How To Get Your Money Back!

It would appear a very large number of people have been left with a worthless voucher, a large debt, deposit not refunded, or no photos, because "the company has gone into liquidation".

There's a reason for this. There is a long list of companies that have gone into liquidation. "New ID Studios Limited" went into liquidation on 11 September 2012. The New ID Studios website was then being run by "New ID & Burlingtons 1 Limited (trading as New ID Studios). This company was previously called "New ID Studios Limited", "New ID & Burlingtons 1 Limited" and finally "New ID & Burlingtons London Limited". It too went into liquidation on 7 June 2013.

See a pattern here? Yes of course, we all do. So as each company goes bust, the debts get left behind, meanwhile the same people start up with a new company and carry on as if nothing was wrong. It's called a Phoenix company. Almost without fail the same name of directors crops up for each company.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN LEFT OUT OF POCKET DO NOT JUST WALK AWAY! Report this to Trading Standards, and Action Fraud. Lots of people have already, but the more that do it the better the case they can bring. You won't get all your money back - but you might get some. But you'll also stop these people from doing this.

Avoid At All Costs - Terrible Service, Poor Images, Awful.

Originally booked into the Westfield studio, which closed down before our session. No-one bothered to re-book this for us, luckily I double checked out appointment to then find this out. When I did manage to re-book it I was met by a very rude and arrogant male member of staff (John Princes Street location) before being dealt with by a female who was a lot friendlier.

The day itself was not a wonderful experience. It was OK. The lady that re-booked us was lovely, hairdresser didn't say a word - except when he was a little rude about the condition of my hair, make-up artist was lovely but didn't have a clue about colouring and style, nail artist was very sweet and the photographer was genuinely a lovely guy. The rest of them were rude, arrogant, pushy and had no customer service skills at all.

Offered a drink after I'd been there 2 hours, then another just as we were about to view our images. I was so thirsty! Not the "complimentary drinks throughout your day" as I'd paid for.

Haircuts for the both of us were OK - incredibly basic though, please don't expect anything fashionable or a new style, I literally had a wash and trim and styled exactly as it was when I arrived.

I know photographic make-up requires heavy application, however the artist decided I was tanned (she even said I looked like I'd been in the sun!) and I turned out quite brown (I'm one of the palest people you will meet, even the palest foundations are too dark for me). She also couldn't care less when I told her that I had very sensitive skin, and said "well you're not allergic are you" as she slathered on even more thick foundation.

I had a pale pink lip gloss applied which was nice, but not a strong enough colour as I'd requested, so I asked for bold flicky eyelinered eyes. She told me she didn't do eyeliner on big eyes like mine so I ended up with splotchy black eyeshadow and barely any mascara. I looked like a cheap hooker.

The shoot was OK, we were rushed to change outfits, rushed through a variety of rooms (having to dodge and dive other customers in our outfits, and the sets were dated and battered. These damaged parts, dirty marks and discrepancies weren't even touched up in our images! The poses we were put in were awful, unflattering and just didn't suit my curvy body shape or outfits (I had a short skirt on and was constantly asked to climb on the back of a sofa, thus exposing a lot of leg and on some occasions a little more!). However the photographer was a wonderful guy, but needs a hell of a lot more posing experience in order to justify what they try and charge you for copies of the images, both on disc and print.

Our images were horrific. Many out of focus, a lot over-exposed, some far too dark, nearly all were over-processed post-shoot so we had no eye-colour (Just black circles) or even the slightest wrinkle (looks far too fake!). In many poses my mouth was in between a smile and the common "part your lips" they ask you to do, and my partner had a half blink in a lot of frames. Where my face was so brown, most images where my upper arm or hands were in shot made me look like a half painted oompaloopma.

Upon viewing our images, we experienced a very pushy, rude salesman who tried telling us we weren't allowed "couples shots" as part of our package, and we'd have to pay extra for those. I stood up to him, he got increasingly rude and obnoxious after this as I was in the right according to my voucher - which at the end of the day was the only reason I purchased a "couples" photoshoot!

He let us whittle the images down, he knew some were "maybes" - and then told us we'd need to pay £2000 for them! We kept telling him we only wanted the 6 we'd paid for via our voucher, but he kept trying to get us to buy more. He then told us all the images will be deleted within 6 months, so after that we wouldn't be able to get any more. Oh well, no loss for us!

It really is an average experience with very disappointing results and I'd recommend you invest maybe a little more money in a photographer that won't charge you £50 for a small print, or £100 for one image on a disc. There are so many out there who won't try and rip you off and give you fantastic images at the end of it. Many smaller photographers will also archive your images indefinitely too.

Please avoid New ID Studios, they really are a waste of time and money!

Great Makeover But Expensive Images

Great quality makeover with New ID. The only think you need to know is the prices of the prints that are all on the New ID website but to give you an idea the 5 x 7 print is 50 pounds, the 12 x 16 is 99 pounds and the biggest that is 20 x 24 is 249 pounds. One negative on CD is 100 pounds and a full CD of 20 is 1400 pounds. As you can see from that the images are rather on the pricy side although the actual cost of the makeovers is very low and starts at 20 pounds if you want makeup and a shoot with dry hair styling, the mid range ones are around 50 pounds but do come with 25 pounds credit towards your prints. The more expensive ones that are in the hundreds are more geared towards model portfolio as they have a lot more prints included. The standard of the makeover I received was superb and the staff service was top notch. I think anybody on a regular sort of income would love this makeover experience providing they are only after a couple of medium sized shots that are mailed to you after you leave. I would not hesitate to recommend New ID providing that the person who is going for the makeover is aware of the cost of the shots.

