Favourite Car
We have had the FIAT Panda Eleganza car since 2004. It was the first model into the showroom so we were unable to purchase it for 3 months by which time it had done about 1000 miles as a demonstrator. Almost immediately it required a new engine as the cylinder head had been cross threaded. It had clearly had no pre-delivery check as the ground where it had been standing was spotted with oil. Front of house service from the dealer was abysmal although the new engine was fitted satisfactorily. Two other franchised dealers were found wanting in various ways and the car has since for years been serviced by a small garage. It has now done over 70,000 miles. Brakes etc have been replaced as would be expected and we have had the usual problems with the radio.Despite 3 children having learned to drive on it it still has the same clutch. The alloy wheels are still in very good condition - which is more than can be said for my friends 2007 Mercedes C Class, the seating is the most comfortable of the majority of cars we have owned. The air conditioning is the best of any cars we have owned - including recent Volvo and Honda models. We like it because it is nippy, well screwed together, well-equipped and economical. The ride is a little bouncy for some people but the overall finish, whilst a bit plasticky inside, is sound. Get one (or even two)but steer clear of the franchised dealers once you have it.

Fiat Panda Eleganza 1.2
Bought for the wife as a main car as family are much older now and uses are more local run around (taxi) than a frequent use family car.
Well built. Comfortable to accomodate 4 adults easily (5 doors)for such a small car. Excellent visibility slightly raised driving position. Eleganza is very well appointed with climate control, split rear seats, roof bars, alloys, front fogs, height adjustable drivers seat etc.
Been averaging 50 mpg, so far reliable(which is no more than I expect of a car with just some 20000 mile on the clock), only draw back is power (As I have been used to cars with double the BHP)
Too early to say I would buy again at this point of time, but even at this time I am beginning to wonder why I did not buy a car like this years ago and saved a fortune in running cost.
Now slightly forgotten due to the current fiat 500, which is prettier and well finished but not so sensible little car and by no means any better with a bigger price tag!
