Absolutely Awful

Absolutely awful company. We were tenants for 3 years and are still fighting for our deposit months after moving out. It's taken months for them to obtain 1 qoute. The staff are totally incompetent of doing their jobs and the management don't seem to care that they have underskilled, staff who mess about with peoples lives and finances and are in great need of customer service training.

Avoid at all costs.

We have made a GDPR request and they can't even manage that even though it is a legal requirement.

Looking at other reviews I'm surprised they are still in business. Shocking!!

We will be seeking legal advice against this company and will do everything we can to let others know about this company.

Avoid Them

As a landlord who was with them for a very short time, I made two complaints concerning 1) Repairs and maintenance and 2) Rent payments. After exhausting their internal complaints procedures I took them to the Property Ombudsman who held up my two complaints. Don’t use them.

If Your Looking For Illegal Hmo This Is Are The People

If your looking for illegal HMO this is the company you want, because I have told them about one next door to me and they don't give a dam and this is not the first time this as happened this is the second time so they don't learn as long as they get there money, one of the couple that should live there has only been here for 3 weeks in what will be 1 year this weekend. And she's due again early August sometime because some of the man and vans have moved on for what could be a week or two from past experiences. And yesterday blocked me for telling them this on social media because they don't like the truth, this is the Bridge Street branch Northampton town, and the so called manager of this branch put the phone down on me and told me I didn't know what I was talking about. There's wooden pallets everywhere even use one as a door step out the front and also a shopping trolley out there as well which has been there for a year and they fill that with rubbish, the back garden looks like a homeless area with drink cans everywhere, also one of them is like a animal spitting no stop and out of the nose and also caught him twice peeing in the front and back garden.

Disgrace

Boiler broke down 6 weeks ago. All I get is lies and excuses. Swetenhams use these for property management. Be warned. Do not use these or swetenhams

I Don't Understand Why And How They Exist

1) Painfully slow if any replies at all. Reported damp and leak on their website and takes them 2 weeks for someone to get in touch with you to arrange someone to fix. Another two weeks to hear confirmation of the date. Two weeks later no one turns up. Repeat all over again. This started back in September 2021 and has still not been rectified.

2) Our contract is due to end in two days and I had to remind them to ask for our new tenancy agreement. Guess what, no reply.

This company is really really really really bad.

Incompetent Beyond Belief

I am currently looking to purchase a new property. I have sold my house so am ready to go, no chain and am now living with friends till I find what. This process has been hindered beyond comprehension by Holdryds Keighley branch.

I have never met such incompetence.

From viewing properties and being told whilst in them no offers have been made to calling to make an offer minutes later to be told it has sold. And in one instance my offer was completely refused as they had just had another and they refused to even speak to the vendor regarding mine! To not turning up at booked viewings, not returning calls to confirm a viewing or to book one, telling me they have lease details and then point blank refuse to let me see them.

And the latest one. I called to make an appointment to view a property and explained the ONLY days I was available was Fri or Sat, was told 4.30pm on the Friday would be provisionally booked and would confirm later. No return call came so I called the office on Monday and was told “oh yes we have booked 5pm Tues”????? Explained yet again I was ONLY available on Fri or Sat and was told someone would call me back with new time and now Thursday afternoon I am still waiting.

I have yet to meet a professional, competent, reliable, honest estate agent but Holdroyds are by far the worst I have ever dealt with.

0 Star

I would give 0 star if I could. Absolutely disgusting company. Last year we had to wait at least 3 months for a new oven as they said it's not essential. This year our boiler broken down and we are without hot water and heating over 3 weeks now. They barely answer for our emails or if they do they say we should appriciate the engineer came few times already like appreciation makes any hot water and heating for us. We clearly need a new boiler as they are just not able to fix this one and it's clearly illegal to leave tenants in this condition for more than 3 weeks.

Very Bad

As a single property landlord using Sequence through Allen and Harris estate agents, the whole experience was awful.

The contractors Sequence uses, charged £100 for looking, they didn't touch or go near the problem. They would not provide a fix, would not replace the leaky pipe as a repair had been asked for, so cut a little bit of pipe and replace where the leak was, knowing this would and did require further call outs. They damaged the property, broke a window with a ladder and just walked away. charged me for items never delivered. No help or support from Sequence. Sequence will provide only one quote for the work to be completed.

I was known by the company as having deep pockets, they loved me. Speaking to other estate agents they laughed at me when I told them how much sequence changed me.

I spent many £1000's each year and the property was in a horrible state. Worst of all was the way they treated my tenants.

Disgrace Of A Company

I had a wasp problem in my two sons bedroom, 6 and 1 year hear old. Wasps started appearing in their room particularly on the bed! On top and under the duvet, he was stung in the face and I rang a pest control company immediately and thought it was sorted. However a week later the wasps returned so this time I actually contacted my landlord who told me to go through estate agents and sequence. They messed me about for hours not giving me a time for someone to come out and not bothered about the threat to my kids! Eventually their guy rang me after 5pm when I reported it at 12:40. The guy could not come out for 3 days! When I said I would rather pay AGAIN myself and have someone come straight away rather then risk my kids getting hurt and not being safe in their bedroom I was threatened with the fact that any damage that’s caused I will be liable for and that they won’t accept the work basically. Imagine being happy with leaving a 1 year old baby in a wasp infested bedroom! Obviously I am taking the risk and paying myself for it to be done immediately so he isn’t in harm but seriously what kind of a company is this! Absolutely disgusting. I would love to see any of them sleep with wasps in their bed!

The Worst Of A Bad Bunch

I think it is fair to say that most letting agents are pretty bad, however, Sequence is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. I won't go into the full list so let's just hit a few of the greatest hits from the 2 years I rented from them.

1. Attempted to retroactively increase my rent - Upon signing a new contract with an increase of £20 per month (which I had no issue with) I noticed that they had had the initial conversation with my landlord 3 months previously. In that time they had never discussed it with me. They had then proceeded to backdate the new contract by 3 months and attempted to get me to leave the date section blank claiming 'that is just what we do' on confrontation it became obvious that they were going to try and backdate my signing too and then claim the 'missing' £60...they never got that money.

2. Terrible response time - After our oven broke it took 3 weeks to get it repaired, it then broke another 2 times each taking at least 2 weeks to get repaired until it was finally replaced.

3. Zero communication - Eventually, we got to know our landlord directly and it became very obvious that they had attempted to play us against each other on several occasions.

4. Zero notice inspections - Speaks for itself, on several occasions they just arrived at the door. One of these times was to get the house evaluated for a remortgaging.

5. Inventory Reporting - When moving into the property we performed a number of updates on the inventory of things that had been missed off (patchy paintwork in rooms etc) Upon moving out when the leaving inspection was done we were blamed for these things, even though we had mentioned them. Clearly the original inventory was used for the moving out inspection and not the updated version. Upon questioning this I was told "They would forward the new version to my landlord if they felt it was needed"...this obviously never happened and though I would agree some of my deposit should have been withheld (I didnot professionally clean carpets) a much greater share was lost because of their actions.

6. It took almost 3 months for the return of our deposit.

Basically, this company are terrible and if you can avoid dealing with them I would advise that you do.
