They do not answer calls takes half an hour at least, claim number goes dead when transferred. I still haven't been able to get through to report a claim. Shouldn't be allowed to sell insurance!

Asda Car Insurance
I tried Asda car insurance for a year, but quickly changed away when I realized they rip off their customers when any changes are made to the policy. I needed to make a change to my license type from UK to EU and was charged £100.00 for that! Terrible on this and other things.

I took out their car insurance for my husbands new car. I wish I had read the reviews beforehand.
The website claims you have to provide NCD proof and driving licence details within 3 weeks.
10 days later my husband receives a letter stating that as they have not received such despite reminders they are cancelling the insurance and charging us for it.
2 days later we received a reminder letter with SAE to send the documents through !!!
Reading the reviews online I am not even sure if there is an insurance company involved. Seems like they just like to take your money, cancel your policy and then charge you money for it.
I have recently insured a car for myself online and strangely enough they checked my NCD online and no need to send in any documents. Goes to show they are either incompetent with technology or as above just like to rip people off.

Renewal Nearly Trebled In Price.
Do not go with asda/brightside insurance. You can never get them on the phone.
Customer service is virtually non-existent
When you take out insurance they want copies of driving licence/v5 document/no claims proof then when you send these they take a while to aknowlwdge reciept of them.
Then send you a letter threatening to cancel policy because they haven't received them!!!
I had to contact brightside via their FB messages several times over the matter.
Just got my renewal for this year aug 2016 and it jumped up from £440 to £1200. Which is ridiculous as I have 7 years no claims, am over 40 and the car is a Citreon Picasso 1.8.
Safe to say I will not be going with Asda/Bright Side insurance this year.
Would not recommend these even to any one I hate.

Dont Use Or Renew With Asda
Asda really should stick to groceries, never had such a bad experience when trying to change details close to policy end, refused to insure a cheap Rover 25 runaround (less risk???). Accused me of breaching contract through changing details. In the end I left the policy run for its remaining 1 month just to accrue the NCB. Avoid at all costs, and if you are coming up to renewal I urge you to look elsewhere.

Never Insure Your Car With Asda Insurance
You'd be saving yourself if you never insured with ASDA!
I insured my car for a whole year, when my PARKED car got brutally hit by a random driver, outside my house! They blamed me and they refused to pay me back for the remaining 7 months balance from my whole year subscription.
They claimed that I was supposed keep an eye out on my car 24/7.
They would not even contribute towards a replacement car despite me using it daily in order to go to work.
I gave them all my receipts used by me when having to take public transport, hoping that they would pay me back as compensation. When they finally did it was only half of how much my car was worth!
To think of it, What's the purpose of this insurance if they do not do their job properly. I was a loyal customer for over 2 years and they did not help me whatsoever
Never insure with this company.

Avoid Like The Plague
I spoke to a number of operators in an attempt to get the current years policy schedule which they had failed to forward on when the policy was taken out. I needed this as proof of no claims accrued. I must have spent 3 hours altogether on the phone repeating the same information because they must have failed to record the communications each time. None of the operators appeared to understand basic concepts. Either that or they were being deliberately obstructive. Each one I spoke to said that they couldn't send proof of NCD until the policy expired. In my experience it has always been sent with the renewal letter. Despite reiterating numerous times that the current policy schedule would be sufficient they were not forthcoming. The one positive aspect of my experience with ASDA was that I never had to make a claim. That I'm sure would have been a nightmare. Take heed of the reviews on this site. I would gladly pay slightly more in order to feel that my issues were being dealt with by people who were helpful and knew what they were talking about

Please Dont Take Out This Insurance -terrible Company !!!!
I took out some car insurance for my wife in June as I have always been the main driver due to being a British soldier and always travelling about.
When I took the policy out they asked for proof of no claims from me as a named driver and also a copy of our driving licences. At the time I was going through my HGV licence with the army and they had my licence. I explain this when I took the policy out and they said I could have a grace period of 2 months. That didn't happen they took the double payment for the 1st month then cancelled my wifes insurence. After a long argument on the phone they reinsurened her but had to pay the double payment once again.
It has been 6 months now and we bought a new car, phoned up to let them know and they have told me they cant insure her, so I will have to cancel the policy and start her no claims again.
Then the cheeky sods charged a cancellation fee of £45 then an extra fee of £27 for administration !
I never really leave reviews but we feel so screwed over by how they treated us, it's shocking.
So please, don't fall in the same trap we did!
Q&A
Do you have to pay a deposit every year when you renew your policy or is it just for the first time you take out a policy?
I Have used Asda car insurance for over 4 years, and yes you are required to pay in part a sum of money if you are going to pay via direct debit monthly.
