Rover Metro 1.4 16v GTI

I owned one of these go gart cars for a short while, as I was looking for a MK2 GTI. I did a bit of motorway driving in it. The car's is quick but I was afraid to push it over 90mph as it is very light and felt like the wind was going to blow it away. Around town it handled very well. Nova gte/gsi has no chance against this tiny rocket. The mpi version is the best pick (multipoint injection) it has 13bhp more than the spi (single point injection) I am not 100% but think the mpi's came out on a K-reg?? I owned the spi version which was still very quick,but the mpi is slighty quicker on 0-60 and top end mph. I'm not sure what the top speed was on my GTI 16v was I could guess around 118mph. Do not try to compare this car to a 1.4 corsa sri 16v as it will out perform that with ease. I sold my GTI 16v a while ago and have a lot of respect for these cars. If you are going to buy one I advice you check the gearbox carefully as they always go. I was told that rover knew the gearboxes where not strong enough when they were testing them in the GTI back in the 90s.
