I was advised to use the Leeds BS by my independant mortgage advisor. I was initially accepted, the surveyor came out and everything was ok and since this they have asked multiple times for the same information over and over again!!! 7 weeks later they came back with a reduced mortgage rather than the full mortgage. absolutely fuming! there is no real reason behind it either. They are just incompetent. I am now going through another mortgage company who are alot quicker. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

Their custom services requests are forwarded to LMS - their subsidary to deal with mortgages. Never waited less than 30 minutes to in a queue to speak to somebody. At tne end the person was very polite, but absolutely unhelpful.

The only way to move things forward was to raise a complaint. Even with a complaint the provided service was very poor.

Their comunication with the solicitors appointed by them was close to being funny. Mistakes were made at the every stage of the process, costing quite a lot to the customer.

Was recommended to Leeds by our mortgage broker. We were told the mortgage offer had been accepted.

After 4 weeks of the Leeds asking for information after information. We learnt Monday we have been turned

down for the mortgage!! We are now in danger of losing the house we are purchasing and solicitors fees etc

All which we can ill afford!! Why did they wait this far down the line before rejecting the offer!!

Steer well clear of the Leeds!!!!

One star is an over-rating. This company is so poor with organisation and communication that I am surprised that they manage to function.

My mortgage application has been ongoing for nearly three months now and they continue to request more information. Even information that they have already received. I am requesting a mortgage that is well within my means and therefore shouldn't even raise any doubt / concern with them but it appears that their level of incompetence is such that they are unable to process a very straightforward request.

I very much regret approaching this company and whilst on the outset they appear to offer very competitive rates the reality of getting a mortgage with them is just not worth the hassle.

They failed from the outset to specify the information that they required and I found myself having to send more details each week. I provided 10 months worth of pay and bank statements yet they still wanted more. I was half expecting a request for blood at one point.

The bottom line: avoid this company.

If they are your only option to get a mortgage you might as well give up hope. Our experience has been so unfair and dreadful that we certainly would NOT RECOMMEND anyone to choose 'Leeds Building Society' for a mortgage.

Make sure that you ask EXACTLY which documents are required before you make your application, otherwise you can end up HOMELESS like us.

After forwarding all the necessary documents, Leeds BS issued an AIP and instructed a valuation. After six long weeks they then declined the mortgage. This was completely unexpected. My credit history is squeaky clean and my circumstances had not changed. My very confused mortgage broker chased them to find out what the problem was, and after a very long phone conversation it turns out they had changed their lending criteria...If the lending criteria was due to change then the mortgage should have never been pre approved so that I could have gone else where. To apply this change 6 weeks into the application process is an absolute disgrace and had Santander not come to my rescue with a very speedy mortgage offer then I would have lost the house and all of my solicitor and survey fees. Please, if you can, I strongly advise you go elsewhere!

I was recommended a mortgage from the Leeds by my broker. Big mistake! I wanted to borrow approximately 13% of the property's value and passed all the affordability tests. They requested tons of additional unnecessary and unrelated information and seemingly were still unsatisfied. Frankly, I hope they go out of business. the company is obviously run by pen pushing cretins who are incapable of making any real financial judgements. Its organisations like this one that get banks and other financial institutions such a bad name.

To keep things simple, after being approved, it took two months to issue the mortgage offer. Completion was delayed further as esurv (third party surveying company they use) struggled to deal with a simple coal mining report. When the form was returned to Leeds, we were delayed further as apparently no one could open the email as it was encrypted.

Following several days of phone calls, I was told what are now seemingly obvious lies to keep the customer happy.

Friendly staff, but appalling organisation. Too many people dealing with 'problems' that do not exist.

My experience with Leeds Building Society (head office branch) has been great, in acquiring an offset mortgage. In initial meetings they explained the mortgage process clearly. The rest of the process was just as smooth. The staff responded to queries very promptly with a helpful amount of detail. They stated exactly what was required from me, and were able to advise which properties they would insure while I was conducting viewings. When it come to releasing funds, this was done exceptionally quickly (over bank holiday weekend!). I'm honestly amazed at how easy the process was (particularly when hearing about difficulties my friends were having with other providers).

Would recommend to anyone!

I wanted to re mortgage 2 buy to let houses, they demanded masses of documentation on me and my business both of which are monetarily beyond reproach, I sent them the exact information they required but they then said it was not acceptable (so why ask for it)and this went on and on.Eventually the mortgages were approved and passed to Optima their solicitors and things got worse, they are are bunch of paper pushing idiot's. In short the process has now gone on for 6 months, YES 6 months and it's still not complete so I am going eleswhere.

My advice DO NOT go anywhere near these people unless you like STRESS
