Well Done Ford!
Firstly I must say it was a pleasure to read all the reviews; both good and others somewhat critical.
Some might say.. I am now an old guy and what do I know?
I have owned 42 cars and driven many. That doesn't make me any sort of expert, but I know what I like.
I sold my 2006 Fiesta Zetec to purchase (for a few quid more)a 2008 ST; completely standard with 75000 miles registered.
Wow! I am impressed! There is nothing (for me), about the car, that detracts from its excellent handling, road performance and overall look and design; both exterior and interior.
I feel Ford produced a car that is both inspiring and economically practical.
Well done Ford!

Brilliant Little Hatch
I bought the car several months ago after finally being able to insure a faster car (being 19) first things to say , the insurence quotes for what you get is dead cheep, insurence group 13 i think? so already on a plus point.
It wasn't expenisve to buy costing me a mear 4k but for that i got full heated leather, all the optional extras and a low millage example with full history.
It drives brilliantly, doesnt understeer, just lovely lift off oversteer, its ride is a little on the rough side on bad roads due to the low profile tires and sport suspension but easly bearable.
Since ive had it, i have changed the exhaust for a genuine powerflow, this has replaced the flexipipe which restricts the power a little. it was no slouch in the first place, but it now flies, power in every gear and 30mpg is still easly achieveable due to a nice smooth ammount of torque.
All in all looks the part goes like hell, increadibly practical, and responds well to tuning 5* would reccomend to anyone

Dont Get One Please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok the first thing i want to say is how bad this car IS, yea its roomy like a FIESTA, and PRACTICAL, but its doesent feel like 150BHP,ANY clio CUP,325I,GOLF GTI, even a saxo vtr will go past YOU,SO dont get it for SPEED, dont even get it for the traffic light as no limited slip DIFF, dont get it to look good as its a fiesta with a BADGE, and dont get it to replace a juicy fast CAR, you will be DISAPOINTED, i have owned an rs turbo and other good classics and in my opinion they are real CARS, the st is a wannabe a disapointment a let down if you want a fast car get one but not an st unless you a spotty sad university student who thinks hes cool and really is not P.S its bad on petrol ALSO,AND if you are stupid enough get ONE,BUT with sunroof if ford make one lol poor mans wanna b sports CAR.
Can i just say, i take on board everyones point of view, however i'm about to buy my 3rd Fiesta ST, I agree they are a little underpowered but i think thats a small price to pay for what i think are great looks, fantastic brakes and a really well balanced chassis, Ive had an Evo and currently own a Focus ST225, but they are different cars and there is no point comparing a fiesta to them, as for the small hatch market, its well priced, well equiped and safe, as i was involved in a heavy smash in my last and was unscathed, brilliant car and i support fords efforts all the way and so im buying a another for my wife
You idiot how can you say that? Yes I have owned one and never again!!!!!!!!! You say your saving for a focus st or civic? If the fiesta is that good why do you want to move on?whats the matter to slow for you hahahaha need a real car spotty boy maybe you have hit puberty and don't need the clearasil anymore. Or you don't want people to be put off by my commets as you can't sell it I mean who wants a knackerd clapped out ford thrashed to an inch of its short life before its drops into a heap of rust you can sweep away with a broom. Gayboy.
Ive owned my ST for 2 years and still cant wait to put my foot down every time i jump inside, i dont think you have owned one. Just critisizing the car for no particular reason. Even though im savin up for a Focus ST or Civic Type R. My fezST will be saddly missed. P.s. would highly recommend the pumaspeed160 upgrade :)
What a moronic 'review' full of inaccurate information. Perhaps your should spend more time conducting accurate research on the subject you are talking about and less time making silly comments about 'spotty sad university students'.
Vince32 does not own one and never has. He has no job and is on the dole. He is angry because he dreams of having one but the drugs and alcohol he uses, use up all his benefits.
He now trolls the internet from the library high on drugs and stinking of cider. Looking to crush peoples dreams like he has crushed his own.
I personaly know this as the car he says he hates i own. He states his comments as i drive legal.
Maybe a track day is in for vince32 if he finaly takes the needles out of his arms and stops sitting in the town centre with his cider.
well maybe not he does not even have licence or has ever driven before so maybe not.

Fun Little City Car
Good little runabout, wish it was a little better on petrol. Handles great, interior not the nicest. Good reliability, better than my old Golf by far. Next go round I will probably consider another Ford.

