I Bought Travel Insurance For Myself And 4 Friends

I bought travel insurance for myself and 4 friends, 4 of us were 18 and the other was 17. I found A2Z on gocompare where they were the cheapest, I read all the terms and conditions and everything seemed fine. Within a week they sent out a 31 page book of small print and a certificate to say who is insured (The paper certificate was an extra £3.95). 2 weeks before we went on holiday one of my friends' parents made me ring up to check we were covered for everything you would expect. It was then I was told if anything was to happen to us, we would not be covered if we had traces of alcohol in our system. For example, if i was to have an alcoholic drink with my meal, then get hit by a speeding car riding the pavement... I wouldn't be covered. In fairness, this is stated on page 29 of the book (without the example). It also came to light that the 17 year old was not covered at all. The call centre worker said gocompare "assumed" he was travelling with his parent and he said that is the risk you take when buying insurance online, you shouldn't "assume" what you are typing in is correctly interpreted. I demanded my money back and argued for 35 minutes that the insurance was mis-sold. He couldn't tell me where it was stated in the book or where it was mentioned online. I am certain I was 100% in the right, but without taking them to court over £35, there was no way for me to get back my money. I would never use A2Z again and would be very careful when buying any type of insurance online.

Bought Insurance From Them, Flight Cancelled Due T

bought insurance from them, flight cancelled due to air traffic controllers strike in greece, asked for a letter from easyjet confirming cancellation, no chance but they did refund our flight money, wrote to insurance company explaining how i had sent loads of emails to easyjet and spent hours hanging on the phone at 10p per minute, they wrote back and said we booked the insurance knowing there would be an air traffic controllers strike. Funny that it was only announced the same day we was travelling. so far they have tried to use any excuse to get out of paying us our hotel costs. we didnt even claim for the travelling and car parking as we could have and as I ststed easyjet refunded us the flight costs. be warned this company give you no insurance, I would hate to think what would have happened if we had gone and had a need for some really expensive claim like hospital treatment. You have been warned.

Seems a pretty damning review and fully justified.

a2z travel insurance was reportedly set up as a division of the AA, though for what reason isn't clear seeing as AA Travel already offers an insurance service (that definitely isn't a best buy on any reckoning.)

With one uncompetitive insurance product in the marketplace it might've been thought the AA would do better with its new a2z offering.

Seems not.

a2z has completely vanished -- no sign of it, no advertising, and definitely, no website any more.

Doesn't seem like much of a loss to anyone though. . .
