Forewarning, Oil Pump On 2.0tdi As Well As Positives

Bought this car 18 months ago as an alternative to a family people carrier. It looks the absolute business, 19" wheels, part leather interior, fantastic cockpit controls and extremely roomy. You can fit a pram in the boot length ways and being 6ft4 doesn't leave much leg room in the back when Im driving in regular size cars. In the A6 the occupancy space is fantastic, which was the deciding factor and got me out of MPV hell. Expect everyday commuting on slow roads at 33mpg. On long journeys to Germany, all motorways I got it up to 44mpg with cruise on at 80mph, so could be better but it is a big lump for the engine to pull. Now then here's the negative, I was bitten by the Oil Pump drive assembly going fortunately I just turned the engine on so I had to pay for a modified pump assembly (£500), turbo recon (£500) and another £500 labour. THIS WILL GO AT SOME POINT SO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT! Since then I have had 2 tyres, 19" budgets will cost £160 each minimum and also had a punctured Inter cooler which is behind the passenger foglight. Audi's inter coolers are sub standard, bought a new on from eBay for £100 + fitting.

Fairly cheap. Fine comfort on long trips. High MPG. Quality at relatively low price.

As fuel prices rises, this is the best alternative. A big car with superb comfort and handling.
