I Found Out That My Dad Had Been Giving This Compa

I found out that my dad had been giving this company money for remote PC support. When I dug deeper, I found a company with poor English grammar that seems to provide some PC support for those who ask for it, but also occasionally scares its customers into believing that their PC is under attack, and that it can be resolved by giving them a stupid amount of money to perform a basic task like starting/stopping a windows service.

Example:

My dad: "My ActiveX installer is not running. PC Tech Clinic said this is dangerous and someone can get to all my files and stuff."

Not true, right off the bat. This is a deprecated service for Internet Explorer and is generally not supposed to be running unless you need it for some reason.

Dad: "PC Tech Clinic says Microsoft charges $1600 but they [PC Tech Clinic] can do it for $850"

Do what? Turn the service on? This set off a thousand red flags for me. No way would Microsoft charge a customer to start a service on their PC, nor do they even have the means to do that. And this company wants $850 just to start some useless service that can be started by simply right-clicking it and selecting "Start Service"?

Dad: "They tell me someone in Ohio is trying to get or has my certificate number."

What certificate? And how would this company even know if someone in Ohio is trying to access it?

I promptly uninstalled anything relating to PC Tech Clinic from his computer and told him never to contact them or give them money again. I asked how he even got hooked up with them, and he said TurboTax referred him to them when he tried to download his 2018 return. Ummmm, what?! TurboTax would NEVER do that! Then PC Tech Clinic told him someone was trying to access his tax return and charged him for some b.s. protection thing I'm sure. Whoever he spoke to was not from TurboTax. Which tells me that PC Tech Clinic has set up multiple phishing outlets to funnel people into their service on the basis of fear from hacking scenarios that they fabricate.

Do not give them money or access to your computer under any circumstances. If you don't have a son or grandson who can help (kidding)(sorta), try a local computer shop or GeekSquad type of thing.

They Call Me Dumb

Hi,

I called thinking it was Google support then later found that this company is a 3rd party group. I'm not computer literate and I was disgusting the issue with a technician when he got a little irritated and as I quote him "are you dumb" this made me up set and ask to speak with his manager then I got hung up on. proceeded to call back and spoke with another gentleman and also he got irritated and didn't said as I quote him " you are dumb. This behavior is in call for. Your crew needs to be reminded that the customer should be treated with respect. I will not recommend this company.

Horrible, Rude, Incompentent

I made a terrible mistake by signing up for your service in Sept 2015 at a cost of $250.

On 5/2 and again on 5/3 a person from your office  called to advise me that there was suspicious activity on my computer and as part of your service he wanted to do a diagnostic test. Well into 1 1/2 your technician tried to sell me yet another product for over $200 to help (BTW, my computer was working fine until your technicians trashed my computer. . I told him I wanted the name of the company in order for me to research. He continued with his analysis while I went out to work.

When I returned home, I was locked out of my computer, now requesting a password) and 1 week later I still cannot access it.

Multiple attempts to contact the same technician over a period of 1 week were unsuccessful. I spoke with a horrible, nasty, rude, jerk who thought the whole thing was funny. When I asked to speak with his supervisor, he told me he was the supervisor. I asked to be transferred and all he did was place me on hold and when he picked up the phone again, and again, he kept giving me different names. He even told me to type 1 to 200 as the password to see if that helped. He then told me the technician was on leave and would return to the office today. When I called back he then told me the technician was in the hospital. He repeatedly misrepresented, and apparently struggled with the English language.

I received another call this morning  (initial technician)this time using an Indian name and said that unless I was willing to pay a fee he would not help.

Here's the deal, your technicians created the problem, set a password, and now refuse to provide unless I pay money.

I want this fixed, and I want it fixed today. I prefer not to speak with the unqualified, unprofessional from your outsource center.

Staples cannot assist. Provide me with a referral to fix, immediately.

thank you
