They Did Well By Me

Originally provided a good quote, which I took up with them.

Have most recently had to make a claim and everything has gone through pretty seamlessly.

Id be happy to recommend Property Quote Direct going forward and hope things continue to run pretty smoothly.

Feeling Very Let Down

I have used this company for the past 7 years and been given what seemed like reasonable cover from recognised insurance companies. However luckily I never had to put any of these to the test by making a claim. What I'm very disappointed about now is that after all this time, when I asked for cover to be changed because I'm in the process of selling, the answer was no. I tried discussing several options but they just keep saying no they cannot provide cover. What kind of service is that? None whatsoever and I can confirm the charges mentioned in a previous review.

Property Quote Direct,w E Bedford Insurance & Motorquote

Let me start with I used to with in the mortgage/finance industry for nearly 10 years, the first 4 of which were primarily doing insurance, so i have a more than basic idea at what I talking about.

My experience was with Property Quote Direct, but it does not make it any less relevant if you've had or are having problems with the other two here, as they are all the same company.

I was looking for a quote for several buy to let properties on one policy (portfolio insurance). Looked through the market, due to my requirements it has been very hard for me to find exactly what I am looking for (long story).

This crowd 'Property Quote Direct' were among the top Google responses time and time again, so I thought, may as well give it a go.

Came back with a cracking premium, half of what I am paying at the moment, then, have you ever heard the saying..."if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."?

This crowd wants to charge you £175 to set up the policy! £90 to cancel their policy! £175 to alter or make additions, as most landlords know, we are buying, selling putting in different tenants all the time!

Needless to say I will not be using them.

The problem is, while all this information is in black and white, it is hidden in their TOBA (Terms of Business Agreement), it may also be know as an IDD (Initial Disclosure Document), so you don't really have much of a leg to stand on.

I am self employed running a pub, a few buy to lets and sell the odd property when I can, and on a weekly basis I think God for my experience in financial services. If you're reading this article, you're probably in a similar position to me, lucky enough to have the problems of having more than one property, but that does not we can't get mugged, just the same as everyone else.

Now bear in mind these guys also trade under other these names, so just in the name of being helpful I had a look at Motorquote direct too. Their admin terms are exactly the same. See below copy and paste taken from their terms and conditions section:-

"The following charges will apply in addition to any due to the insurer:

Administration set-up charge for new

policies – you will be advised of the amount

before you commit to the insurance.

£175.00

Alterations and / or additions £175.00

Duplicate documents £21.50

Renewal Administration £90.00

Cancellation of Policy £90.00

Copy of voice recording £10.00

A discount may have been applied at the inception of your policy and will be reclaimed in full in the event of

cancellation. This will be over and above any other charges that may apply.

All optional extras are purchased on a non-refundable basis"

This is diabolical and this is not the industry norm at all. They also cunning hide the fact that they are not on the FSA register (Financial Services Authority) but in fact reference the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) I've literally never heard in them and I started out in the trade at the age of 16!

I know this has been long-winded, but even if it helps one person, self employed, employed, landlord insurance, motor insurance, buildings insurance, I don't care as this time has been well spent.

In the remote chance anyone does read this, please feel free to leave a comment and hopefully we can actually do something to stop people getting burned by this company.

Hi checking for a building's insurance on my rental 2 bed house, found this website and they quoted a reasonable £106 via LV. About to sign up when I saw this comment and confirm the additional appalling charges--£175 to set up the policy rip off Britain again.
