Dodgy Gears
I bought a citigo elegance 75ps on 26/10/13. I loved it,cream dash and seats, great fuel economy even though it was smaller cab wise than ny vw fox,I was generally pleased. However this soon wore off, irritating things soon became noticed. There is only one switch on drivers door to operate elec windows,so if your passenger leaves windows down you have to stop the car to reach over to close it.When it rains and you open the door water sits in the door groove and you get soaked. The seats are rock hard and not comfy on a long journey.Irritating but not disastrous. Then after 470 miles I noticed a strange noise when driving at 50mph in 5th,took it to dealer who said 'it's fine, just needs running in,bring it back at 1500 miles'.1500 miles came and the noise was still there and 1st gear was sometimes not engaging so I took it back. It's fine, they said, perfectly normal. At 3500 miles the passenger seat was soaked, the door seal had failed. So I took it in and said while your on check the gearbox,I think it's dodgy. They replaced the door seal and said 'the gearbox and clutch are fine, totally normal. Two weeks later the car completely refused to engage gear. After numerous attempts it did so I took it back again. The car has been in dealership now for a month, the geatbox has been in and out three times, they have replaced a synchro gear and test drove it loads.Ooops it wax worse Than ever, sounded like a' Police Siren' Their words, not mine.A reverse shaft has now been ordered, however It is on BACKORDER!! Still paying finance on a car I have not had for four weeks. On a brighter note,I have had the basic model citigo as a courtesy car,no features whatsoever and is like a mid nineties clio but drives like a dream.Go for the cheapie.
