On My First Visit To The Lush Shop, The Assistant
On my first visit to the Lush shop, the assistant was chatting to me when she suggested I try an Ickle Baby Baff. For £1 you received a small sun shaped ballistic and has a face which would remind you off a baby like face as in the picture above. The Ickle Baby Baff is not as big as any of the other ballistics which can be purchased. It is only about 30g. It was around the size of a fairy cake. A flat fairy cake at that. But for a child it is probably an ideal size.
I took it out of the little bag and had a sniff. I could smell a lavender fragrance in there and something else which I just could not place my finger on. Looking up the website this contains Sandalwood Oil and Chamomile Oil as well as the lavender. Then I noticed it has citric acid in it and it came to me right away. It smells like Ajax that stuff that my mum used to have under the kitchen sink. I have no idea what it was used for but I knew I had smelled that smell before.
The website also says this "The Ickle Baby Baff is one way to get them in there with the minimum of struggle; sometimes, with the promise of a fizzing 'baff bom', they even volunteer. Once in there, the magic starts to work; sedative sandalwood plus calming lavender and chamomile work their sweet, soporific effect on your little darlings so that they drop off to sleep naturally as soon as they are dried off and packed into their pyjamas." With Murray being a rubbish sleeper, I vowed that if he slept I would buy a years supply to help us get some sleep!
So after a particularly stressful day, I flung this ballistic in with the bath water. It was nothing like the ginger man which we had used before. It dissolved into the water very quickly and left the water completely clear. That left a bit of disappointment. The children got on with their bath, but the bathroom didn't smell any different. I had hoped the ballistic would scent the bathroom ever so slightly. I decided to wait and see what happened when I took them out of the bath. Both children had very nice fragrances around them off the lavender. It was very pleasant and neither of them had any problems with their skin. In fact it seemed smoother than it had it a while. Even the following morning a faint whiff of lavender could still be smelled when they passed by me.
The bath was the only place where I felt there was a problem. The ballistic seemed to make the bath very slippy and both children slipped and that was on their bath mat in the bath, so it is essential that bathtime safety is observed closely when using one of these ballistics.
Now it said above that it should help them drop to sleep Naturally. Well it's absolute tosh. Murray was up until 11pm that night and slept badly. Eilidh who normally is an excellent sleeper had a bad night too. So 2 tired children and 2 tired parents the next morning made for sparks flying in the house. It seemed to disturb both children's sleep, and although Murray isn't a great sleeper his sleep was worse this particular night.
I'm not 100% sure if I would buy this again. The only benefit I seemed to see was how soft and nice smelling their skin was after the bath. But I may give it the benefit of the doubt and buy it and give it another chance. It's only £1 so it won't break the bank like some of the others might.
