Quiet, Refined, Comfortable, Economical And Not A Bmw!
Always been a jaguar fan and had several over the years. I recently retired and decided to treat myself. Looked at Bentleys and similar but found the fuel consumption difficult to live with. Not so with the Jag, it is so refined and quiet, cruises at legal limit effortlessly and returns over 40mpg at the same time, what more can any one ask for.
Beautiful piped leather interior, which still smells great, unlike many so called European executives with so called leather interior.
Every creature comfort you could need.
The performance for such a large car is wonderful, on a roads you look forward to having to overtake some thing, just flick into sport mode, pull out before accelerating and enjoy.
Every day I look forward to just getting in the car and driving it.

This car after 26k miles came up with the dreaded restricted performance light. After getting diagnosed found that LH turbo was at fault, this was taken off and the vane lever was sticking slightly, after new one fitted, problem still there this time RH turbo with same problem after new Turbo DPF fault came up this had to be changed because it could not be re-charged. Total spent £6700 be warned keep away from these cars or make sure you take out a warranty to cover this failure.
can you remember what fault code was shown to say it was lh turbo?

Took My Car In For An Mot And The Sovereign Was On
Took my car in for an MoT and the Sovereign was on the forecourt. Beautiful inside and out, Polaris wheels, smart grille and waiting for its customer to come and test-drive. Grabbed the salesman, took it home to make sure it would fit the drive, and did the deal on the way back. Diesel engined Aluminium body, bought for the long term. 43,000 c/w FSH, BUT, previous Doncaster main dealer had NOT even changed the air filter. Found out on my first run when only 29mpg was returned. Air filter was black. My dealer apologised profusely, and immediately did a free service to check everything else. The car does everything it says it does. My tip, get a dealer you can trust who will actually look after your investment and the Jag will handsomely reward you. She's my second 2.7 tdi, first was an 04 'S', so I was aware of the mechanicals etc. The XJ is more economical than my lady's Jimny, and cheaper to service. And, its so sweet when a Beemer or Merc or Audi flashes you on a dual carriagway. If its clear they just get smaller in the mirror. So much torque! Only snag, grandson is too young to sort all the cars electronic choices for me, anybody got a spare 14yr old who is bored with the video...

Jaguar Xj6 Tdvi: A Quiet And Comfortable Diesel-po
Jaguar XJ6 TDVi: A quiet and comfortable diesel-powered luxury car made in Britain!
Economical 29 - 42 mpg, cruises silently at 70+ mph with plenty of power in reserve.
In comparison with an earlier XJ8 Sport 3.2-litre the TDVi has much better pick-up from low revs and rarely needs to be taken over 3000rpm whereas the XJ8 needed to be revved hard for similar performance.
This car was a steal in October 2008 at under £20,000 used, with only 12,000 recorded miles, from a main dealer. However main dealer servicing costs and minor repair costs are very high, even higher that for BMW. Do yourself a favour if you buy one: find an independent garage to look after it for you and save!
Otherwise you will not be disappointed, it does everything Jaguar says it does.

