I Love My Jeep Xj Cherokee Limited, It's Got Loads
I love my Jeep XJ Cherokee Limited, it's got loads of power, but feels great just cruising. I sit really comfortably in the leather bucket seats, everything is electrically operated and still works, overtaking is just a blip on the throttle and the auto gearbox works smoothly.
I've read other reviews that comment negatively on the dashboard, I love the wood effect dash and the clunky, tough, switchgear. I know some of the switches are in strange places, but you get to know where they are so it's not a problem.
The previous reviewer, Daz, said he'd buy another if they halved the price of petrol - well they virtually have, I've got a gas conversion and LPG is about half the price of petrol. I can sneak in about 20 mpg if I'm really careful on a long run, but I normally get about 13 mpg, but at half normal petrol prices that's equivalent to 26 mpg around town. Can't complain about that with a 4 litre 6 cylinder motor.
If I have to say something negative about the car it's the back doors and seat. They're small, leg room is OK, but it's tight to get in and out and not that comfortable on a long run. Kids don't seem to mind though, it's just the grown ups who complain. As I'm always driving it's no big issue to me.
The great thing about this car is that when I get where I'm going, I normally want to drive a bit more :-)

The Jeep Cherokee 4.0 Isn't A Car To Own If Your W
The Jeep Cherokee 4.0 isn't a car to own if your worried about fuel consumption!
Even in 2WD it's thirst is quite spectacular.
That being said,it is an excellent off road vehicle and can take a tremendous amount of punishment. The interior is very well equiped, with electric seats, mirrors, windows etc.
The engine is probably it's strongest (and weakest) point.
In 2WD you can light up the tyres with no problem at all, even with the auto box it accelerates like a hot hatch, but in doing so you can watch the fuel needle zoom backwards just as quick!
Would I buy another?
If they halved the price of petrol then yes,it's a brilliant and underestimated off roader, but my choice in hindsight would be the diesel version, though they do cost three times as much to buy.
