Make Sure To Know All The Details About Your Photo Package!
When we 1st decided to hire Tami McInnis, we were impressed by her photos, she seemed like a pleasant person to work with and also she had good reviews, but I guess reviews can be misleading …
All of our troubles began after the wedding, starting from the photos to the wedding album. When we hired Tami as our photographer we took the 10 hr package to cover all of our special day and we emphasized how important for us that our wedding album will be done by a professional- after all everyone know that what you are left with after that bug day is the wedding album.
So 1st of all from the entire day we only got 390 pictures! (and I’m not counting doubles- same pic as black and white and colour), which on average from what we know and heard from friends usually you would get somewhere between 700-1000 good usable pictures, and some photographers even give you all the raw footage from that day. When we asked for more pictures, we were told that she gave us everything she had, even though we had some pictures that our friends took during outdoor photoshoot (and the pic are great), she still didn’t had those pictures. We don’t have a single picture of guests mingling during the reception or pictures of guests around the table raising a toast or having laughs! and it was 2 photographers (herself and her assistant). And when we requested some photos to be edited (since you see the reflection of the flash, and even her hand in one of the pictures), we have encountered another brick wall. Then when it came to the photo album, that’s were our problems truly began: we have chosen the pictures that we wanted to see in our album (the total no. was 130 pic, over 20 spreads- we have added 5 extra spreads , instead of the print package that was included in the package we chose, as the original album comes with 15 spreads in total), and we would think it was a reasonable thing to do , since she said that she place 1-9 images per spread. But then, she told us to choose 25 favourite pic, which didn’t make sense to us, after long email conversations she said we can have 2 lists each of 25 images, but once again if you would do the math we are talking only about an average of 1-2 images per spread if to divide it between 20 spread. Long emails conversations led to nothing, and a quote from Tami:” My albums are designed to my style and are the product that I offer, just as my photos are my style and cannot be directed through further retouching. I do not take design direction from clients, follow orders on how many images fit into an album”.
We anted to meet up in person, but she didn’t agree to that, which sounds unreasonable to us as clients, but instead we got this reply: “There are no options between styles of album, amounts of images, or layouts to choose from. There is nothing to view, meet about, or direct me on.”
At the end she has refused to do our wedding album and decided to refund us for the “cost” of the album, now we are stuck with a small amount of pictures from a day that I’m sure every couple want to cherish, and with no wedding album, and we need to find a different place to do our album.
What I want to say here; if all of this is not something that you care about as a newly wed couple, go ahead and book Tami McInnis as your wedding photographer, otherwise you might want to think twice before you do so, or have everything written to the dot before you sign the contract!