I Leased The Jaguar Xj Tdvi Executive 2.7 At The E
I leased the Jaguar XJ TDVi Executive 2.7 at the end of April 2006 under a 3 year PCP (having driven BMW 3 series, Mercedes C Class and E Class previously - all of which were 100% reliable and fault free). The overall package price of the XJ was very attractive but the poor reliability to date has really taken the shine off the Jaguar ownership experience. I've also been very disappointed at the support provided - PDI was incomplete and the service booklet not completed, parts have frequently been on 10 - 14 day back order, service dept is very hard to reach by telephone (always being told they will call back is really frustrating for a business person with long meetings and short breaks in which to make arrangements), fault resolution has been protracted and incomplete on collection. On one occasion I was offered a loan car - a very tired XJ that stank of cigar smoke (I'm a non smoker) - appalling! I also had the car returned on one occasion with grimy staining to the passenger seat, oily fingermarks on the seat switches and blue ball pen stains on the seat back, hardly what one expects from such a prestige brand addressing the executive market.
It has also surprised me that over the 6 months of ownership I have never received any request for feedback on my satisfaction to date - this contrasts starkly with Honda (I bought a CRV in May 06) who have asked for feedback by phone or postal questionnaire no less than six times in the same period. Jaguar investigated this when I contacted them and told me I'd opted out of receiving paper mailings in 2003 (which was nonsense - they send me other mailings) but that they would opt me back in - still nothing - so I presume they aren't interested in feedback from their customers. No wonder Jaguar is currently Ford's worst performing division.
In summary, the XJ TDVi Sovereign has the potential to be a really great car but in my experience, it's badly let down by reliability problems, delay in sourcing parts and customer service in general. The nature of cars is that things can and will go wrong on occasions - I accept that - so it's even more important that Jaguar focus their attention on supporting their customers and getting them back on the road - fast and with the minimum of inconvenience. In the age of Customer Experience Management add-ons such as Quintessentially Jaguar (the free for 1 year concierge package for XJ and XK owners), it completely misses the mark when basic vehicle reliability and customer support is so poor.
I share your views. Potentially a really great car, very badly let down by the service support in the field. I have experience of buying a fully stamped XJ from my local dealer, and then finding out that at 43,000 miles the air filter was so black and filthy that it must have been the original. My main dealer in Surrey dealt with the revelation immediately and most satisfactorily. I think we all hope that episodes like these will be dealt with under Tata, the XJ is still an example of very good British engineering. Allright, some folk complain that some of the switches used to be sourced by Ford. Don't knock it, try one with an open mind.

I Drive A Couple Of Cars, Bentley Gt, Ferrari 430
I drive a couple of cars, Bentley gt, Ferrari 430 spider and a Range Rover. I bought the Jaguar XJ TDVi Executive 2.7 for business reasons only, drove it a week before the accident but it was on the button each and every time. It's economical to run and comfortable. Pound for pound a splendid car! A guy ran into the back of it and I am amazed how well the Jag stood up to the impact, the other car right off but no one was hurt.

I Have Leased This Jaguar Xj Tdvi Executive 2.7 Vi
I have leased this Jaguar XJ TDVi Executive 2.7 via Lombard's. I have rejected the vehicle back to Lombard's and they have asked me to return the car back to Jaguar for them to check over the issues at hand.
I have always wanted a Jaguar and have driven every luxury car on the market and I can confirm that if the reliability was there, this would be one of the best cars I have driven.

I Took Delivery In December 2005 Of A Tdvi Soverei
I took delivery in December 2005 of a TDVi Sovereign (2006 model year). It has been back to the dealer 4 times for a total of 47 days and is still there. It is the worst new car I have ever had.

My Jaguar Xj Tdvi Executive 2.7 Is One Of My Few P
My Jaguar XJ TDVi Executive 2.7 is one of my few possessions that has so far not received a Review Centre review! That's about to change as I feel it's about time I reviewed the XJ. The XJ TDVi is my first experience of a Jaguar and the famous brand has not left me dissatisified. Far from it in fact, I would actually go as far to say that this is the best car I have ever owned. Here's my reasoning:
The Pro's:
- Amazing Fuel Economy for an executive car.
- A level of performance that has surpassed every expectation in the chart.
- The interior is perfect, the wooden look is fantastic.
- The comfort is obviously at best in class standard. I wouldn't have expected anything less.
- Loads of extras: My Jaguar has Sat Nav and Bluetooth.
- Very fast with elegant handling - a German penfriend who has one of these tells me you can get them up to 130mph+!
- Safety and reliability don't get any better than this.
Cons:
- Very expensive, but worth it.
- Errrr........
I bought the same model in December 2005. It has been back to the dealer 4 times for a total of 47 days so far and is still there. It is the worst new car I have ever had. The model is a Sovereign.