A Lovely Gift From My Friend

I had such an amazing time at the Birmingham branch of New ID when I went there for a makeover. The voucher was a gift from a friend that I got for looking after her dogs while she went on holiday, I was in two minds to start out with but after I had a look at the website I thought it looked like just what I needed, I have been walking around with the same look for as long as I can remember so as I have a friend in Birmingham so I went to stay there the day before and took advantage of the great shopping at the Bull Rink to get some great outfits for the shoot, I took along 3.The following day I got to the studio at 9am, they offered me some Bucks Fizz but it was far too early for me, I don’t drink very much at the best of times so I stuck to the coffee and tea, but there was plenty of it and they were very good about making sure that I had a drink at all times. I had a nice chat with a girl that told me everything I needed to know about the makeover and she helped me work out my new look, that was not so different just a bit of an updated version of my old one.

I had a very nice hair cut by a young chap that looked like he was fresh out of school but it turned out he had been doing hair for five years already and I was very happy with the way that he did mine.

I liked the makeup too and got some very good ideas about how to do it myself and the photo session as a hoot! It was so unbelievably hard to choose the pictures, I would have liked to have all of them but there were much too many. I came out of New ID feeling like I had had the perfect transformation and would love to go again

Makeover And Great Gift Idea

I was trying to figure out what to get my daughters for Christmas when a friend of mine told me that she is getting her kids vouchers to get makeovers. I had a look at New ID online on her advice and thought it was an amazing idea. If you pay before you go for the shots New ID match the amount you put down so I decided to get them each a voucher and put two hundred pounds toward the prints for them that range from fifty pounds to two hundred and forty nine. I then decided that I would go and treat myself to a makeover and booked the deluxe version at fifty pounds. I has the most super half day at New ID and was quite astounded at how gorgeous they made me look. I have not told the girls that I have been and plan to put the framed shots that I got on the wall and have them admire them when they come over on Xmas day and then be delighted with their gifts. New ID is a really special experience and I think a voucher is a great gift idea for anybody out there that can’t figure out what to buy people as I was, I also think it’s a great idea to go along first and treat yourself as I also did!

Makeover At New Id

I went to New ID for my makeover and from the experience I had I think it is fair to say that I rate them pretty highly. The good things are that the makeup is great, I love New ID cosmetics, they last for ages and they come in really cool shades, the way the woman did my makeup was great. She did a chart for me that detailed what she put where, I have brought all of the products that she used on me, to be fair my makeup does look a lot better than it used to but it is not really like she did it! The hair cut was great, I was pretty happy with that, but it was a bit shorter than I wanted! The free drink was great, I am not the biggest fan of Bucks Fizz but alcohol is always better than no alcohol. The photo session was fun but it was a bit rushed as they were very busy that day but having said that the photos were out of this world I was really seriously impressed with them. The down side to this is the price of the pictures it’s not that they are overpriced it is just that they are so good you are going to want all of them and it is a bit heartbreaking not to be able to buy them all but unless you have some serious cash to spend you are not going to be able to get all of them

Sucessful Makeover At New Id

New ID is a great company if you want to get a really good haircut and look and feel great! This was one of the most uplifting experiences I have had in a while and it certainly gave me a much needed boost to my ego!

I have been using New ID cosmetics for few years now, they are very long lasting and surprisingly affordable. I found out about them when my sister when and had a makeover with New ID she brought some home with her and I tried them and then brought some online.

I was really impressed with the makeup that they did for me on that day and have since been back for a makeup lesson that I enjoyed enormously. It taught me a lot about making the very best of what I have got and as we get older I think we all need a bit of that.

The standard of the prints at New ID are really good, I had a makeover with another company years ago and although the experience was good the quality of the prints was really rubbish and it really wrecked the experience for me and I vowed to never use them again.

I was at New ID for about four hours and loved every minute if it, the bucks fizz went down really well and I thought all of the team were lovely. This is probably not something you would do every day unless you have a large house you want to fill with prints of yourself but it is certainly worth doing for the ego boost alone.

Deluxe Makeover At New Id

I found the deluxe makeover to be very successful at New ID. I went on the recommendation of a friend and after I had read so many positive reviews online about them. One of the few negatives things that I have read about this company is that there is often a lot of time that you are in the salon but not doing anything. After I purchased the voucher online I phoned to make the appointment and asked if they could recommend a day to me where I would not be left hanging around as I can’t stand that. They suggested going on Wednesday at 9am which I did and my whole makeover took just over two hours and the only delay I experienced was waiting for the shots to be prepared for viewing and I don’t suppose they can do much about that. There were plenty of shots to chose from and they all had different poses, backgrounds and lighting effects. I was impressed with the overall service that I received and thought that the staff were well trained, well presented ad very friendly. The photographer was very talented and also made me feel very comfortable in what are not exactly normal conditions, it was my first professional photoshoot and part of me had been dreading it as I am not normally that comfortable in front of a camera. I came away feeling very happy and satisfied
