What A Terrible Car. Simply The Worst Car Imaginab
what a terrible car. simply the worst car imaginable. here's why (1) over heating all the time, especially when towing horse box - the only reason we had the damned thing in the 1st place (2) the hose bursting even when not towing - steam billowing out of the engine, this would happen at the first sight of traffic jam or even in mcdonalds drive thru - the frontera could not take the pressure(!) - (3) the alarm had a mind of its own and would set off like a monosyllabic albatross and I could never work out how to shut the damn thing up (4)the drive was lazy, slouchy. It felt like a big old barge chugging its way through the streets. (5) terrible engine power. Its not good being reduced to 30 miles an hour when towing the horse box on the M6 (6) whats with the sofa arrangement in the back? Looks like a caravan set up (7) terrible visibility, loads of blind spots v dangerous! (8) mine was a weird green/yellow colour, vauxhall imaginatively named it brocade yellow uurgh. sorry frontera, you suck!

I Have Just Been Given This Frontera Sport From My
I have just been given this Frontera Sport from my mother who has given up driving for health reasons. I have always maintained it and it really hs been a cherised vehicle. 33,000 miles in total and absolutely mint. Overall it has been extremely reliable and items that have been unexpectedly replaced were really due to it remaining unused for long periods of time. Starter motor, alternator, rear diff seal, discs and a couple of batteries and just recently a couple of split fuel hoses. Really easy to maintain and run and compared to my other 4x4 a Toyota Surf which is constantly troublesome, the Frontera is a delight. The only quibble is visability due to large B posts but once you get used to this, it is not so bad. Anyone who knocks the Frontera I wold suggest has been unusually unlucky or most likely has never owned one! Remember, it really is an Isuzu so Japanese technology.

We Have Owned A 54 Reg Fontera Sport 3.2l V6 (swb)
We have owned a 54 reg Fontera Sport 3.2l V6 (SWB) since new. The shocks supplied by the factory were faulty when new. The factory's inspector visited the dealer and pronounced them as ok, without knowing that we had already put them on a rig. One front shock had 25% of the damping of the other. The fault was potentially lethal. Lesson 1: If you get a Frontera don't let a Vauxhall employee anywhere near it.
This episode prompted me to buy some new Koni 4x4 adjustable shocks and, when paired with Bridgestone Duelers (H rate, not S rate) they transformed the vehicle into a sports car! The V6 Isuzu engine has a sub 8 second 0-60 and is capable of over 120mph. The change in shocks and tyres means that you can really use the performance. As a benchmark, I have 22 years competitive experience in professional motorsport and have been a factory tyre tester. Believe me, this vehicle is sooo good they should put it back in production but with different shocks and tyres. Just remember Lesson 2: If you get a Frontera don't let a Vauxhall employee anywhere near it.
Off-road, my experience includes off-road courses in a number of different Land Rovers. I have yet to find anthing that the Frontera can't handle, the only restriction being my own ability to stay planted in the seat!
For towing, I have pulled both lightweight and heavyweight trailers and am pleased to report that, because of the gentler driving style, I get better fuel consumption towing that I do with the vehicle unladen. (I did say it was like a sports car!)
Servicing is easier than an easy thing from Easyville, on a particularly easy day in EasyLand but remember Lesson 3: If you get a Frontera don't let a Vauxhall employee anywhere near it.
I had one warranty repair with self-activating headlight washers that took a dealer five attempts to get right, each time it being apparent that they hadn't tested for the fault after the 'repair'. Once your warranty is up, remember Lesson 4: If you get a Frontera don't let a Vauxhall employee anywhere near it.
I wouldn't sell mine for any price but do remember Lesson 5: If you get a Frontera don't let a Vauxhall employee anywhere near it.

I Bought The Vauxhall Frontera Sport 2.0i As An In
I bought the Vauxhall Frontera Sport 2.0i as an introduction to 4x4 owndership. And I'm glad I did. For a highly competative, cheap price, I got a real 4x4 and not a Suzuki/Diahatsui toy. I found the car comfortable to drive, very good on interior space and not a financial burden to own. The well proven Vauxhall 20i engine has been highly reliable, provided sufficient power, and with the recent snow, it's been a Godsend. The boot space isn't fantastic as its very small. Its like this has been sacrificed to give excellent rear legroom, but hey, we can live with this.
It has a neat, SWB, well-built body and certainly isn't a lightweight in the Countryside. It's not great on acceleration, but then it isn't meant to be. It returns about 28-32 MPG and gives great handling on regular journeys.
I would recommend this car as an excellent alternative to a 1.8 Land Rover Freelander - which seems to suffer a terrible fate where gaskets are concerned. So if you want good, honest reliable 4x4 ownership, but without paying through the nose for it, then the Vauxhall Frontera Sport is for you.

Had Discoverey And Freelander Before For Towing H
Had discoverey and freelander before for towing horses. Discovery kept breaking down and the freelander broke and had to be scrapped after towing a lightweight horse trailer. Didnt have a lot of money saw fronterra love it goes anywhere and tows anything - not that bad on petrol but I do have another small car as well. Did have problem with alarm going off and having a mind of it's own but that is sorted. Good cheap strong cars much better than a landrover

Vauxhall Frontera 2.0 Sport is very reliable. Great drive bit slow but thats not a problem. 20/25 to a gallon more on a run. Very happy with it. Pulls anything beat my mates range rover in a tug of war. Handling not great but ok when i got use to it. Would recommend it to anyone. Love it.
