you will be buying home bred produce which has been carefully and humanely slaughtered and the meat properly cared for.

Instead you walk in and you are immediately confronted by a riot of vegetables, a confusion of cakes, a clash of confectionery and finally lurking at the back, the butcher's department.

The name leads you to think that this shop is selling own reared produce, own grown produce, but everything is bought in. Not one thing is made from or contains meat grown by Samuel's (who by the way is the dead brother of one of the owners).

OK at least you may get quality beef, grass fed and drug/growth hormone free, same with the pork? No chance, they use the same meat suppliers as cheaper butchers in West Lynn and Sutton Bridge.

The only plus with them is they make the GW Franks recipe pork sausages and they did make good pork pies, but unfortunately even the quality of the pies started to fall.

When I bought some stir fry they put the container on the scales, weighed out the stir fry and then charged me the container weight as well. Sorry but I never asked for a container and when that is 12 pence it soon adds up!

The only reason to call in is that Wisbech, West Lynn, Sutton Bridge is further away. They lose on price, quality and now produce as well!
