My 87 Year Old Father Has Been A Loyal Prudential

My 87 year old father has been a loyal Prudential customer for over 55 years and regularly paid his house insurance premiums promptly. After water damaged caused his house to be inhabitable, he immediately made a claim and Prudential agreed to pay the claim in March 2018. My father is still waiting for the claim to be paid out and it is now April 2019. This is causing my father and my family so much distress as they now won't answer emails. They have been reported to the Financial Ombudsman and I highly recommend this action to everyone who are unhappy with Prudential. I don't think Prudential are even worth one star.

Totally Unhappy

I had repairs for subsidence done in 2005 3 yrs later as predicted by my own SE the cracks returned Prudential had said in the UNLIKELY event the.cracks reappeared they would address it IF it was the same event but made all sorts of excuses

Eg The age of house (65)yrs approx) porch needed supporting we did this even though we didn't believe it 13yrs later we are into our old age with a house that needs a lot of money spent on it to make it morgagable inadequate superficial repairs done as quoted as stated by our own structural engineers devastated we can't move downsize no choices & if we need care our house will b sold at rock bottom price IF we had been told our foundations wer failing but we wer not covered. We could have addressed it ourselves no duty of care ! About 13000 spent by prudential insurance approx in 2005 currently 40,000 + to put my house right Windows warped taped up in the winter all in all a massive let down the house isn't moving enough to make a claim

Do Not Use The Pru

We have been with the Pru since the early 80's, our parents for many years before that. It was a well respected company. We recently shopped around and found we had been paying well over the going rate for years. As you are supposed to give at least 1 months notice we gave 2 months notice that we would not renew when due in the new year. Today we got 2 letters from the Pru, 1 to say the policy had been cancelled the day they received the letter 7 days before ! The 2nd to affirm it had been cancelled. Due to the posting it meant we had no house or contents insurance for 1 week and had to organise new cover immediately. Either they employ imbeciles or cancelled the policy out of spite. Please do not go with this company.

Very Poor Claims Handling

Continually changing the people that you deal with and supposedly not able to access evidential data that has been collected.

Go back to the start and do it all again - endlessly.

The Reviews are all highly critical of the poor claims handling given to Prudential Customers.

They are happy to take your money.

My mother died - I advised Peudential they were happy to take my money until the insurance policy expired keeping the property insured on a limited basis. Policy reached its term asked then to continue for one month - answer no

Complaint - why no say that when I took the policy over could of cancelled and not paid. Poor service - insurance essentially missold - complaints process rubbish no resolution - computer says no - RIP OFF

Prudential Insurance Rip Off And Dreadful Service

My aunt has had a building and contents cover with this company for over 20 years. She is 90 years old. In that time she has never made a single claim. Over the winter a storm resulted in water damage to a bedroom due to roof damage. Part of the ceiling came down and the carpet and wall coverings were damaged. My aunt tried to put in a claim by phone and was told that she was not insured and they would not cover the damage. She said she was simply "fobbed off". She ended up getting a plasterer to re-plaster the section of ceiling that collapsed, a roofer to replace damaged ridge tiles, a decorator to decorate the bedroom and a new carpet all costing close to 1000 pounds. Now here is the biggest complaint why you should not under any circumstances use the Prudential Insurance. When I checked the cover for both the building and contents I was shocked what they were charging my 90 year old aunt. For the contents a ridiculous 211 pounds and for the building an unbelievable 416 pounds. This made a total of 627 pounds for a 3 bed semi.in North Manchester. I went on line and got quotes for her home and quotes were ranging from 87 to 120 pounds for complete contents and building cover. This company are guilty of daylight robbery and dreadful service.

My 18 Year Long Subsidence Claim Nightmare With Prudential

DO NOT USE PRUDENTIAL INSURANCE, please go to a different company!

I am a 76 year old pensioner with a wife in ill health. We both live in the UK and are still fighting an '18 YEAR OLD OUTSTANDING SUBSIDENCE CLAIM' with the Prudential that is slowly killing us both. We cant enjoy our retirement or relax as our house is a complete mess and the dust is not helping my wifes COPD. I've even sent the Prudential her prescriptions and made them aware of what this claim is doing to us.

This company only cares about finance, it has no ethics or morals. How can any company treat two elderly pensioners this way. They should send a managing director to our house to see how we are living and to speed up our claim to a successful conclusion. I've been with the Prudential since 1963 and we are both tired and saddened by how we are being treated. To the Prudential you are never a valued customer, you are simply a mere headache they would like to see disappear and save them money. They do not respond to correspondence and they will not listen to the TRUE facts. I have paperwork showing inconsistencies, contradictions, they've manipulated facts and I've got internal documentation via the DPA that disgusts me. In the past 2 years I've even been sending letters personally to the CEO of the Royal Bank of Scotland, the top man associated with the Prudential, and he hasn't even had the decency to personally respond to my plight. After 18 years I just want them to fix my house but they don't care.

Do not bow down to this company. If you must use Prudential only ever communicate with customer service or any Prudential representative in writing. If you must phone record your conversation. If a representative (e.g. loss adjuster) visits your property make sure you have a witness with you and record the entire encounter.

Please go elsewhere; I wake up everyday to this 18 year old nightmare I don't want anyone else to have to go through it!!!!!!
