Learn Direct

I have been trying to study the Access to Higher Education course in Engineering with a view to getting into university in September. According to the Learn Direct website, students “have access to the entire course materials from the beginning and are able to work through Access to HE Diplomas at their own pace and complete them whenever you’re ready”. This is simply not the case. I enrolled in November, and soon found out that the course has to take a minimum of 6 months (contrary to the websites advice). This poses a problem since I need to have to certificate by April 2025 in order to enrol with Sussex University for the Beng in September.

Additionally, less than half of the study materials for my course have been accessible since my enrolment. According to Learn Direct, there have been a content update for my course and the development team have still not uploaded the material. As such, I’m having to rent books from the library and pay for online learning subscriptions so that I can work through the 17 assignments, and this is unacceptable.

I have raised a complaint with Learn Direct and the response ( complaints resolution) provides no apology whatsoever, as well as no update on when the course materials will be available, and, they are not prepared to take accountability for errors on their website - or the lack of advice given to me during my enrolment call.

It is simply unacceptable to enrol someone on a course when the learning materials are not available, especially when I made it clear on my enrolment call that I will needing to complete the course in a timely manner. I will be escalating the complaint with the Ombudsmen since Learn Direct are in breach of the Consumer Protection Regulations 2014.

After cancelling a course within the required 14 day cooling off period I am sorry to say that I am still waiting to receive my refund, three months later. I have chased learndirect for this refund endlessly and keep getting fobbed off. I have exhausted the complaints policy. I am considering legal action. Please do not spend money with this company. The learning materials are dreadful and if you are unhappy you will never get your money back, even if you cancel the course within the specified 14 day period.

I would never recommend this site to any learner. Extremely unprofessional and what a waste of time. When you are in terrible help they would redirect you here and there to waste your time. Either they do not know what professionalism is or run a very outdate service. Don't rely it.

I completed my course in July 23 and here I am nearly April still not had my certificate. All I got was a rubbish email confirmation.

Refund me the cost of this course immediately.

I also noted they HAVEN'T refunded the incorrect course so I am looking at section 75 or small claims court.

THEY DO NOT RESPOND TO EMAILS OR ANSWER THE PHONE.

I signed up for the course and was assured of quick turn around times for tutor support queries. This didn’t happen, taking over a week to get poor and brief answers that were vague and didn’t answer the actual question. I contacted learn direct as their service was not what I had paid for (over £2000) and requested a refund. They agreed do to my poor experience with them. It’s now 35 days after they agreed that I am chasing them continuously for my money back. They rarely respond to emails or messages and won’t provide me with telephone details to actually speak to a person in their finance or complaints department. I am now in talks with citizens advice and will be making formal complaints and be looking to involve small claims court.

Avoid this company at all costs. They should not be allowed to operate and are not fit for purpose.

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the lack of support and timely assignment marking provided by Learn Direct. As a prospective student, I was enticed by the promises of comprehensive support and efficient assessment processes outlined by your organization.

However, upon enrolling in the program and paying the required fees, I have found these promises to be nothing but empty assurances. The support system that was advertised as being readily available is nowhere to be found, leaving me feeling abandoned and unsupported in my educational journey.

Additionally, the timely marking of assignments, which is crucial for timely feedback and progress tracking, has been severely lacking. Despite submitting assignments within the specified deadlines, I have experienced significant delays in receiving feedback and grades, hindering my ability to gauge my performance and make necessary improvements.

This failure to uphold your promises not only reflects poorly on the credibility of Learn Direct but also undermines the trust and confidence I initially placed in your organization.

I expect a swift and satisfactory resolution to this matter.

Applied for more information for a course, got harassed with calls sometimes 15-20 times a day, clearly sales agents but when someone wants a bit of time

After taking my money they tell me I am not eligible for the course.

A bad company who take and withhold money that isn't theirs

This company is a very strange company which advertises itself as the alternative to uni to get your qualification but what follows next is so horrible, i am an elderly person who has had a passion for engineering so i thought let me get on the access course so that i can see my life dream come to life got into financial trouble where i could not continue they immediately referred me to a debt agency called uk sl, people who are already struggling financially now debt collectors its just a sham school is a choice not a punishment they are a sham they wont let you stop the course but put people in debt. What a shame
