Not Covered For Lost/stolen Items Abroad

A very unfortunate incident happened whilst i was abroad and my bag was misplaced/stolen. This was reported to the bar/police. I reported this to hsbc as soon as i arrived home but they were not interested as i didnt have a police report and only the call logs to the police on the date of the incident. I have paid for the insurance for years now with my advance account and have used it to travel abroad many times without making a claim. When the unfortunate happened i was not covered and i am very annoyed about this as i always had piece of mind whilst traveling abroad, NOT ANYMORE.

Absolutly Brilliant Company

Booked europe annual travel insurance inc winter sports for me and my partner. It cost us just over £60 which is rather reasonable. We had a holiday booked for the end of August but unfortunatly my partners grandad passed away a few days beforehand and the funeral would have been whilst we were away. Cancelled the holiday with jet 2 and spoke to the HSBC regarding the situation. The customer service I received was excellant, very sympathetic and explained fully what I would need to do in order to make a claim. The letter came through within a couple of day, although i was quite worried as it was from First Direct. I sent all the relevant paperwork back within 3week (doctors took forever with the death cert). We received a letter back within a week saying we would be paid out in full minus the excess of £50each. On checking my account the next day they had paid us in full without the excess been deducted. (No sure if this is an error). The day after we received a letter sent recorded delivery with the original death certificate enclosed, I wasnt expecting this back nor had requested but it was a very kind thing to do.

On the whole I will 100% be using this company again.

Our travel insurance with HSBC Premier account has now run out as my husband has reached 70. Can this be extended?