Ford Fiesta St - Performance Blue - 08reg.
Ford Fiesta ST - performance blue - 08reg.
I bought this car brand new as a pre reg for £10,200, (had 6 miles on the clock) which I thought was good. I have to say for the first 15,000 miles the car is definitely still improving performance wise. This engine takes a lot of miles to run in. IE it feels tight chested to start with.
at about 21,000 miles I have put a mountune CAIS on the car and I have to say this £200 was well spent. It's taken a second off the 0-60 time (did 6.95 at ford fair) I also get better mpg now since fitting the CAIS. 1st gear will do 35mph 2nd gear will do 60mph and 3rd gear will see over 80mph.
This car has returned me 30mpg over with many city trips to Birmingham. When I do a longer trip a always get 37+ mpg if speed limits are stuck to. I've seen 42mpg before on a trip to devon.
Handling is sharp. It handles most bumps well considering the size of the wheels / low profile tyres. The brakes are strong for road use with disks all round. It will stop faster tan most cars in the dry that's for sure
My main complaint is that it could do with a 6th gear at 70mph. It doesn't bother me that much as having the revs at 3500 means you put your foot down and the car overtakes with ease, but it undoubtedly wastes fuel. Economy takes nose dive at speeds over 70 - 75mph. Also a slip diff would be a bonus though for the price I don't suppose this was ever going to happen.
I have now done 28,000 miles in the car and today I went looking to replace it. I test drove a focus ST. To be honest it's a bit quicker but didn't feel anywhere near as fun as the ST. Not as involving. I will now look to the RS focus instead.
These are a great car to buy 2nd hand... if I hadn't already got one of these I would go out now and pick up an 08 plate for about £6500 knowing that it won't lose much money. To lose just £3500 from new to 3yrs old can't be seen as bad, and that's the worst of the depreciation over with. I'm very tempted to keep mine another year or two.
I've not had any problems with the car at all. Tyres last me around 10k miles for fronts and 25k for backs, but I buy yokohoma paradas for under £60 each, so again not too bad
As a final point. In the 08 plate models you get an upgraded Sony head. This stereo is superior to the models preceding it. It's the same head unit used in the Focus RS and CC cabriolet's. It's worth looking for an 08 plate and getting one of these.

Had My St For 6 Months Now And Do Not In Any Way R
Had My ST for 6 months now and do not in any way regret getting it.
MPG is sound for my style of drive at 28.9mpg. 0-60 is way quicker that Ford spec sheets will state, as is the top speed, they claim top speed of 129mph, sorry ford but you undersold the car on this one, it's much faster.
Handling is great and sticks to the roads withouth a second thought about it. Acceleration is awesome, left my step dads Boxter S at the lights.
I have the side stripes and just getting the OTT stripes next week, i like people knowing what i'm driving, at least i know they'll be think (oh snap, i just got done by a fiesta) lol would not change this car at all, just needs a 6th gear as like many others have said, revs far too high above 70.

Iv got a 56 plate perforance blue fiesta St it fill soild as so did my fiesta zetec but the handling is better it is quick if u get the pull off right the only thing that I don't like is motorway driving it revs to much but u can sit at 70 nicely or rev it up and hit 130. But it is a car that will last u and I'd worth every penny I love it

Good Solid Little Car With Good Stats. Let Me Just
Good solid little car with good stats. Let me just start by shooting down the people who claim that this car is a ferrari in disguise by saying that the other cars that are similar in stats and cheaper which is the mg zr 160 and clio sport, are indeed faster top end and quicker. That being said neither as solid built and are as reliable. Id say that this car is for the boy racer that has a sensible head on there shoulders and dosent like to burn money in the persuit of fun

To Cut Straight To The Point I Do Really Love This
To cut straight to the point I do really love this car and have owned one for 2 years driving to and from work
HOWEVER
To get the best driving experience from this car ( good ride, good mpg , economy on tyres etc ) then you have to drive it like a normal fiesta so your better off just buying a normal fiesta 1.4
This car hates going above 70mph because the revs just go to high and the travel noise is too much especially when you have people in the car with you. Performance is good but you have to rag it to really keep up with anything in the same class and the noise from the engine doesnt sound sweet above 3500 revs. More like the engine is straining and asking you to ease off.

This Was A Car I Had Wanted To Own Since I First S
This was a car i had wanted to own since i first saw it back in 2004 at the motorshow at the NEC. I loved it. I have a plain Peformance Blue ST and i can honestly say that it is the best car i have ever owned.
The ST has a 0 - 60 time of 7.9 and i can honestly say its quicker. It feels so alive even though the engine does need working hard. The chassis is very responsive and does not feel uneasy at anytime.
The only critism i have is witht eh heater matrix. Its had 2 and both times coolant has poored into the cabin soaking the entire passenger side of the car. Apart from this, its been relatively maintainence free. Ford recommend a service every 12,500 miles but i change my oils every 4k. Thsi is only as I like my car to be fresh.
In simple words this car is brilliant. I am wouldnt hesitate to buy another.
