Took Out Travel Insurance With First Direct As Par
Took out travel insurance with First Direct as part of their First Directory product. The insurance is administered by Aviva on behalf of First Direct. I had booked a flight to the caribbean in December and because of the snow my flight was cancelled. I found another flight a few days later but had to pay an additional £530 to transfer to another flight. As First Direct made a big statement how they covered all claims for people stuck in the 'Ash' cloud, I had no doubt they would cover the cancellations due to the high volume of snow that closed most airports. My claim was declined because Gatwick re-opened 21 hrs after my original flight cancellation. Despite that fact that my cancelled flight was not going to be re-instated. To me cancellation means flight will not take off - not sure what it means to FD. I will not be renewing my policy with First Direct

I Have Bought Annual Travel Insurance From First D
I have bought annual travel insurance from First Direct for the last 3 years and claimed 3 times. Each time they settled my full claim with no problems, whilst our friend who made the same claim as us with a different company was refused his until he complained.
In all that time the cost of insurance has not increased.
I highly recommend first direct for travel insurance for their low rates and excellent service, I will continue to use them and recommend them in the future.
