Peter James Estate Agents

Just awful. Agent I dealt with played tenants and landlord off each other in order to make their job easier. Unfair referencing process that could potentially render people homeless, even with proof of income, savings and previous regular rent payments.

I've been a landlord with Peter James for years and they have always provided me with a professional service. Every time my property has come up for re let they have found me a new tenant within days and while managing my property they have always dealt with any issues promptly and efficiently. Great service, can't recommend them enough.

So this is the seventh property I've rented over the years and forth I've rented from an estate agent. These people are the most lazy, unprofessional and just down right depressing lot you'll ever come across, not just in the real estate sector but probably all business sectors!

Firstly they suck you in with there, rather surprisingly good selling etiquette (not shoving it in your face, rather relaxed, tell you the details etc). Then once you've signed your death sentence in the form of a tenancy agreement it all begins to happen - well, it all begins to NOT happen.

My property is managed by Peter James and they quite frankly don't manage anything. I moved into a property where the sliding doors into the garden were broken - phoned them said it would take about 3 days - in the mean time they asked me to screw the door shut for safety...5 months later, the doors were replaced. But this was due to asking for direct contact with the contractors and the landlord - sorted it out myself in a week.

This is just one of the MANY, things that have happened with them. If you want to stay sane, avoid these people. Just want your money and hide the truth from landlords. Liars.

AVOID. They will try and get as much money from you and deliver NO service at ALL. AVOID. They are rude and don't give a damn. It's all about money money money.

THE most unprofessional people I have ever had to deal with.

Try to take money from you left right and centre- any overpayments? Dont expect to see them again.

Not even sure half of our rent was being passed on to the landlord.

Do not call you back when there is a problem, do not email back when there is problem.

When THEY have a problem- they are first to contact you demanding all sorts!

Honestly- for your own sake and for your bank accounts sake- do not use these people.

My experience of renting a flat managed by peter James has plunged my already low opinion of estate agents to new levels. Firstly, we asked for some general repairs to be made this included fixing a hot tap in the bathroom to a sticky door that needed a shoulder barge to be opened after 3 months and many un-returned phone calls i fixed them myself. However, my experience in the last month of dealing with them after having moved out has left me almost in a state of despair. It is now a month since i moved out and my deposit still hasn't been returned to me after many phone calls, being left on hold for up to 1/2 an hour hasn't helped. Finally after phoning them myself (again) they have informed me that they apparently have issues with the check out. A cracked window, that is in the original inventory and has been cracked since i moved in over a year ago. I advise any person thinking of doing business with them to think again.

Renting a property through Peter James has been a debacle from start to finish. No one knew we were meant to collect our keys (even after booking an appointment). When signing our contract, they didn't even have any keys for the property we were renting! Instead we were given a random set that they thought might work.

No one knows what's going on and no one cares! We've even had to show prospective buyers around the property we're moving out of because they don't show up for appointments.

Please do not use Peter James they are a joke.

Peter James Estate Agents is poor, they have not acted as I thought throughout the process of the sale, I have found if you call you have about a 50/50 chance of getting the call returned.

I feel that they have failed to act in my best interest from the start, have even tried 3 times to speak to a director to raise my concerns and have finally been told that he will not speak to me!!

As there are plenty of estate agents in Blackheath / Greenwich there is absolutely no need to sell through these people, if you're lucky and have a straight forward sale they're probably as good as any, but when the going gets tough I have found you're on your own.

I wish I never had to deal with them. I have used many estate agents in London and Peter James is by far the worst I have ever had to deal with. They do not communicate with you and ignore requests and phone calls and worse. Always. Do not deal with them. You will regret it.

My experience of Peter James Blackheath branch was extremely poor. Naturally I almost expect this from any Estate Agents, but not to the extent of my undertakings with Peter James.
